Great and memorable album

This is a desert island album for me. I have listened to it many many times and will continue to do so. It's THE quintessential jazz album. Can it even be topped?

A perfectly balanced record. Miles may have downplayed this in later years because he had to move on and continue to innovate, but this is a thing of beauty.

Kind of the king of blues

Jazz in its purest form. A group of immensely talented musicians letting the music take them where it will.

Late night, hazy, melancholic NY club vibes. Fav Tracks: All?

Masterpiece. Gateway album into Jazz. Make yourself a cocktail, kick up your feet, and just sit back and relax.

Well of course, for God's sake, this is just one of the best albums ever. Never gets old.

yeah der it's very great

Classic jazz

This is an album that brought me into the pantheon of jazz music, classic and beautiful

Timeless and flawless.

Fantastic, beautiful, sublime. One of the best albums of any genre

Amazing!

All time classic. One of my favies.

6/4 toots

Wyite simply perfect. 5 🌟

Fantastic jazz album. Love every member of this band, they kill it on this one

Masterpiece. When I was 24 I proudly sported a T-Shirt of this perfect jazz album. The best launching pad into the world of listening to jazz.

The only jazz album you'll ever need. Shave this list down to 100 albums and this one has to remain. It doesn't matter if jazz isn't your thing. This transcends genre. Even if you're a cynic, just get high and put on some Miles.

Possibly the best album of all time, of any kind of music. I wish I could give 100 stars.

this is one of my favourite albums i’ve listened to it so many times

My dad played this record regularly all through my childhood. This type of jazz remains my favorite to this day (had to look it up, modal jazz; will seek out more); simple motifs stated and restated, with minor variations and improv that's not shy about hitting a phrase multiple times, whether it's harmonious or dissonant.

This is probably as perfect of a jazz 101 LP as there is, and I mean, that’s for a reason- look at the talent behind his band! But time has been kind to the songs and performances, which sound as rich today as ever. A

Everybody's first jazz album. And for good reason! That's also how I've discovered Bill Evans, my favourite jazz pianist. This isn't the Miles album I'd put at the top my list, but that's only because he's made so much and that I'm more attracted by his adventurous side. This one feels like a standard now, and its constant mellow rhythms makes for a good introduction to accessible jazz with great dialogues between musicians. This is the quintessential jazz album in many ways

Jazz doesn't get better than this. Not too pretentious, a nice compromise between virtuosity and listenability for the unpracticed ears.

Classic jazz. 5 stars doh!

How can someone give less than 5 stars to this monument? I don't know and I don't want to know.

Classic. Listen when walking alone at night.

Clearly an iconic Jazz album. I guess that's what happens when you have some of the best musicians in their field all in one place. Super chill music that will stand the test of time. I gotta get this one on vinyl.

Awesome stuff. Can never not enjoy this album

Classic album from Miles Davis - first song will remind you of his talent

So seductive. So cool. This can be background music, but it slowly, languidly, pulls you in until it's just you immersed in the gentle swishing of the ocean, which is actually Jimmy Cobb on the brushes. There's a cracking fire that warms you. That's Miles. I can resist most jazz. I actively hate free jazz and hard bop, which are less musical than hip-hop. But this is irresistible.

Amazing. I heard bits and pieces through the years and it was wonderful to give it a listen from start to finish. This will be in high rotation for a long time to come

Great album. Not 1 single thing wrong with it.

Классика жанра, альбом понравился с первого прослушивания.

Timeless classic, not much else to say..

Everything about this album is pure class.

Effortlessly Cool

I though this one was gonna be in the top 10 of the list but it seems jazz has its haters lol. It is a great album, one we have been listening since birth but it is always a good moment when you listen to it. Amazing work.

The apogee of this particular style. Still fresh and cool.

This was not an immediate favorite but it has really, really grown on me as I let myself go with it, listening over the day. (Maybe jazz isn't meant for 6:00 a.m.) It worked much better on a lunchtime walk, although my surroundings kept transforming into a wet night with neon lights reflected on the sidewalk. After that first encounter I tried to figure out what I was supposed to be hearing. I read a lot of Wikipedia trying to understand just what "modal jazz" is. (Boy, that's a technical article. Is this how the musicians communicated about their work?) My very fragile understanding is that Miles Davis created a canvas that allowed for improvised, unrestrained solos. When I had that in mind, it became more remarkable, because, at its worst, jazz can sound like unbearable chaos to me. A bunch of random, screeching saxophone is my nightmare. This, however, was always lovely and harmonious despite flowing freely. It was something to "feel" more than "hear" and I loved how it felt.

For much of my life, I just couldn't get into jazz. When I decided to really give it a shot, it was Miles that I first went to. This is one of the albums that I now pull out every so often. It is a beautiful jazz album! I also think that it is one that is quite accessible, even for one who is not so much a fan of the genre.

I afraid most of my exposure to jazz has come from Pink Panther and Charlie Brown cartoons. Listening to this album, I feel like this is what I think of when someone says jazz music. It has made me realize jazz music is quite a nice addition to my life. I feel a bit ill-suited to offer a meaningful review, but this sounded great to me and I loved listening to it. A cool way to chill the night away. I love it!

I am 100% biased when it comes to this album being a trumpet player. But this album is smooth, it’s calming, it’s technical. The addition of Coltrane amps this up to even further. Love, LOVE this blues record.

Ja, dette må man høre før man dør.

Alt schpeller. Perfekt jazz. Denne kjøpte jeg på CD på tidlig 2000-tallet. Har den enda. Jeg Hører på dette albumet i snitt 1gang pr mnd. gjør seg enda bedre på et godt stereoanlegg.

Not normally a jazz person, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. Amazingly smooth and great listening.

Great vibe

Easy 5 stars. Wild to think that Davis, Coltrane, and Adderly all combined on this. If you like jazz at all, this is it.

oh hell yeah, one of the greatest jazz albums ever made Miles Davis’ the mf GOAT I heard the whole 2 hour legacy edition of Kind of Blue and it’s so good all the way through - 10/10 kind of bebop at some points but mostly a cool, slow jazz album I prefer Bitches Brew, but I think it’s great to hear the classic jazz that got him to where he ended up, making incredible psychedelic experiences

Le classique des classiques. Un essentiel dans une collection.

This is a tough one to rate. I absolutely love swing-era jazz and have danced countless hours to it. As jazz moved to other styles, it kinda lost me. I dig this album, but I have to be in a certain mood for it. Nonetheless, this album deserves its spot in history.

Still don’t know why this is one of the greatest albums of all time, but I’ll keep listening and trying for my more years. Love this album

Greatest jazz album of all time. No matter how you feel about jazz normally, this one will pluck your heart strings and make you appreciate something new from it.

Jazz perfection

This is that kind of album where everything is exactly where it should be. Every note of it. It can play in the background or it can play in the foreground. It's whatever you want it to be.

Hard to pick this one apart. Sufficient perhaps to just say that this is one of the greatest jazz albums in the history of the genre - and maybe on of the greatest albums, full stop?

Probably the best jazz album of all time, accessible to jazz newbies and dearly loved by jazz connoisseurs. Features one of the great jazz lineups at the top of their game, Miles leads them on an improvisational masterclass. Genius, 5 stars all the way.

Masterpiece

smooth like butter. not his fault that i was super sleepy yesterday.

Long ago in a lifetime far away I took a college jazz course for my music studies - very early in the semester our homework one weekend was this album. Just that - listen to this album. My previous exposure to jazz was probably anything random from a movie or tv show. I knew I didn't enjoy jazz singing so I assume that's probably what I thought I was getting into. I'm not sure the word or term "jazz" is accurate (too widespread) because this album blew me away literally the first time I heard it. The mysterious almost creepy no-time intro to "So What" sets everything up before that classic call and response between bass and piano and gradual build... it's awesome. There's a *space* to this album - I'm not sure how to describe it well, but that space gives the mystery. There's no overload of sound; it always feels like something's coming around the corner and retaining the uncertainty. The entire album feels like that - every track. I love it. Again, I'm probably still speaking out of ignorance but this album might be the one cliché jazz album that everyone knows. To use my words carefully here...so what. Nothing I'll write here will be new - jazz is a little down the list of my preferred genres and I'll still not pretend to be able to know more than the next person but this kind of jazz is what I love and this album is perfection - I'm primarily a rock fan but after >200 albums this is my first 10/10. 10/10 5 stars

Never been a better use for vinyl.

Jazz daddy

Beautiful album. What an ensemble.

Amazing. Simply amazing.

Everyone's favourite jazz album, with good reason. Pretty much set my own tastes in jazz, such as they are.

Lovely

Probably the easiest 5 out of 5 I’ll ever give. The jazz album for people who hate jazz. Timeless, definitive, straightforward in sound but deceptively complex at the same time. A masterpiece and one of the greatest albums off all time, jazz or otherwise.

I can find no flaws or imperfections across decades of listening. 5/5. Serious candidate for best of album of all time in any genre.

A stunning achievement, the great American album. Evocative, moody, transformative, the playing here is superlative. Peerless. An album for the ages.

There aren't many jazz albums I sing along with--because they're instrumentals!--but this is one. I just find my voice singing whatever. I'm not sure why. It's only with this jazz album. Maybe it's because the music is just so damn smooth and melodic. Maybe it's because I've listened to and loved this album so much. Whatever the case, I drink this music. If music was a slushy alcoholic drink on a hot summer's day, the liquid would be blue, and the bottle from which the concoction came would have this album cover as a label.

Amazing music for a rainy day.

I've listened to this so many times, it's hard for me to come to it with a fresh, untouched opinion, but I think that this is a masterpiece of an album. Normally I don't like albums that are just instrumental, but Miles Davis et al. really show their mastery of music here. Some of the best jazz out there, no question about it.

Best Jazz album no kwestion

A classic for a reason

An absolute classic. This might actually have been the first time I've listened to the album in full but I've been aware of every single song, some in different versions. What a quality in songwriting and musicians on this one album.

MQA Studio 192 kHz (TIDAL) Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm

my favourite album - timeless, works for any mood. a marvellous band charting new territory and creating beautiful music

I don't have anything to add

This is my favorite album of all time. It's one that I listen to rarely because I'm worried that if I listen to it too many times, I won't be able to appreciate its stark beauty. It's sad and sweet one moment, upbeat the next. What makes this album so great is that it is always absolutely painting a mood. You're meant to feel something with every song, and I always feel it. The instrumentation is exquisite. The compositions are sublime. Even the mistakes and imperfections, like the drummer hitting the cymbal a little too hard when Miles comes in on the first track just work. Put this album on a rocket ship and send it out into space. That way, if it's ever encountered by intelligent life, the aliens will get to see us at our absolute best 5/5

Jazz de Miles Davis de su época más clásica. Vinilo total.

This is just an amazing album. Very mellow but still interesting. The talent on this one album is unbelievable.

J'aime bcp les paroles

perfect

Of all the jazz works we had so far, of which I disagree with being on this list alongside pop, rock and hip hop albums, this one is no exception. But this was magic. This was such emotion and feel, with such a grand list of performers held together by the greatest ever. It deserves its place on any list. I have to give this a perfect rating.

Tout le momde qui s’interesse de pres ou de loin a la musique connait kind of blue. un chef d’ouvre tout simplement. 5

Jednostavno savršen jazz album. To se jednostavno zna i nema se šta raspravljat.

one of the greats

Modal jazz was fundamentally a reaction to bebop's stereotypical pattern: a rapid succession of chords. Miles, Coltrane, Adderley, Chambers, Bill Evans on piano, Jimmy Cobb on drums improvised in the studio, without any rehearsal. Four lengthy jams, So What... (9/10) FT: So What, Blue in Green

The soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist. Monster of an album. Everyone should own a copy. Best Tracks: So What; Blue In Green; Flamenco Sketches

One of the greatest jazz albums of all time. Great sounds, tones.

Near perfection for me. Not a bad note on this one.

One of the very best ever ever

I can usually only handle jazz in small doses but this is wonderful.

It’s jazz perfection and a good subset of music wouldn’t exist without it

Album koji je odjeknuo i promjenio glazbu/svijet. Osobno, album na vrhu ljestvice

Savršen jazz album. Najbolji ikad. Točka.

I have 4 different pressings of this album on vinyl and two on CD so I may be biased. So What (sorry) happens when you assemble a crack all-star ensemble led by Miles at his technical and artistic peak? You get an iconic, genre defining album for the ages of course. I'm pretty miserly about handing out 5 star ratings and have only given out a few so far, but this is a no-brainer for me.

absolute classic, problem the single epitome of jazz sound.

- long songs + short attention span = no bueno i will tough it out since im trying to get into jazz - good study music tho

It had been awhile since I listened to this album. Worth revisiting, some peak level Miles

Legend. So smooth.

Very interesting

superb example of the masters work

What a lovely jazz album.

Absolute fucking classic

This was my first jazz album. I had heard plenty of jazz before, but this was the first jazz album I sought out, bought, and listened to on repeat. I studied it. I learned it. I could hum along with basically the entire thing. It is no longer my *favorite* Davis album, I think that goes to Sketches of Spain, but it is still probably objectively his best one, and holds such an important place in my heart.

Know this album well. One of my favorites from the Genre. 5/5. Standouts: So What, Freddie Freeloader

Favorite jazz album. Listened to this on a rainy day in 2018 summer when I had a job. The mood and the vibe this gives is just untouchable. 10/10

BUSSIN, but at what cost?

Could’ve listened to it all day long…great album!

All time classic album

This is one of the very best jazz albums EVER!

an album worth all it praise it gets, crips and clear sound, all instruments solo or in ensemble are just magical

Loved this one

Ya like Jazz?

One of the all-time greats.

Like green olives, blue cheese and red wine this album is better every time. If you want to know what Jazz is this is it.

4.5/5 Ideal para estudiar y poner de fondo. Relajante.

One of the most groundbreaking, infectious, and listenable jazz record of all time.

Love it

I am not a huge fan of jazz, but this is absolutely wonderful.

Not a jazz fan but this is a great album.

Almost the definition of an incredible album. Ticks every box.

its so good, 10

Sounded so nice! Excellent vibes, 9/10 for me

10 out of 10. Just a wonderful album. Need on vinyl.

One of the greatest jazz albums of all time.

Fantastico

Well Stevie…look at the album we manifested. Our anger yesterday at the lack of black musicians was heard. This album also answers a lot a questions. Namely, this is the first album on this list I have on vinyl and this is the first album on this list to get five stars. Kind of Blue is one of my favorite Jazz albums. I’ve listened to it going to sleep. I’ve listened to it while road tripping to Texas. I’m listening to it right now on vinyl as opposed to Apple Music. This is one of those albums with a shorter track list but longer songs. They are all great and perfect to listen to at any time. Whether you are happy, sad, or just kind of blue. Miles Davis quickly became one of my favorite Jazz musicians a few years ago with this album and Bitch’s Brew. I can’t express how happy I am to finally have an album of this caliber on this list. The album cover is simple enough. The songs are magical. I was worried a five star album would take forever to arrive with the content we have been given but here it is. And it’s Friday.

I think it's hard to rate jazz on the same scale as popular music but it's really good. 9 I guess

Not Bitches Brew, thank god

Ch-ch-ch-Chanclas in the mix, here to judge them tracks and count them stacks, today were diving deep into that Jazz, with “kind of blue”. Chanclas likes the jazz, and after talking to Chanclas Batman, who also enjoys a nice jazz, we’ve agreed that this meets our criteria for “perfect” album. We’re giving the album 5/5 not in the sense that it’s filled with bangers but in the sense that the songs flow well into each other and keep you in the same kinda groove start to finish. Pairs well with a joint. True feeling: 4.2/5 stars Saved tracks: 3/5 Noteworthy note: 45:45 runtime (nice) Standout tune: all blues

Found an old friend.

FUCKING MASTERPIECE

The sticking power of Kind Of Blue isn't exactly due to "timelessness". The entrance to Blue In Green, in particular, seems very much of a time. The magic of the tune, and the rest of the record, is the ground everyone is able to cover. Thus, a recording that compares favorably with any of the music released after it. There's fast playing, bluesy licks, and a high degree of freedom in playing. Often all in the same track, and all easy to listen to and just fit-together enough. The first two tracks, especially, go lots of places but always come back home. I'm not a huge fan of the subdued B side, where I hear the most minimal compositions. But many compositions would be improved if players of this caliber picked them up and spun them into something new.

Favourite Songs: So What Blue In Green

Jazzzzzzzzzzzy No complaints with this one. This was a revisit, and it's chill. Great stuff.

Chill album, definitely needed to be sipping on a cocktail while listening to this

My 100th album to rate and I'm given this utter monument of popular music: lucky me! To me, this is the jazziest jazz album to ever jazz. The perfect introduction to the wonderfully calm, soothing and sometimes bizarre world of jazz. Every note in place, every change perfectly timed. To my ears, it's a little too prim and polished, working too perfectly as background music that flits and floats by as you do something else. This isn't too say this isn't a strong album by itself - there's a reason it's a standard entry point for someone looking to get into jazz for the first time. That genre can seem intimidating from afar, what with its endless talk of chords and theory (it just reminded me that John Coltrane, who appears on this album, is the decided reason for that shift.) Kind of Blue puts the listener's mind at ease and lets them know there's something in jazz for everyone, which is something I think we can all rally behind. Key Tracks: Freddie Freeloader, All Blues

*Considered goat of jazz, modal sketches

gahdamn schillest gahdamn album gahdamn ever mane except like 20 other miles albums but this ones still gahdamn great

Decent 4,5

I like jazz and this album is good but I preferred the other Miles Davis album.

6.5/10

Quintessential Jazz album A bunch of goats all on the same project it’s bound to be good

me gusta pero el jazz no es lo mío

So good.

I mean it's Miles Davis. I don't know shit about jazz but damn if I don't know he's the GOAT. 8/10

No fav song Great album!

I feel like a detective sat drinking a black coffee in a 1950s Diner, Mr Incredible in the glory days, really interesting motifs and ostinatos. A great album to listen to in the shower as someone who hasn’t really experienced jazz like this before I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Veryyyy good jazz

I am not a jazz fan by any means but this was brilliant and throughly enjoyable.

13/06/2026 It was chilled and relaxed. Happy enough with that. Spotify listeners: 2.7 million

Beautiful. I don’t know enough technically to say why but it was beautiful

As a kid always used to see this in the vinyl section of urban outfitters so I immediately assumed it was normie jazz and never give it a chance. Couple years ago I finally got over my avant-teen tendencies and gave it a rip and I see what makes it a classic. Not my favourite of all the staple jazz albums, but still fire

Made me feel like a Sim, but in a fun way.

First full album of Mikes Davis for me, very nice listen. Will come back to this again soon

1. So What – 5.0 2. Freddie Freeloader – 3.5 3. Blue in Green – 5.0 4. All Blues – 4.5 5. Flamenco Sketches – 3.5

Honestly lovely.

This is obviously a classic ... but it did make me a little sleepy. I like my jazz with a little more pop and a lot more fusion.

I really enjoyed this one. Good introduction to the blues

Nice jazz, forgot how relaxing it is

Wow, so good. Relaxing, interesting. The style of drumming Waa the only let down.

Velmi dober🥶🧊

Miles Davis is next level

Demands full attention.

Very pleasing listen, gets a bit jazzy but a good amount. Specific rating - 4.2 Fav song - so what Least favourite - all blues

The dread I felt seeing there were only 5 songs on the 45 minute album- I live in fear of long messy showy improvised jazz. But I was pleasantly surprised, it was peaceful and tidy and lovely. Some gorgeous moments but it never felt like it was showing off. It was improvised but it never felt too far from where it started. I wouldn't necessarily just listen to it again but I'd be happy to put it on in the background... maybe I don't hate jazz. Favourite song: Freddie Freeloader Least: Flamenco Sketches

Not a fan of jazz, I think its overrated. This is prety good ig. Like background music good. Its chill and cool at time. Somehow this fuckass website thinks jazz is my favorite style of music. Probably because I never gave a jazz album a score lower than a 3 yet.

Jazz can quickly go over the top and lose you to it's jarring abstract form. This album teeters the whole time. Dipping a toe in the lunacy and then pulling back to more recognizable patterns. It's really good and one of my favorite instrumental jazz records. At then end of the day, instrumental jazz is not my favorite genre so that keeps it from being a 5.

this is the first album i've gotten that i already own a physical copy of :) was literally cataloguing my record collection and seeing which ones were on the list right before this. also i got another miles davis album the day before yesterday which is kind of freaky... no notes, solid album

I've never been a big fan of jazz, but this was (probably unsurprisingly) excellent. Absolutely perfect for a relaxing bank holiday morning.

So all the songs were obviously quite long but I’ll you what it was straight heat for a good portion of it. I can see why Miles Davis is so loved. Top three: Freddie Freeloader, All Blue and So What

Music that immediately lowers your general annoyance levels of the day, particularly if you are waiting for your building super to do his job and unlock the laundry room (it was supposed to be unlocked an hour ago)

Truly some of the best trumpet work I have heard.

not really into Jazz but I can't deny this my respect. smooth af. & thankful for another album (along with the jazz samba) to bring my HR well down. 7 / 10 Best track/s: Flamenco Sketches

Muito bom

Freddie Freeloader is a standout on this one, it's a chill groove with more of a typical jazz flavor. The first track "So What" is probably the prime example of the modal sketches he intended and it's a harder listen due to the unexpected chord movements and scales used. The rest of the tracks are more accessible while remaining fresh and unique. The end solo bit on All Blues with Davis over the saxes' vamp was super tight. The musicians are all masters - Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, Coltrane, Adderley, Paul Chambers on bass, Jimmy Cobb on drums - and it's wild to think there was no rehearsal prior to recording. These guys lived and breathed music. I particularly liked the saxes' performances, but everyone was really, really good. This works well on two different levels - technical and experimental excellence to scrutinize and admire, and vibey jazz to just let wash over you.

Great album. Normally I’m more keen on Saxophone led Jazz but this is a really cool album

Great vibe to fill an afternoon of cleaning or something related.

As I've mentioned in several other album reviews: I'm not a big jazz guy, but the vibes and the musicianship on this album are pretty undeniable.

I'm not a massive fan of the piano, I'll be honest. Much too sharp for my taste and distracts me from the overall composition. It just feels less interesting as compared to the horns (though I must say, Bill Evans was a great addition to this album). I do, however, appreciate the double bass work a ton, it gives the songs more personality. But then again, I've always been biased towards the bass/cello. The ride cymbal is fantastic, giving the tracks this entirely shimmery sound. The fills are lovely as well. The rhythm section didn't strike me as especially unique compared to other works of jazz i've heard. But the more i listened, the more I appreciated how much restraint it took to keep the album that smooth. The drumming wasn't impressive for its flashy technicality, it was impressive for its restraint and taste. If it were flashier, it would quickly overpower and lose that texture. It's no secret that you don't need to play insanely fast to be a good drummer, and I'm filled with nothing but praise for Jimmy Cobb. He (for a lack of better word) ate. Blue in Green was one of the first jazz songs I had come across, but it was the one performed by the Bill Evans trio. The slow pacing of Blue in Green (Kind of Blue) was nice, and the piano felt much richer and more balanced. It's more well rounded as compared to the one performed by Bill Evans, which was more piano centric. Overall, I felt more and more enchanted as I progressed through the album. My favourite would have to be Blue in Green, while my least favourite is Freddie Freeloader. Freddie Freeloader wasn't bad at all, but as compared to the rest of the album, it didn't pull me in as much.

This was good! Very chill and easy to listen to.

Makes complexity and nuance look effortlessly cool. Nothing more to say to other than this is a classic for a reason.

By all accounts this is the peak of jazz. I don't doubt it. I guess I wish that I could manage to feel a bit more compelled by jazz than I ever do in reality... I like to think I could manage it if I brute-forced it. Just listened to this album multiple times and really got intentional about paying attention to everything that was going on. But I didn't have time to do that yesterday, though. Well it was quite nice as background music anyway

Great bgm. Unfortunately not my vibe since i crave lyrics. But undeniably smooth and nice

Not sure if I’m just in a rare mood for jazz today but it’s hitting

Throwback to GCSE music when All Blues was on the syllabus. John Coltrane almost upstages Miles on this album!

Not my usual bag, but pretty good - can see the influences behind St Germain etc

Du bon jazz

Favorite songs: Freddie Freeloader, Blue in Green

fav song: flamenco sketches i enjoyed this! have heard a good chunk of it before, but in the end, full jazz isn't my fav genre

8/10 it’s a good album. The music is peaceful and grounding, something I would hear at a cafe. Personally, I prefer music with lyrics unless it’s orchestra. I guess jazz is not my drift. Still I appreciate this album, it sounds good.

Great album

I don’t know anything about jazz but I enjoyed this album. It’s a perfect album to cook to

Man you put this shit on during a rainy evening with a glass of wine or hot chocolate and someone you love by your side what else you want out of life? 4.5 Stars

Favorite track(s): So What, Blue in Green, Flamenco Sketches I'll always prefer fusion Miles to this but I came around to it more. Heard before Previous rating: 7/10

I've listened to this a few times as the album everyone says is the gateway to getting into jazz. Thanks to the list I've found a few I actually like, but this still isn't it. It's fine, but seems best as background music

I mean it’s Miles Davis, classic beautiful jazz, what more could a girl ask for

Мне всё больше начинает нравиться джаз в стакими альбомами. По самой записи есть огрехи - тромбон периодически хрипит, думал что динамик умирает. Но что взять с записи 50-х годов

I'm not going to pretend I have any business reviewing this album. This is good jazz sounds.

I won't pretend to understand why this was such a landmark album. It's been part of the Required Listening for this kinda thing since long before I was born, so it's harder for me to appreciate the seismic change Kind of Blue represented. Nearly 70 years later, I think it's lovely and evocative, but I can't give any lectures about it. I've had "So What" saved on a playlist for a long time, and now I'm gonna add the rest of the tracks to it too.

Marvelous! Loved the peace.

The fifties' greatest study relaxation & sleep playlist

Przesłuchałem przedtem, 8/10 Ulubiona piosenka: So What

lovely stuff

Easy listening.

8/10. really good but jazz just might not be for me

goosebumps

I'm a bit torn on this one. I really loved the mellower tracks, but the up tempo ones left me a little cold. Everyone involved is obviously brilliant, but my brain doesn't really know what to do with the fast improvisational stuff that goes on forever. It craves a melody.

Groovy.

This is the best-selling jazz album and my knowledge of that fact once won me a point in a game of Trivial Pursuit. I also think I once had to transcribe the piano solo on "Freddie Freeloader" for a jazz band class assignment in school. Anyway: this album is classic for a reason, an important early work of modal jazz style. I highly recommend listening to the 2009 chiptune tribute, "Kind of Bloop," after this for some lolz, and for some musical nostalgia of a different variety...

(5/7) jazz means long songs with no words

Not my favorite jazz album, but I enjoy jazz quite a bit, so it still ranks highly for me.

goood! amazing background to study

ohhhhh my jazzy lil johnny got up because of that

Tres vibes, dans le fond d’un café mal éclairer.

minimalista, introspectivo, hipnótico. el comienzo de una meditación, como si siempre se estuviera en un estudio en vivo.

Nice short ambient jazz album. No words. 4/5

9/10 Highlight: Blue in Green Lowlight: So What

this is such a vibe. i enjoyed all the songs. i loved the jazz. what else can i say man? these guys know and do it best. 7/10

Solid album.

Miles Davis and John Coltrane, what’s not to love?

i like jazz

Incredible stuff! Some of it got a bit tiring though, hence the 4

Smooth, chill, listened to at work. 7.5/10

Great album love the melancholic feel to the songs.

Sehr schön, das erste Jazz-Album, das ich mir je gekauft habe.

very chill, remind to put on often, really calming

Smooth.

Beautiful, heavy and soft, cinematic and ordinary, definitely not something I like or enjoy but definitely significant. This after 6 beers but still I thing it holds. 4.

Defined a genre, impeccable recording.

no me siento calificada para ratearlo, pero disfruté escucharlo mientras estudiaba. Yyy no sé si lo escucharía en otro contexto.

Great album, I love this genre. However it just misses the absolute exclamation point for me to give this one the highest mark. 4/5

i would totally listen to this album on a bus late evening . I like the freddie freeloader so far .

I am not a jazz nut but I enjoyed this, it’s very much music that evokes a relaxed mood for me. It’s not something I would put on often but in the right setting I would be happy to have this as playing end to end 4

This is the kind of jazz I like. Locks in so well even though it's improv. I listened to this album years ago and can still see why this is considered a classic.

No soy mucho del jazz, pero bastante bien igualmente. Me sentí que estaba en un video de YouTube.

I looove Miles Davis. He's a musician that actually makes me want to put on his record and do nothing but close my eyes, sit, and listen. Hard to decide whether I like Kind Of Blue or Bitches Brew better

One of my favorite things about this process has been hearing songs that I've heard tons of times before but never known the name or the artist, especially when there are no lyrics. This is a prime example. I've heard pretty much every song on this album repeatedly throughout my years working in coffee shops, whether studying or as a barista, and listening to this album was incredibly nostalgic and simultaneously relaxing. Made for a fantastic spring morning sitting on the balcony enjoying the music, coffee, and the finally warm breeze. Musically, I vastly prefer this album to Bitches Brew. Where Bitches Brew felt chaotic to me, this album is soulful, full of emotion, and all conveyed without any lyrics whatsoever. Listening to this album feels like uncovering the roots of so much amazing music that came to follow. I'm a fan. Favorites- So What, Blue in Green

Lets Jazz, Sowas würde ich gerne Live sehen

Enjoy this every time I listen but still waiting to “get” it

dosta dobro. prva strana bila solidna, ali druga je razvalila

Piano, Trumpet, like a sound track to a montage or joyous activity. Great Background music.

Enjoyable classic

Good jazz but I'm too stupid to understand why.

Enjoyed it more than Bitches Brew. Wonderful audio mixing and a great vibe throughout the whole record

I’m a Bitches Brew man what can I say?

Such a classy album. I don’t do well with jazz on active listens, and I only really feel engaged when I’m hearing it played. All that aside, it’s still a fantastic album, and it really does make you feel kind of blue.

Great album, even lesser known tracks are excellent.

Very nice!

A cool jazz music. Like the ones that gets played at Salon de Kathmandu. Was not interested at first but it was actually really good and would be a really good music to be playing at a background.

Great album to start the day

So What // Blue in Green //

Jazz très propre, idéal pour ambiance de soirée mondaine

Only listened once - quality.

No savvy enough to distinguish between Chord progression and Modal Jazz but the music is really good. The interplay between the Saxophones and the Piano are what stood out to me. I see why it is very highly rated even if I don't have the technical knowledge to appreciate its complexities.

It's a classic. Needs repeated listens and jazz isn't quite my thing, but I can tell why it's so revered. Didn't gel with me as much as Mingus surprisingly.

Another nice chill album... right up my alley

Absolute classic. Haven't listened in a few years, always worthwhile. Not something I'm going to listen to more than once every couple of years, but that's okay.

Très bon blues, bien pour travailler

Miles Davis, being the only exception to my "I don't like jazz" rule. King behavior!

Pretty good 8.5/10

Wow! Listened to this whilst driving to university and enjoyed the vibes. It took my mind off the driving (in the safest way possible) and made me feel relaxed. Can imagine listening to this again, especially if I have it on vinyl for chill evening vibes with that vinyl crackle sound. Or, perhaps when writing an essay. I wouldn’t necessarily choose jazz as my go-to but I hope I find my way to this album again. Rating: 4.

It’s jazz, it’s classy, it’s a bunch of the top players from history. A lot to like and not much I can complain about.

I wish I had a more musical ear and was able to appreciate the nuances of this type of jazz so I could wax poetically about this, but I have nothing deep or profound to say about it unfortunately. It’s good, its nice to have in the background, very calming. Pop off king I guess!

Um clássico do Jazz, me impressiono com sua sensibilidade. É o tipo de disco que nós leva para outro mundo, nos coloca num “mood” especial.

If you're going to do instrumental jazz, this is how you do it. A nice balance of improv and structure, creativity and form that doesn't disorient the listener OR bore them. Everyone has different tastes of course, but this is mine when it comes to jazz. 4 stars, not something I'd obsess over, but still an album I quite enjoy.

Kind of the first Jazz lp anyone gets into, more like. Then everyone moves on to discover their favourites and forget the entry point. However listening again it’s still great. Especially the second side.

Sooo coool

Fun and cool, a classic jazz album for a reason.

I was starting to wonder when we would get our next “one of the greatest albums of all time” albums. Here it is. I’ve given this one several chances and it still hasn’t clicked with me. And yet gets a four, because it’s still so good. I do love a lot of jazz, including Miles’ In a Silent Way, but something about this one still isn’t a five for me. I’ll keep trying though.

Aimilios head office no lyrics super chill vibes 5 tragoudia jazz af.

One of the best in the jazz scenario. Love every second of it, felt the emotion, this was a full meal. Today´s bird: Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) (yes, mordecai)

I certainly appreciate the skill of Davies and Coltrane especially on a lazy Sunday. However, it's not necessarily an album I'd go back to as I prefer the raunchier side of jazz.

Not the usual chaotic music I associate with jazz which seems to be instruments fighting for thier place. This is very mellow and chilled, various instruments talking with each other not at each other. Evokes images of quiet bar or club sitting sipping drinks slowly with the music washing over me.

It's wonderful listening to one of the greats for the first time. This album just flew by for me. I might have to listen again just to get the full impact.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It's good, really good as always! Just not AS mindblowing as his later stuff.
