Within seconds first thoughts: this is something I would never pickup on my own but damn do I feel cool listening to it already. Also, is the universe trying to send subliminal messages - I have definitely been trying to pick up the pieces after being a little child runnin' wild... - "Who is the mayor who makes all things fair?" oh buddy, huh, let me tell you Pusherman: what a punchy intro, but the first bar is fire idk why the vocals are just clean. Freddie's Dead: I love all of the artist's vocalizations. So far this album has just been classic 70s, funky, smoothness (I don't listen to this genre much so I'm not really keyed in on what kind of stuff makes this particularly good for it's style, but it's giving me all of the right feelings for the time period!) My favorite part so far, other than the fire vocals, is all of the different instruments I'm noticing - as someone who listens to a lot of rock, rap, more electric stuff, you don't get to experience a marimba (played live at least), flute, sax etc. and I'm really into the big band / jazz band vibes. Junkie Chase - okay bring out the overdramatic montage chase scene. This funky guitar shit is so classic. It's also for some reason making me think of Family Guy... IDK if it's the fact that I'm browsing one of the most beautiful/"me" indie websites while I listened, but the song Think really made me /feel/, ironically. Overall thoughts: this album just felt classic, even though it was the first time I had heard it (or is it? I can't escape the feeling that it was at least reminiscent of music I've heard before. Perhaps it is safer to say it was the first time I have listened to it.) It's not something I see myself coming back to time and again, although I really enjoyed it as a background setting to some more contemplative moments that I was experiencing while reading through someone's personal indie website/blog/gallery as I unwound at the end of the night... alright I've changed my mind, I do hope to come back to it again, in quite moments like these.
