1001 Albums Summary

A fun product of the 1970s Berlin and Japan fever. Loved--conceptually--the V2-Schneider diss track. The whole album feels less revolutionary these days, though, and I had to remind myself the whole time how novel this was because I wasn't super stoked by the music itself. Favorites: Sons of the Silent Age, "Heroes," Moss Garden, Neuköln

Gorgeous. Perfect for twilight/nighttime listening. Great blend of predictable and unpredictable, and feels as fresh today as it must have in 1959. Favorites: Blue in Green, Flamenco Sketches

Started off shaky, but the blowout singles off this album are still as fun and interesting as they were three decades ago. Their sound blends too much on the last half of the album, making the album cohesive but a little repetitive to me as a listener. Favorites: Longview, Welcome to Paradise, Basket Case, Sassafras Roots, F.O.D.

A surprising listen given what I understand of Led Zeppelin's music--their less famous songs are far folksier than I ever assumed. Favorites: Black Dog, Misty Mountain Hop, When the Levee Breaks
