Reviews (page 13 of 14)
Pretty good groove.
Buen funk.
p364. 1975. 3 stars Perfectly acceptable fodder, well produced with a sense of humour but... not my thing. It's missing standout tracks. Listened to it, thought it was OK, then forgot about it.
Very fun, very funky - but mad as a bag of hammers and feels like I'm a bit too old to get excited about being funked up
Tear the roof off this motherfunker!
Fine funk album.
just not my jam. too loose and impromptu for my liking. not the biggest fan if funk to begin with, so unfortunately it doesn't take much for me to "meh" the fuck out on an album like this.
Funky
wanted to like this more than I did. Give up the Funk is the banger it's always been, but the rest didn't hit me incredibly hard. That said, still pretty cool to see a pioneering example of Afrofuturism in the 70's in comparison to where the genre across media is today (and specifically compared to The Archandroid album which is also on this list from 35 years later).
Coole vibe, maar wel erg langdradig soms
I'm a sucker for all things funk. Immediate 3 to 4 stars.
First listen Saved 3/7
Funk, not really my thing but I didn’t mind listening. Pretty upbeat and fun.
Sounds a bit like a mix of funk and psychedelic. Bit often used the word funk... (6/10) FT: Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)
Gave me a good boost 6 miles into my walk, and as a lover of Toejam & Earl, I was on the wavelength to enjoy this. Some of it meandered a bit without keeping my attention, but enjoyable and kept me smiling. Appreciate them curing my arthritis, rheumatism and migraines through the sheer power of P-funk, as promised.
A good Sunday listen.
3.5
1 song saves this from being a 2.
Funky as expected.
Great album very funky first time listening to a true retro funk album
Ooo, this album was a funky one. Very charmingly 70s, and "charming" and "70s" aren't two words I usually put together. That said I wouldn't re-listen. It's just not really my thing. That said: my fave track, the classic "Give Up the Funk" is a fucking jam and I defy anyone to not dance to it.
Nice album; easy to listen too while at work. nice rthym; loved the lyrics "let me put my shades on so i can see what i'm doin."
First Parliament record I heard front to back. I enjoyed it! They're usually hit or miss for me but it was actually good background workday music for me.
Funky!
it’s music for restaurants, though i liked it
Very funky album. Interesting to hear the sample for Dr Dre's "Let Me Ride" in "Mothership Connection (Star Child)". "Give Up The Funk" also very popular. 6/10.
Oooooooo WE WANT THE FUNK. GIVE UP THE FUNK
DOOO I HAVE TO PUT MY HANDCUFFS ON YOU, MAMA
January 16th 2022. The best of this album IMO: - Mothership Connection (Star Child) - Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker) - and now I know where the original sample comes from for that one Snoop Dogg song! I wants to get funked up! Enjoyable. I like tracks where the musicians are jamming and the singers are talking over the music with some random music shit. Good funk. 3.2/5
Pretty good, but most songs need to be 3-4 minutes shorter lol
Фанк не понимаю, альбом наверное стоящий, но оцениваю как пасос для би-боев
I love the concept. In some parts repetitive but still a damn good funk album.
Make my funk the P. Funk, I wants to get funked up
Funky
Funky. Great to run to.
Funky. Lots of talking over the top.
Funky af
funkyyyyyyyyy
Funky but not my kink.

i want to say this is another example of an album that has 2-3 good tracks and a load of filler on it, but the funk genre is whats confusing me. is 'give up the funk' a shining example of how good funk can be or is it the pop track that isn't really a good representation of funk? is this album one funk masterpiece and a load of filler or is it a stone cold amazing funk album with a pop track on it? either way this album makes me feel like a jellyfish.
Another hard-fought, highly entertaining thriller. If this was a 90's TV personality, it'd be Mr Motivator.
A funky ball of tits. The problem with Parliament is that there have been so many comedy pastiches of P Funk that all I can hear is the comedy pastiches. I'm Old Gregg! You ever drink Baileys from a shoe? I got a mangina etc, etc. If this album was a footballer, it would be Noel Fielding.
Musically excellent but some dubious lyrics
3 I suppose. Definitely enjoyed but not sure I'd seek it out again. Their logo is an all time best too.
Muy chistoso, muy funk, ese inicio con marcianos, toda una época. En fin, sigue conservando cierto espíritu festivo y un interés musical mediano, yo diría. No hay tracks favs. 7.5/10
Bit too disco ish for me. Swampy keyboards and cheerful
Really enjoyed it, funky.
Loved the singles for the album and overall enjoyed it despite its filler.
3/5 Great Funk.
WEFUNK FM. Fun album and groovy.
This is the kind of music I enjoy in small amounts - a song or two. I listened to the album through then it started playing “similar” songs on Spotify and replayed several of the same songs I had just listened to and I didn’t notice. Not bad music by any means - just not memorable enough for me to go back to
doesn't really do anything to me
0 liked songs.
It's funky. So it's great. I listened while conversing, doing other things, and none of the songs particularly stood out to me. In addition, it's full of "background noise", which I wasn't into at the moment. But maybe it's better if you're really devoting your attention to the music. Definitely worth another listen.
Not really my style🤷🏻♂️
Funk?! Interesting. Never purposefully listened to a funk album so this'll be fun. I really liked it for the most part but this style does get repetitive with it's strange optimism and repeated beats. The last song was terrible.
Funky music in this album. This was an experience from the first song to the last, as it feels like each song melts into the next. Really well done album, but not my type of music.
Decent background funk
Funky cool Fahrstuhl
Funky toons
First 7 minutes got me phunked up
Saved Prior: None Off Rip: Mothership Connection (Star Child) Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: We want the funk, give up the funk (if it's not live.) Coming to you from my laptop speakers, this is underwhelming. I would adore this live though, when you can really feel the rhythm. An enjoyable 2.5, and since most of my other 2s are albums I didn't like, I'll round this up.
Interesting, yet failed to inspire me
The album that brought joy in the middle of this snow storm.
Some good funky tunes, but did lose me along journey in parts. The better songs make it 3*
Enough funk to sustain but I wanted much less random chattery faff and much more actual funky music
Vc:ccftc c c CVS v
I had the 45 of Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker) when I was a kid. The rest of the album does not sound like this track. While it may be a little difficult to access for someone as white as I am, one thing that really comes through is how much JOY went into making this music.
Fun stuff but I don't know how often I'd be in the mood for it.
weird album but alright very funky music but still relatively enjoyable
02/16 - Yesterday I worked on getting the Drum Storage Building drawing set ready for DC, updating UL details in the MFG set, and cleaning up site plan and DSB elevations for issue to the city. I usually like music like this and this album was really no different. I was very surprised when I heard the song Give Up The Funk as I didnt know it was by Parliament.
For song titles, it's a five. "Night of the Thumpasorus Peoples" is my favourite. I remember seeing the NWA movie, and at parties, the DJs always played Parliament and Bootsy Collins. They had a major influence on everything funky that followed. I also like the science fiction schtick, which was popular in the 70s.
It's fun and funky.
A little to much funk for my taste but still a vibe
Funky, one tune cool
Can see the Influence not my hame however
Power soul. R&B. Interesante.
This outlandish brand of funk is not my preferred one, but it's an overall enjoyable album. Guess it'll be my entrypoint to the rest of P-Funk's discography, of which I'm largely ignorant.
A whole lotta rhythm and funk going round. 7/10
No funkadelic, but still decent funk
space and funk, super dope
Meh
Funky af
Funk is a silly and fun genre - Give Up The Funk is a true classic but the rest is pretty forgettable
2funky4me. 2.5 rounded up.
Not bad. Something cool, if you're in the mood.
Feels like this album is great in certain situations - lively party, not necessarily while working or just hanging out. but good and funky
Funky fun
It had it's moments, and I recognized a song on the album.
I liked it but didn't find it to be very memorable. Would listen to it again.
Would always be down to listen to this album but might never put it on
Funky not Rachel's kind of music normally but liked it Vibey fun time big beats Almost historical
Liked it more than I expected. It is the funk!
Funky odyssey’s not really my thing
3
Pretty dang funky, though not as "funky as funk" compared to Flash Light, also by Parliament. Overall okay.
Good, but not really my jam.
Bass is amazing, but the songs don't quite click for me
Rimelig funky, groovy, masser af horn, 70’er
Groovy listen
Funkylicious
Je suis pas quelqu'un de très funky
Good. Not great.
It definitely has a groove that’s fun to get into. Though it’s the same groove on most of the songs. And most songs don’t have much going for them in lyrics, with only one song that’s catchy. I like the dude talking in the first song, but otherwise the song is very random. I’m not (yet?) into funk, I guess.
shoutout to the eagle nebula didn't know p-funk cures illness either way it's pretty funky handcuffs is a problematic tho 💥p-funk (wants to get funked up) 💥unfunky ufo 💥give up the funk (tear the roof off the sucker)
Not as fun as I wanted it to be.
Meh
Funky tunes.
Fun sci-fi afrofuturist Funk album. This is basically another Funkadelic album, given the connection. Not really my thing, maybe more listens would do it. Key tracks: Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)
Фанк. Бе
These guys are talented and cool and all, but the album gets real boring real quick.
Good listen. Lots of sing-alongable sections. Sometimes overly repetitive but picturing in a live setting I get this would be very fun to sing along to. Star Child! ✨
#34 Funk songs about being funky are like rock songs about rocking hard: kind of lame. A few good riffs here and there, and some good musicianship on display from the bass and horn players especially. It didn't do much for me though, a bit boring and repetitive.
funky
I will probably give the same review to a lot of albums. The musicians have obvious technical skill, but this type of music just isn’t appealing to me.
Ok but repetitive
Funky - yes. Meaningless - absolutely. Repetitive - mind-numbingly so. I have (in some desperation) been to discos where this sort of stuff was being played in the early 80s, and it made me question my whole existence.
Tarzı bana uymadı
Kul vibe, ikke helt min vibe
I dont like super long songs (mostly) I dont like talking during songs (mostly) not my thing somtimes groovy
Don't do funk but sounds cool
- lol! I mean, it's fun and ridiculous. - This album is definitely on the jokier side, and I don't know how much repeat value the lyrics have. And, hard no to the blatant sexism. - I enjoy the instrumentation - some nice horn and keys. - Obviously Give Up The Funk is a banger. - I find the songs are on the (too) long side. (from my Funkadelic review:) - Sounds like George Clinton got everyone addicted to drugs and didn't pay people: "As the hit records started piling up, the musicians who played on them started asking about money. According to some, they received only $20 or $50 at the end of tour. Others claim they were paid in drugs. Former manager Robert Mittleman counters that band members owed Clinton for drugs consumed on the road and he merely collected it out of their wages when they returned from tour. When one enterprising band member began selling drugs to his tour mates to cover his meager pay, Clinton allegedly posted a sign which said “No Drug Dealing unless authorized by George.” And was a predator: "Most disturbing are claims from the female members of P-Funk that they were expected to be sexually available for Clinton, who preyed on their insecurities and career ambitions to manipulate them to his wishes." There's also the weird connection to Process Church.
PU is right.
Ok
it was a little bit too much for me
Cant spell funk without fun! I liked the opening the best, but I found it to be too repetitive. Maybe I'm too lame for this kind of music. Also the closing song sounded too much like farts to me
The intergalactic funk idea is cool, but a little corny now? Even Give Up The Funk didnt hit for me. Overall, this was fine, but not even close to what we heard with funkadelic or sly and the family stone. 1.5 stars
it's undeniably good funk but I just don't love funk as a genre, more as a complement to other styles
Funkalicious!
funny album but thats all it had
not my thing i fear
Started pretty nice, but got very repetitive VERY fast
It’s okay but nothing I’ll be reaching for.
I wanted to give it more stars, because I loved the concept and the grooves, but ultimately the songs were too repetitive.
Dated.
I thought this would be better. Mostly a bit bland I found.
424/1089 - I'm convinced I don't like "pure" funk at all. I find that it's a very monotonous and repetitive genre and best as an accent to other genres like "Fakin It" by Simon and Garfunkel being a mix of Funk and Polk or "Shining Star" by Earth Wind and Fire being a mix of Funk and Soul.
ehhhhh
Very good
decent.
Funky
Mothership Connection - Parliament Im not a fan of funk. And because of that all the songs sounded the same. I just wanted the album to end :(.
C’est de la funk… j’aime pas la funk. Cependant ça sonne vraiment très bien pour l’époque je trouve. Très bon mix
not my style at all.
Gagagoogagagagagooga
Very funky
I don't naturally enjoy funk. Parliament I could properly enjoy, in small doses but a whole album just funks me off.
Not a big funk fan. All the songs sounded the same and kept droning on incessantly. So much repetition and just overall not that interesting to me.
Is it funky? Sure. Did I want to listen to an entire funk album? No.
This type of funk is not really for me but i got to listen to 'Give Up The Funk' after forgetting about it for years, so that's nice
Doesn't really interest me.
Parts of it were really good, but it was a little too electro and wacky
Maybe a couple listenable songs, not really my thing
Day 6, and this was the first album I had never heard of or didn't know any of the songs. I loved the album's beginning. I thought the "radio broadcast" vibe was really cool and set the mood. After the first 3 songs, I kinda lost interest. Not because it wasn't good, but it isn't a sound I'd normally cling to. With that being said, I think it has some good and catchy songs that anyone would find fun.
downloaded give up the funk. would keep me great company in the apocalypse.
I'm just not made for this music. Everything sounds the same, it all sounds like a jam gone on too long.
Not my thing
Kinda fun and I liked some of those sci fi bits in the opening but it didn’t evolve that much for me afterwards. Fun fact the first time I heard of George Clinton I assumed he was related to Bill
I don’t like this sound of electronic fart!
Nothin to run tell mama about
The music? Great. The chatting? Irritating.
Vibes are good but i wouldn’t find myself particularly in a funk mood
Fine - funky background. Not entirely to my taste.
I didn’t listen to the full thing but I listened to about half and I do have to say it was very funky and experimental I don’t think I’ve heard any music like this it was good very loud and energetic but I don’t see myself coming back to this album any time soon.
Was that ever funky
Funky and weird. The last song had lots of sounds that sounded like farts—maybe that’s me being childish but it was early when I listened to this. Overall, not something necessarily bad, just something I don’t really want to listen to again. 2.5/5
I’ll stay on Earth
опять всё одна большая песня (/радиозаставка) и опять кажется что где-то уже это было, но фанк нее дляя меняяя
Ha c'est peut-être intéressant
Repetitive, I could hardly listen to it all. I like the album cover, though.
I'll stay on Earth
Actually enjoyed a couple tracks here, which surprised me since extroverted funk usually makes me drift off. “Handcuffs” was the first song that got me moving, followed by “Night of the Thumpasorus Peoples.” Respect to the rest, but they just didn’t do much for me.
This was decent enough and got my feet tapping and hips swinging a bit, but I found it a bit repetitive in terms of the music and the lyrics, and I didn't get the same amount of interest with this that I had with the Funkadelic album, Maggot Brain, so this mark is relative to that. I wasn't surprised to hear hints of Kool and the Gang - this album clearly influenced some of their work - but Give Up The Funk sounds so similar to Fame by David Bowie. I wonder which came first. A high two for me. It was alright, but I'm not a huge fan.
This is my first time really listening to funk, so I certainly found it very interesting. I wouldn't say its something I would listen to again, but I can appreciate the artistry and see why it is such a hit.
I'm not a funk fan for the most part. This was obviously well-made, and it sounds like they had fun making it. It's possible that funk musicians go more for a vibe first and foremost and that some people resonate with that vibe. I just don't. I find it repetitive and uninteresting.
The concept, the imagery, the mythology, it is all very bold and very deliberate, but musically it often feels repetitive and strangely inert. The grooves lock in early and then just stay there, circling without much development, as if the vibe alone is supposed to be enough to sustain interest. What holds it back for me is how little variety there is beneath the surface. Tracks blur together around the same mid-tempo funk strut, with chants and slogans replacing melodies that might actually evolve. The humour and theatricality are obvious, but they wear thin quickly when the songs themselves do not change shape or build toward anything. It starts to feel less like a journey and more like being stuck in the same orbit for far too long. By the time it ends, I am left respecting the influence and the cultural footprint far more than the album itself. There are moments of fun and flashes of personality, but not enough musical payoff to justify the runtime or the reputation. Mothership Connection feels like an idea that mattered more than its execution, and that gap is hard for me to ignore.
I have no idea who this band is or any songs from them. 🤷♀️ P-funk - I was lowkey expecting a synthy electronic album, but I was very surprised that it was funk, no doubt it’s very funky. Was a bit long ngl Mothership connection - lowkey just sounded like the other song, doesn’t rlly grow or change at all Unfunky UFO - sounded extra funky idk how that was possible, but also started sounding repetitive after a bit Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication - same note as the others 🥀🥀 Handcuffs - same note again and again 🥀🥀🥀🥀 Give up the funk - ok deep voice, was lowkey starting to be promising, but still became repetitive 😬 Night of the thumpasorus people - thank god it’s done oh lord Overall - ok I’m not sure if it’s because of this particular album or if I’m just not a big funk fan, but I found this album to be very repetitive. Each song was just the same beat and lyrics repeating lowkey, it didn’t grow change or grow or do anything 🤷♀️ ⭐️⭐️/ 5
Kommer inte lyssna igen
Fun! But ran on a little too long for me in some songs...
If I was listening live, this would be a good time. Doesn't hit the same working at a desk
A lot of potential but I feel like most of the songs didnt reach
The song “Handcuffs” immediately bumped this down to a 2 star album. Gross.
It was aight. There wasn't any particual song that stuck with me. 2.3/5
2.5 - was quite repetitive despite being less than 40 mins
No song that was too memorable, would be interesting to hear live so i have to watch the tiny desk
4.7/10
Alt for meget snak og alt for lidt funk i de første numre. Det blev bedre men aldrig godt.
Kinda cool but bit too out there for me
Good disco/funk band from the 7o’s. Brings back memories.
Classic
Funky, groovy, calming still. A bit repetitive, skipped half of the first song. Does one thing, if that’s what you want, you will be happy. I‘m sorry ‚I have to keep you barefoot and pregnant‘?! Eww.
Awesome stuff Just me for me!
I just don’t like funk. Nothing against the record, it’s just the genre as a whole ain’t for me.
there are some great songs here, but as a whole album I didn't feel it
every song is at least 2 minutes too long
dosta naporno i izrazito repetitivno. "fank fank fank!" dobro, i?
I feel as if I should like this more than I do. I was a little bored, tbh. Maybe it’s better appreciated live? Or maybe I am just so conditioned to funk’s use in pop that the unadulterated thing is too concentrated for me at this point?
Not for me, though I enjoyed the hints of jazz in this
I do love funk music but this was a little heavy for me
I wanted to like this but I really didn’t.
These guys seem like dorks Favorite tracks: Handcuffs, Give Up The Funk
Not feeling the funk this morning... but as funk goes, this group is top notch!
Hmmm.
Love the Funn but still not my fave.
It’s definitely funk, I know that because they keep saying it 😅 It’s a fun listen and I can hear their influence in lots of other bands but it’s probably not one I will seek out to listen to on my own.
very loooong funk songs
Не моё
Too much funk for me, not enough fun
I just could never really get this; there is nothing bad about it, but I just couldn't find anything good about it
Too funky for me :(
2.5 fav: - give up the funk
Really tough to put into context. To me it sounds a little corny and dated, but in the 70s, I bet this blew minds. It’s still good in some respects but I probably won’t listen to it again.
Sorta repetitive
overall not my kind of music, super groovy beats but i prefer singing instead of the main guy just talking over the music, that said, "handcuffs" is a decent track and "give up the funk" is a classic, but, in the last track, "night of the thumpasarus people" half the song sounds like wet farts
Dull.
Det er ikke dårlig, men det er veldig, veldig kjedelig.
It's ok. I quite like the whole interplanetary angle.
Didn't hate it but a bit cheesy in places
Funky. I like it but gotta be in the right mindset
Meh. Funk is not for me.
I like a funky bassline but not this. All a bit daft.
this is quite different to what I usually listen to. it's a great album, js not for me :) I liked the unfunko ufo so though.
Only song that I liked was Hive Ul the Funk
Surprisingly boring album for how 'out of this world' this album presents itself. Every song feels like it's in the exact same tempo, and outside of some funky baselines, there's not much else going on here. Top tracks: Handcuffs, Give Up The Funk
Promised funk. Delivered boredom.
Not my typical listening for sure. It has quite a bit of energy without getting too much on the brain. I could reasonably listen to this as background but cant see a reason why I would want to specifically single it out. Not particularly diverse to my ear.
Un disco de funk...o eso creo. No sé, es muy pesado. Es original por la época, pero tampoco es que haya un talento descomunal aquí.
It was cool (so cool!) but funk is not my thing. Others will LOVE this.
mmmm, not my vibe. Most of the songs kinda sounded the same to me.
Although I know we want the funk and I enjoy other Parliament songs, surprised this didn't get a 3. It's more like 2.5, so it'll be a 2.
Not for me
Tylsää. Kappaleesta toiseen Sama rumpukomppi ja vaskipuuallin, ja sellaista puheen ja laulun sekasotkua. Sinänsä leppoisaa musaa, mutta toistoa toistoa.
a bit too funky for me
Funky? Their soundbites (today) are cheesy and cheap.
I might've rated this a lot higher without the pointless, repetitive spoken word vocals
P-Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up) (3/10) Mothership Connection (Star Child) (4/10) Unfunky UFO (5/10) Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication (5/10) Handcuffs (5/10) Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker) (8/10) Night of the Thumpasorus Peoples (5/10) 5/10
Not for me.
super nervig
The Funk is not in me! Good for 10 minutes but got a bit bored...
Idk, it was so audacious and aggressively funk it earned a few points with me. But it was extremely repetitive and kinda cringe, nice concept tho. Needed better execution and more verses
Would be better as an instrumental album. Hype man vocals are just annoying
I did not enjoy this one really..
Boring
The aliens can keep this one.
Not my cup of tea.
- In Ordnung, aber nichts, was mich total abholt
We got over tha funk
it is okay
Not quite my thing, but the energy was good. I could listen again, but won't choose to in a hurry.
Give up the Funk was the only thing that saved this album from 1 star. And even then, not really much of a fan of that song either.
RnB, Funk, 1975 -> 2
Not my type of music. Long songs with lyrics I didn’t really care for. The instrumental was alright but didn’t itch my brain in a satisfying way.
I think I understand the FUNK, groove and appeal but it’s not really my cup of tea. Where Maggot Brain by Funkadelic felt exhilarating and exciting, this felt more like a pop bob. There is nothing wrong with this and the album is nice to vibe to. But I did not enjoy it. It’s actually exactly the kind of sound and music I turn off whenever I come across it. I don’t like the washed-out sound. The album felt very repetitive to me. But I finished it and it was a new experience. Some of the vocals in the song Unfunky UFO were actually a bit rap-like. Interesting!
Ikke helt min favsjanger, men gøy å få hørt litt funk. Ingen sanger jeg hadde hørt før. Neste takk!
I connect with this much less than Funkadelic, unfortunately. The funk grooves feel a bit one-note to me. I clearly don't have the ability to chill with the best of them. Not a record I can see returning to.
Interesting. Not really my thing but fun enough for one listen.
This is tough. Under the right circumstances, this album works great. But otherwise it’s kind of the same jam for the length with some highlights and low points. I like it but wouldn’t add to rotation.
Funny intro song haha - "That's the law around here, you got to wear your sunglasses, so you can feel cool" I felt the funk, for sure. Very groovy. What a fun album - should be listened to on a sunny day. Like I did. Very groovy, and what a bass. I had a stank face on almost the whole time, haha. And it is stinky, that bass actually sounds like farts, especially the last song. Not usually my kinda music, but I like how it makes me feel; happy. I can't give it a high rating tho. Cause I just wouldn't put this on, and I don't find it super interesting. I can appreciate the good musicians, but it just doesn't make me feel that much, other than, happy. And I kinda need something more from the music I listen to. Again I would like to know the importance of this album
More phunk, no phanks
Very funky, bit goofy. Liked most of the songs but it's nothing special for me.
28/02/25 2nd jazz album in a row and a 2nd disappointment.
I appreciate George Clinton and have seen him live but I can't get through this bands studio albums
Lot of talk about ''funk'' ,A fun but not very diverse album. Not exactly my style but I dont hate it either
It’s exactly what I expected. I probably would’ve liked it more if I had some cocaine
Ok
was okay. Liked the funk, did not really like the spaceship theme
Pretty basic funk, slightly boring
The music isn't bad. Just not my cup of tea. I think the first song set the tone well. But every song after felt like the same song continued. Nothing separates each song. Felt like I was on a funky train, but I desperately want to get out. If I had to have a favorite, Handcuffs, just because the lyrics are funny.
2.5 stars for wanting the funk
Basically lots of talking. I didn’t really care for that.
Turns out I'm not a huge fan of funk music but it did have a couple good songs.
I don't really like funk so I didn't really like the album. Some of the later songs were better than the first few
Some classics but mostly repetitive
This was going to be a 3, but it lost me with the final track which sounded like the aftermath of a bad curry…
Is there a thing as too much funk?? I didn’t think it was possible but I think I found it here. Just a lot of groovy beats but no real melody and nothing super outstanding to me.
I thought it would be better. I was wrong. 2 stars, but barely.
Not my cup of tea. I think I just wasn't in the mood for this kind of sound, it kind of pissed me off.
Funky. But not as good as I wanted it to be. Songs were overlong and repetitive. I wanted it to be shorter, punchier. Instead I just got bored.
The camp factor is off the charts with this one, which I enjoy. I'm just not that much of a soul/funk guy.
Really love some of Parliament's albums but this one isn't in that collection. After a while, the word funk starts to grate on you.
Groupe totalement inconnu. Quel groove ! =>2/5
It´s groovy, psychedelic and the lyrics are quite fun to listen to, but I don't like funk.
The opener P-Funk is great and there is the famous Give Up the Funk. Mothership Connection is pretty far out there maaaaannnn. Respect the creativity 5.2/10
before: very excited about this one, I love me some good 70s while listening: well, at least i know this is not my type of music. it’s not bad, but i can’t vibe on it. I only liked Unfunky UFO :)
Boy oh boy Scoob! Was this funky. Zoinks!
I wanted to like it. I really did. I was hoping it was going to be down the lines of Funkadelic’s “Maggot Brain”. Technically, I guess it is down the lines of saying is that it is funk, but I thought maggot brain was brilliant where this one just feels repetitive. I understand groove, but repetition is not necessarily groove. I understand it’s importance and definitely recognize some of its influence to culture, but as a whole, this one’s not for me.

not for me
Nice funky mood the whole album long - but nothing that hooks me. 2,5
Not much here. 1 good song
2 Not my cup of tea. I tend to listen to lyrics first, and these songs lyrics just promotes the band…telling us over and over how cool they are. Well, maybe they are. But I dont care. I do like the groove though, makes me want to dance.
it ain't for me, sounded like the happy tune when the credits roll at the end of a movie
Enjoyed recognizing samples. Appreciate what it is to others but not for me.
it was alright, something I wouldn’t listen to often but also didn’t not like
Tanto Funk. Bello il Funk. Amo il funk.
Funky but nah.
