Listened to this while working on assignments, but really enjoyed it. Sick rock instrumentals and solos and a groovy vibe, really reminds me of my mum. This whole album has that kinda tongue and cheek sarcastic mood, but has some really upbeat songs too. Top song: Hangin on the telephone, perfect start to a great album. solid 7.5/10.
I love this album, such a classic with some absolutely banging tunes, fond memories of listening with close friends on car trips. This album has some absolute classics such as brothers in arms, walk of life, and of course, money for nothing, owner of one of the best riffs and guitar tones of all time. Top pick: Your latest trick, was my favourite song for a solid 6 months, never gets old. This one is an easy 9/10 from me
Incredibly groovy and cool, love all the instrumentals, it really feels like something out of the 60s or 70s. Some very different vibes and genres covered throughout too. Light was such an amazing ending to this brilliant album, will definately be listening to this one again, a few songs already made the playlist. 8.5/10 4 stars
Such a cool album, my dad grew up in south africa so its amazing to hear some african music. I love the fusion of jazz and afropop, really cool and fun. The jazz guitar on Lakutshon'Ilanga was so beautiful, its cool to hear jazz that was inspired by african music in an album with traditional african songs. Great vibe on this album, very meaningful and politically potent in apartheid south africa, i have to give this one 7.5/10, 4 stars.
Ambitions start to a cool album, a 20 minute song is always intimidating but it kept me entertained, many different vibes on one track. It was fun, but didn't really hold my attention the whole way through. I also don't love the voice of the sing. All in all, good album but not really my vibe, 5/10 with 3 stars.
I was really excited to see this one pop up, its been on my list for a hot minute and I was not disappointed. The start to this album is really nice, slowly building in energy, with both emotional quieter tracks and some angsty punkish rock tracks. As annoying as Billy Corgan's voice is, despite all my rage i am still just a rat in a cage is a great lyric for that chorus. I was really surprised by some of the tracks on side one, notably love, Galapogos and take me down, really beautiful and sensitive instrumentals. I've heard some complaints about the overly dramatised lyrics but tbh I dont really focus on lyrics when I listen, more of an instrumental person so I didn't hate this album. Gonna give this one 7.2/10 and 4 stars, subtracting points for the length, (side 1 was great but 2 was a bit of a drag), and because Billy Corgan is a bit of a stuck up wanker. Update, im halfway through the second disk and im getting sick of it, this is lucky to get away with 4 stars.
Good album all in all but a bit sames same and cliche. Lots of nostalgia tough, still a solid album in my books, other than some problematic lyrics. 6/10 3 stars
