Bookended by two great tracks. Not my kind of music but definitely had something to give. Enjoyed down the middle of the road.
Raw. A first foray into a solo album for Grohl with an insight into Foo Fighters before their existence as we know it. Cookie cutter rock so meh from me. A couple good songs save this from a 2. Shoutout Weenie Beenie.
Wow. Unexpected gem. Guitar work on this record is absolutely phenomenal and the sound is so creative. Was between a 4 and 5 but the TASTEFUL guitar swung me.
I didn't dislike this as much as I thought I would have.. ABBA are so overplayed but the fun police didn't arrive and I actually enjoyed this. First half is way stronger than the second though.
Perfectly pleasant but not much else to it. Easy listening but Willie can be a bit dreary. Did almost send me to sleep. Liked the jazzier parts.
Exceeded my expectations, wasn't expecting the blend of mellow indie and upbeat dance/electronic. Simple stuff but kept it versatile - lead vocals especially good. The acoustic versions are also a treat. Slightly reminiscient of Wolf Alice.
Nirvana's best album. Love this as an intro to the genre. Only a four because I think so many of that era do it better.
Drivel. Geometry dash ahh. There's a reason you need to have temporarily have lost half your brains cells to listen to this beep boop crap
I'm sure I may have enjoyed this on another day, but it felt like I was slogging to the finish. Only really liked The Battle of Epping Forest. Prog rock can hit, this was not one of them days.
Decent stand up routine. Found it jokes that a bunch of cons were losing their mind at a swear word. Think if if wasn't live I wouldn't have been that arsed though
Hadn't listened to AC/DC in yonks. Forgot how bluesy they are. Beating Around The Bush riff was a smash. Probably my third favourite record of theirs. Hard choice between 3 and 4 but going 4 for nostalgia bias.
A couple of songs on this record were Talking Heads at their best - Life During Wartime was a highlight. A lot of filler, though, every song melded into one. Not bad but not great.
Some super cool, chilled out soul. I liked it but it wasn't something I'd go back to of my own accord. Maybe a bit 21st century of me but I wanted more songs with more direction and less meandering. Enjoyed
Painful listen. +1 star for making me laugh with incredulity that this went 14x platinum, two songs were entertaining and the production was good, the rest was unlistenable
Transported me into a Tennessee jazz/swing bar in the 50s/60s. Such an immersive record, full of energy. Great listen.
Yeehaw slop. Was so boring and samey that I didn't even realise it had ended
I could only listen to the 45 minute 'best of'. She has a great voice but jazz is not my cup of tea and certainly would die of boredom over a behemoth 3 and a half hours.
Disarm is a masterpiece. Great angsty and raw record. Could have been ~15-20 minutes shorter and kept me wanting more. Sometimes Corgan's vocals can get grating, but I liked it so much I went back for a second listen.
Just boring for me. Some great psychedelica guitar licks and atmosphere but I prefer the more lyrically driven, upbeat parts. Some of this album really drones on.
Not a fan of punk really. An entertaining and biting record but it lacks any change of pace. Not bad but didn't convert me either
This album increased my aura points by one million. If every song were La Grange this would be a 5.
I said at the start I don't want to be too liberal with 5s but this was so unique and full of sonic flavour. I would have never even known this record existed without this challenge so wahey
A lot of early punk is too 1-dimensional for me and this was no exception. If you like it, I get it. But this felt like a 40-minute song and was not memorable.
Standard Stones. Some belters, some guff. Good listening experience but nothing blew me away. Woo woo
The Beatles b-sides, is that you???
I understand powerful grief is entrenched in this album but it didn't make the listen any less excruciating.
Complete nostalgia bias. One of my favourite albums on the bus to school in my teens. Not even their best album and full of screamers. Iconic
Fantastic album throughout. Perfect for a rusty hangover.
Bruce Springsteen: depression edition. Some good songs. Don't think I'd come back
Immersive and phenomenal. Can't help but bust a move. For sure a guilty pleasure record.
Christina has an unreal voice. Shame that this record is a clusterfuck of overproduced poo. Could have been half the length, and feel like her talent is wasted on some of these numbers.
Simply a really nice, thoughtful record. Some really clever arrangements and complexity in especially the guitar playing. His vocal sound doesn't pull up trees but a great album.
Was like The Smiths without Johnny Marr. Mid but do appreciate the uniqueness of Morrisey's voice and I enjoyed it. Shoutout out to You're The One For Me Fatty
Listened to the whole thing yday morning and can't remember much. Not a bad listen but not memorable by any stretch.
This guy can really drone on. Who told blud he could sing or play guitar
A good album. Oasis clearly ripped a few of these riffs off lol. For its time, impressive but wish it gave me just a bit more in terms of variation and risk
Easy access jazz. Defo all stolen from Brazilian artists (speculation). The right length for a jazz album. A groove
Quite surprising but I f w this a lot. Not my kind of jam but sounds like it stood the test of time to me.
The safest rock n roll bet. The banker
PURE CHEESE. Never heard so many unnecessary pinch harmonics. Musically genius? No. A blast to listen to? Absolutely.
She has a great voice when singing. Squeals like nails on a chalkboard. Some bangers brings this up to a 3 for me.
This was like if Happy Monday, Pet Shop Boys, and Daft Punk had a threesome on acid and MDMA. Felt a bit dated but some songs had a serious groove to them. The album was too top heavy, but I was interested throughout despite its length.
This was really dissapointing. Maybe my expectations were too high, Heroes is a great song but the rest of the album felt so so dry.
I don't know why I expected more but this was painfully manufactured and lacked any soul past song two. Email my heart is a contender for the worst song I have ever heard. Music like this is not designed for albums, may as well just release two hit singles and be done with it. Sorry Britney. Bad.
Was so so close to a 5 for this one, but a couple of weak songs and pretty bad mixing kept it a 4. So many anthems, imo their most cohesive record. These guys took the 4 power chords blueprint and ran with it to make such catchy pop /punk rock. Holiday is still one of my favourite songs to play on guitar, as well as one of the first. Good stuff.
Great flow and attitude on the mic. Interesting to hear how this represents the transition from 80s to 90s hip hop/rap. But my god some of the bars stink. Terribly dated. Some good tracks interspersed with nonsense, too long.
Now that's what I call PROG. Insanely cool basslines that you get a full feel for and a lot of effort clearly goes into each song. Everytime it was just instrumental I was dialed in, but I can't get past the over the top melodrama vocals. They're bad. Would never play this in front of a girl lest she thought of me as severely uncool.
This was good, but didn't get me grooving like a lot of others 50s stuff. Recognising sampled bits was cool
Interesting guitar work but this is pseudo-intellectual nonsense. Elephant pants gap yah final boss. Pants
The highest praise I can give this is that it really didn't feel like a 25-song, 90-minute drag. The four sides being so different kept this fresh and the record was so versatile and elegantly arranged. The mixing was superb but this was a 2015 remaster, not the original. Could have definitely skipped 1-2 songs per side and tightened it a lot.
