A fierce battle between tranquility and psychedelic chaos. I used to feel this album was overrated but upon listening again it really is an immersive journey through a bloody colour pallet. Having to bear in mind that this album was incredibly ahead of its time and nothing ever really caught up with it. Within You Without You is the only track I don’t feel fits. But you can’t have a rock song without a sitar! 9.6/10
A prime example that an album can be overly stacked, even when the majority of the songs are at an excellent calibre. OutKast at their creative peak, consistent, incredibly produced tracks can still feel repetitive if there is over 2 hours worth of them. I feel good albums need a relative punch to them to enhance impact although the album divides itself, I’m Outkasted out by the first half. 6.5/10
What I’d call a very solid Radiohead album. Not quite at the calibre of their high standard stuff but solid for Radiohead is good for anything else… slightly too mopy at times but ill sit it at a solid 7/10 in my books
A vibrant and demanding presence on this live jazz record. Crowd participation and announcement interludes contribute to the experience. Particularly admired the unconventional works of the trumpeter on Festival Junction. Throughout this record we won’t just witness the riff of spontaneity of the live jazz experience, but also time travel to the slight spice that the 50’s carried. I’ve been to Ronnie Scott’s in ‘26 yet something still feels difference here. The rowdiness in crowd prevention is incredible and the way it recharges itself and merges into Skin Deep is awesome.
A quick one while he’s away is my favourite song by the who. Absolutely chaotic album but I love the atmosphere it creates.
One of my favourite stories in musical history and an outstanding testament to a graceful final bow. as a heavy admirer of the works of Rick Rubin, what himself and Cash achieved with the American series is breathtaking. The album represents what it means to be the last one standing in the end, where all you’ve ever gathered or earned is decaying around you - you look back on you life with heavy regret, a slight sense of glory and the grace and dignity that comes in the end of an imperfect but legendary legacy. Also wherever figured out Fiona Apple would sound good with Johnny Cash deserves a special medal.
Definitely one of the guitarists of all time,
Very yeah yeah yeahs. I get a bit too familiar with the vocals after a while.
Good intro few tracks, I think it’s important to understand tht what destiny’s child does, it does well. Masters the R&B category. Is it for me? No. The album has a concrete selection of music fails to take me anywhere imaginatively and fails to be ambitious with its storytelling variation. I guess that’s what I prioritise with albums. Anyone can produce bangers, but can you utilise music to create a new world for us to explore? That’s what it takes to produce a good album.
Two singles stand out on this record of course - papa was a rolling stone and the first time ever I saw your face, which frankly reminded me too much of will from the inbetweeners.
Just couldn’t get into it. Had potential but falls flat.
aside from a banging lead single I failed to have any surprise or enthralment from this listening experience.
Music that helps you think. I like it.
Classic record from the late and great Nick Drake. Makes me want to go and live in the country, be a detectorist and drink real ale whilst eating pork scratching - wait I do that already! Rest in peace x
Excellence lyricism and storytelling from Mitchell, California being a cult classic in my rankings.
I find stings vocals too whiny at times. A solid album with solid music but a lot of the time I find it just sounding too similar with an overlay of whine.
Like a worse Duran Duran. Couldn’t stand it.

Soulful, whimsical, tiptoeing jazz.
If mick jagger joined the who
Decent move album but honestly nothing memorable
Outstanding work. Incredibly trippy and experimental for its time but certainly pays off as an excellent storytelling experience.
Some smooth and sexy soul for a hot summers morning, driving with the windows down.
Laid back, brilliant instrumentals, self assured of the vibe it’s going for but the vocals, to me, are far too similar and predictable,
Strong bit of soul first track carried the album
Slow start but really finishes strong. Maggie May and I know I’m losing you are very strong tracks.
Brilliant work. Proper 2000s, lonely but cool woman vibes. ‘No one understands me’ type shi
Emotional rollercoaster of an album that aims to carry you through it. Picks you up, throws you in, takes you back out again. The artist is in control, not you.
