"Brown Sugar" is an unreal opener, about as perfect as it gets for setting the tone of this album. With the exception of "Slow Horses" and the closer "Moonlight Mile," the slower songs didn't stick to me the way the looser jams or boogies do. This might be a reviewer cliché, but "Can't You Feel Me Knocking" feels like the sun this album orbits around. Those Latin drums are incredible. "Moonlight Mile" does seem to presage the 1990s/2000s Britpop explosion, so it's kind of fitting to bring this sonic collage of an album to a close with it. Don't you hear Oasis?
