Highlights: Crack Rock, Bad Religion, Sierra Leone -> Super Rich Kids sequence
Eye of the Beholder was alright. One was the only one that felt fresh. It was singular song with a different sound on the set off. Every other track ran together as one run-on guitar trill. So much guitar and only guitar. I like it but I don't want to, just a basic thrash metal album.
First 40 seconds of the album had me excited. At 0:43 in track 1, Fast Cars, I was no longer excited. The lead vocalist does not sing. It's a nauseating squeal. Not enjoyable. When the group sings or is in chorus, it's nice maybe even good. Unfortunately, that is rare. It was about track 4 until a passable song. I'm a fan of the genre given the instrumental sound but the screechy vocals were a complete turn off.
Really easy listening. No standouts but nothing bad. Really good "average" album. Sounds clean for a 60s album. Nice cohesive sound while still having plenty of variety. Probably SS 396 being the only song that was close to a turn off (song about a car), but I'll give them some slack as a product of their time.
