Reviews (page 7 of 7)
Didn't like it much, not what I'm looking for. It sounded pretty cool but I find it hard to listen to a full album of music I can't understand. 3/8, fav track NONE.
I liked a few songs. 2/5
Some Brazilian music. it was ok for what it was but not really for me
1978: Sai Dessa, Tiro Ao Álvaro
good
Could certainly take it or leave it. Honestly, I'd rather leave it given I was told the reason we don't have many blues icons (but seem to have every single album ever released by a British guy who ever played the blues) is because the list "doesn't do compilations" but this is a compilation. So yeah, I would have given it 2 stars but it drops down to 1 because I'm petty
I could only find a live recording of this and it was awful
This sucks. This is going to be a long 48 minutes. What's with all the Brazilian music? I don't have any problem with saying there's music outside of the English speaking world...but we've mostly gotten US/UK music and the World music selections have been mostly from sub-Saharan Africa and Brazil. This album is terrible. Even for Brazilian music, this is awful. The incorporation of other styles of music with more traditional Brazilian forms (read: bossa nova) feels forced. Rebento is very different and the best song on the album. It's like Brazilian lady Michael McDonald. Or kmaybe the Brazilian lady Rupert Holmes? Even if she does sound like cheesy 80s pop on the back half of the album, it is vastly superior to the first half. She's got kind of a Carly Simon vibe too.
what the fuck
What is this shit
Boring.
I gave this album three listens hoping I would fall under its sway, but it never happened. Bossa nova, samba and other Brazilian styles have yet to click with me. It has no bite, boogie or oddball features to hold my attention. A few acoustic guitar records have made my list of records to own. This one was dull to my ears. I suppose a subtle romantic tide is supposed to wash over me, but I came away with little. The record also has late 1970s jazz fusion sounds. The methods of recording, and effects musicians used at the time border on Muzak. They have a brittle artificial sound that hits my high register in an annoying fashion. While countless reviews tout the skills of these players, both American and Brazilian, I cannot get into the instrumental passages. Regina did not bother me as much as the music, however she could not transcend it either. I will await further Brazilian style records on the list, and hope for the better.

Not for me, didn't like any of it
It was nothing special, just very average easy listening that my dad would have liked.
Not quite punchy or fun enough to catch my ear. I grew bored after 6 songs. It never really got going, whilst the first song was catchy it didn't sustain my interest at all.
The first bossanova record I got that was not a Giberto. I can now officially say I'm not a fan.
Not my type of music at all
Not really my taste, got bored
I thought this was nearly over, I checked and I was on track 5 of 13. Awful, tedious, bossa funk / jazz thing.
No thanks
This album was a complete miss for me... Not a real album but some compilation, not in English so I could not understand it, not the type of music I like. I am sure she was a wonderful musician, but not my thing.
Not for me.
Hell nah…not my kind of music
not streamable
Don't tell ICE that she's Brazilian
Maso
The only saving grace for me was that I couldn't understand the lyrics. Elevator music.
Didn't work for me.
nah
Ok
"(Portuguese)" Listened to B4? No Tracks Already Saved on Spotify: None Standout Tracks: Vento de Maio, Tiro Ao Alvaro, A very disjointed record. Distant. And just not my thing. (44/100)
Awful
Really?
Not my cup of tea
This must be what it’s like to be on hold in a Latin country.
Took a few times to finally get through this album. I kept finding reasons to turn it off before forcing it back on.
Brazilian disco and a lot of ballads. Not really something I can sink my teeth into. Could be an anime outro.
Ei oikein minun musaa. Vaikea oli kuunnella mutta tulipahan kuunneltua.
Listened Before? N What in the... obscure, foreign, unavailable stuff is this? No thanks. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Can't because its unavailable.
Ik wil gewoon Engelstalige muziek. Hier kan ik niks mee
Unlistenable
Zu turbulent. Jazz und Diese Musik packt mich null.
I think we all know what rating I was going to give this. Just a waste of everyone's time
Pretty bad
I swear I didn't select foreign music for ratings. I like the music a bit, but can't understand a single lyric. 1/5
Bit odd that an album with little information, hard to track down and a compilation is on this list. Be that as it may I dutifully listened to what I could from a variety of streaming sources but that big effort was a sheer waste of time. This music will sound great if drinking cocktails and watching the Samba on the Copacabana but little effect on me on a dull January day in Yorkshire. I blame it on the Bossa Nova 1/5 29/1/25
Nah
Nothing special - all songs blended together.
Probably the worst latin music album we have listened to so far. Just sounded like bad bossa nova disco. 1.5/5
I didn't give it to close of a listen, but could not get into the slow saxophone. Maybe there is a better album to listen to, but generally a little too slow jazz for my preference.
Good music for a restaurant.
I’m not feeling it. I don’t understand it, so I kinda have to go by feeling more than anything else.
I’ve liked a lot, probably most, of the Brazilian entries on this list. This one, though… starts off with some promise, but quickly deteriorates into Easy Listening garbage. Background music for a geriatric singles cruise.
Nope
Could not listen. Not on Spotify.
Couldn't locate this album. Seems like it's a combination of multiple albums. Skipping this.

Tiedätkö, loppua kohti tämä menee kohtalaisen siedettäväksi. Mutta esim. Saudade Eterna:ssa on inhokkipotentiaalia.
Not my bag
Gosh no.
It's in a foreign language?
Voice and music too dated, singing a bit too cabaret for me.
Kann ich nicht fair bewerten. Nicht meine Musik. (1/5)
I'm not Hispanic!
Varför???
I didnt care for this one her voice was like nails on a chalkboard
Felt like I've been put on hold for an hour.
No thank you.
No hablo espanol. Sounded nice but I didn’t know what was going on and not even quite sure I listened to the right album. Apple didn’t have it. 2.0/10
Not really my thing.
If this is a seminal album blending two genres for the first time, I think you had to be there to appreciate it.
Spanish
There’s very few non English albums that I can connect with and this is not one of them. It’s really unfair to judge the record without knowing any of the lyrical content but the songs just blend together too much for me to get in to.
Verschrikkelijke muzak
Trash
i feel like the list includes albums like this to keep you on your toes and make sure you’re listening to each album. And if you give this anything higher than a 1 you prob weren’t listening close enough
I don't like this music at all. I know it's sad she died young and everything. I just can't connect with the style of music or the dated Portuguese pop.
I really want to give this a chance. I've bitched plenty that this list is clearly the work of UK and US critics elevating British and American bands at the expense of so many acts from around the world. I also get that this woman was a really big deal in Brazil. But damn... it's just some obnoxious synthy, disco-era sounding, smooth jazz, pop.
In Italian, 70s sounding soft music. Ok
i hate this. SHACK for PM.
Pish
Pretty boring overall. the worse version of the title track. why is a Portuguese album on this list
I am not sure this album knows what it wants to be. Jazz? Pop? Disco? Who knows? This album was not good.
some Spanish album... 1/5. Would not listen again.
Shite.
May wind blow this one away.... light listening.... good voice with very little instruments....
Eli’s had a beautiful voice. Not being bi-lingual was a definite block in understanding lyrics. With that being said I feel unqualified to give this album a fair rating. The music was pleasant playing in the background. Will mention it was difficult to find the album.
Not sure what to make of this. No idea on the lyrics (for obviously reasons) and the songs seems a bit overly complexed with a lot going on.
