drums and piano are fun. Very kate bush, very lyrical. Chord progressions and melodies/riffs go a little crazy ngl. Very fascinating stuff mixing is really satisfying to listen to. very bluesy rock. admittedly the vocals are not really my vibe. i do really like the guitar. drums are ok vocals on the goods gone are a lot nicer. tbh in general i like the backing vocals just fine, the leads are just a bit too glottal for me. i cant listen to them without my voice hurting because im imagining how bad it would kill my throat to sing my generation is the exception because that just sounds fun. call and response can always get it & i like how the stuttering leans into it. ngl saved the album for me guitar you are so beautiful. the drums in the ox go kind of crazy highlights: my generation, the ox

fuuuuck this album is so good! i heard rehab at work yesterday and i was trying to place it but didnt know why i knew it. assumed the singer was Black because damn what a beautiful voice. such a nice soul sound, & the brass goes crazy IS THIS WHERE WHAT KIND OF FUCKERY IS THIS IS FROM. jesus i should have listened to this album years ago nothing much to say about this album that im sure hasnt already been said. incredible vocals, beautiful instrumentals, a gorgeous swung soul sound, ticks all my boxes. god damn. what a sincerely relaxing listen. no wonder people love amy winehouse i went trawling her wikipedia because i realised i genuinely dont know much about her aside from her name, and its really heartening hearing about how her success was the driving force to get producers to bring on more female artists in the alt-pop scene. a little embarassing that i didnt know about her before but the second best time to learn about her is today highlights: rehab <3

tossed up on which mix to listen to- listened to search and destroy once with the 2023 iggy mix, once with the 2023 bowie mix, then again with the iggy mix and stuck with that one. guitar loses a bit of the edge but i do like the loud bass. its nice in my ears. i should read about the loudness wars classic rock album. nothing for me to write home about honestly, this kind of rock isnt really my style alas i need somebody is nice. i would love to learn how this kind of slow rock is done because i tried composing some recently and it was hard!!!! highlights: penetration (crazy vocals!!)

idk what to call this genre. its some sort of ambient electronic? i do like it. the vocals are kind of hard to parse but the progressions are really pretty. did they sample bird sounds on the first track? loving these synths but i cant help but wish there were no vocals tbh. i would prefer it as an instrumental. track 3 vocals are ok i guess, kinda lenka-esque. analog synths i love you forever!!!! oh the vocals are bringing me out of it again. man its genuinely rough because i KNOW its just a stylistic choice, and if it was any other timbre this album would be one of my favourites. unfortunately i think this is the uk's fault somehow. i become more ok with the vocals when there are drums present. i guess its just that i feel the vocals lag behind the rest of the instruments, but when theres a stronger rhythm track i dont mind it really feeling that one sentiment of "a good thing will make you happy a bad thing will make you annoyed but a thing that is 70% good will haunt you for the rest of your life" highlights: a & e

this one has a cute introduction. wiki article describes this as honky tonk which is a genre ive only heard in name. the walking bassline and violin are super cute together highlights: none. i liked listening to it, but its old country blues, which i dont feel too strongly about.

kate bush always a banger. love listening to her glide across the instruments. theres a nice timbral variety here, im hearing pads + guitar + plucks, some kind of reed & 808. is it weird to say this instrumental reminds me of the ds pokemon mystery dungeon games or perhaps chrono trigger / earthbound yeah this is great 80s music. big fan of the spoken word sections and the juxtaposing of free rhythm against the rhythm section. listening to this feels lonely, but not in a bad way. like being alone with something, not another person, but some kind of other presence that you are alone together with. jesus christ never be mine does kind of go hard. ms bush why do all your songs sound like vgm highlights: yes. the fog, deeper understanding, never be mine

hoo boy this has a 23 minute song. lets see if they earn it classic blues sound. reading the wiki article tells me its jam band which i guess explains the album length lol. i like the vibes, definitely an album you can just chill and listen to. stormy monday has some great rock organ, and the guitar kind of goes crazy ngl. the more up tempo stuff i can kinda bop along to as well. damn that solo at the end of you dont love me that ended up being more than half the length of the full song. AND THEN THEY PUT JOY TO THE WORLD IN THERE... i get why this genre exists. its not really for me because i dont have the endurance to listen to a 30 minute song with that much attention but if i had to pick an album highlights: stormy monday, you dont love me

bob dylan is one of those names i always hear about but i dont know if ive ever properly listened to him. they named the damn magazine after this album. i can definitely hear the bones of modern rock in this album, it feels like its in this weird transitory space between blues and rock to me, which does make sense considering. it feels just a little like slam poetry honestly even though the sound is a bit too country for me the lyrics rule. this guy is funny. holy shit is that an andalusian cadence i think im in love.
