songs end abruptly but so fun to dance to! ahh! feel like going to paradise lost. makes me want to play the music really loud!!!! so driving and fun. got totally lost, loved it. reminded me of vinyl set. wondered how old they were when they recorded this and posed for the album cover. so cool. NY!!! wanna go to 53rd & 3rd hahaha. what was the reason. xo
it's hot out today in may, perfect album for the temp & time, somehow. love the sound of the guitars in this, even though they're cleaner than my norm they have so much pain and heart. love the horns too. the band just sounds, together. soulful, sad, fun, sweet, sensual. wonder what the recording history was for this. & story behind album cover. what's the otis redding vocal care.
oh my god am so excited. ive gotten nothing but bangers so far. this is my 3rd album. oh hellll yeah off to a great start hahhaa. i love how they sound tired, but also angry, but also alive, but also fed UP, but also like they couldn't give one less of a shit. scentless apprentice made me have the impulse to turn it down, but i HATED that impulse so I turned it up instead. HAHA. heart shaped box felt like it came out of nowhere. this whole album i was just like "holy shit" the whole time. why is it called in utero. its beautiful. im beside myself. 6 stars. why did they start this band. im obsessed. goooddddddd. god its such a jam.
iconic, distinct sound / vox. jammy, dancy. though, im confused what he's about.. what's your deal, elvis costello! im not sure im into the vowels? though that's what makes his voice iconic. hahaha maybe this one needs a second listen from me. cool though that it was 1977, i couldnt really tell what year, or even decade this is from. innovative, or nostalgic? who is this album for? and are we leaning even a little bit into parody?
cinematic. dreamy. nostalgic. thoughtful. delicate. precious. (occasional dark humor leaning .. ableist?) i loved the flute, the rounded, whole guitar sound and gentle, intricate storytelling. i listened to this walking along the river in a light rain.
as this started, I almost forgot I was listening to the album, lol and not just my heartbeat. it's kinda magical, an invocation! like entering a portal into the album, into their world. they sound so .. young here? this ROCKS. white queen (as it began). such a vibe. they were playing (& around). they meant business lol. ogre battle are we kidding ahaha amazing. fun!!! the transitions between songs. beautiful. magic. ..it's a journey.
invocation. love. play. ethereal. seductive. transporting. a vibe. transcendent. home. fuck. how can an album be so good. touched by the gods. holy guitar. wah. wailing. ELECTRIC.
ope! sunshine babyyyy. groovy sun, i feel like im on a boat, or walking in the city in the summer. their sounds are soo cool & innovative. (okayy ernie!? holy fuzz!) hm. is this ... yacht soul? idk if im the exaaact audience for this album (what woman hurt you, ronald!?) but im still groovin and there are LEGENDARY songs here.
oh, my god. this is, a vibe. the words are really clear! and said in an iconic, twangy, honky-tonk .. ? way. sometimes super lowww (streets of laredo!). love the slide / steel pedal guitar sound and general guitar tone on this album. wait im ... kinda obsessed with this. ope HMMM wham bam thank ye maaam HMMMJ that might be a point docked cap idk hahah are we joking or are we serious. WHAT good times are you lettin' ROLL, Buck?
*stank face*
yes. oh my god.
lol great breakup album. love the horns and the groove and soul and her voice UGH incredible storyteller. emotion, feeling, wailing, slow, vibe, meaningful, smooth, exciting, invigorating, inspiring. the backing vocalists (cissy houston on ain't no way!? high notes!). people get ready. the piano ah everything, everything.
so excited for this one. <3 dreamy! dancy. vibey. was nodding along in the first minute. driving beats. transporting. it's amazing humans can produce such fun, interesting art - music and sounds. Tha! ahh the bass in Ageispolis hahaa. bouncee. the mix between soft and hard. I going into Green Calx. it's fun when the 90s sounds come out. sometimes I can't tell what year this is from and others I'm like, ayyy. haha. listening to the whole album was interesting, I think after awhile sonically .. fatiguing just a little bit for some reason? but that thought is broken up by trying to figure out how certain sounds were made. over all really fun, discovery, and vibing.
beautiful guitar tone. hopeful. resolved, open. storytelling. timeless. interesting, distinct vocal tone & vowel sounds. love the guitars. i like how the songs conclude. inspiring words & story. she's from the UK??? loved save me, it was almost religious. fun progression through the album, gets groovy, dancy, funky. break with somebody who loves you (one of my other favorites from the album!). a great album! makes you believe in love, the possibilities of love, and shows the impact of love & past love.
oh i like this already. <3 the vocals. soft, poetic. be how it is. underlying restlessness but also calm? interesting juxtaposition. there's like a tiredness but also a resoluteness. a wariness but telling the story anyway. gentle and tired. i think the title track is my favorite. bringing / giving the last spoons. letting it be how it is. love, despite it all.
love the vocals: the extra accents, interpretations of the sounds and meanings of the words. erratic. reverent & irreverent. sick bass. some songs feature 8-bit-video-game-esque intros/outros/elements. live section of album - awesome drums. favorite song: frightened.
even from the first three words - incredible. 'situationnn'. favorite song: lost ones. doo wop (that thing). everything is everything. idk im just speechless and grooving. love the kids voices & storytelling about love.
iconic, dancy, catchy, fun, sad, emotional, 'introspective', poppy, fantastical, dreamy?, produced, of its time. idk it's interesting listening now because i'm aware of the tiktok sound trends, memes, and what madonna is today. wonder what the listening / enjoying experience was in 1989. fave songs probably like a prayer, cherish, and oh father. this is like a 3.85 for me bc idk if the introspection is real or for the records to sell and i think its a mix of both.
