Mambo Sun: This song was kinda chill, it was based around a chord progression on the guitar and the hook was the singer saying “for you” at the end of every stanza. It slowly built up towards the end and stopped without any huge release. Definitely feels like an opener. Cosmic Dancer: Acoustic and Strings. Ok I liked this one a lot, definitely more than the first one. Another slow buildup but I feel like it had more of a payoff. The end was particularly good, I loved the instrumental section with guitar and violins. Jeepster: A lot more upbeat, same deal with the slow buildup. I liked how the guitar solos with the singing at the end to keep it interesting. Weird screaming at the end. Monolith: I also really liked this one. The backup singing is what stood out to me. I also liked the lyrics. Lean Woman Blues: Also liked this one. Seems like pretty traditional blues to me, it had a really cool descending guitar riff a few times that I liked. Bang a Gong (Get it On): Not sure how I feel about it. I saw it had way more streams than the other songs on the album but so far it’s not my favorite. Seems a little shallow. Planet Queen: This is probably my least favorite so far. No part of it really interested me. Girl: Back to something I liked. The trumpets were really good and it might have my favorite lyrics so far. The Motivator: Another good one. The lyrics were interesting, they started out a little shallow but had a sudden turn to be a little more odd and loved how the music built up around that switch. Life’s a Gas: wow, one of my favorites. Great lyrics, great vibe. Felt like a series of lifting you up and then bringing you back down to earth. Rip Off: The most unique. Not sure how I feel. Kinda weird. Saxophone? Not my favorite but interesting to say the least. Really enjoyed this. Had a few songs I didn’t care for but the ones that hit, hit hard. Does a very good job of doing a lot with a little, everything was surprisingly simple. Liked the surprise instruments that pop up here and there.
