This is great end to end, every track is essential, each so melodic and innovative enough to be interesting. I need to listen to this way more often. Great production and sound quality as well.
I'm surprised at how much I liked this and realize that I need to listen to The Doors more often. Sure enough there are some deep tracks on the 2nd half that I'm totally unfamiliar with and almost all are a pleasant surprise. And of course there are a few completely essential tracks on here. Very good audio quality.
I'm fucking pissed that I took this album for granted when it came out and that I haven't had this in rotation more for the past 30 years. I'm also pissed that there's no talent anywhere near to this anymore. The deep tracks kill - The Day The Niggaz Took Over will play constantly from now on...there's funk flute in Lil' Ghetto Boy. 6 stars.
Outside of the 2 well known singles, haven't really been missing anything else on here. Exceptions being '40' and maaaaybe 2 Hearts.
First album I am unfamiliar with!
Obvs I can't judge this genre but am thankful for being sent this album and feeling blessed to experience it. Am very happy to add this to my rotation, it sounds great and makes me happy.
Once again listening to a v familiar album all the way thru for the first time in a while - every track is a 5 out of 5.
I should like Sonic Youth and this album more than I do, but...I just don't. The heavy distorted guitar and driving drums are pretty great but I'm not compelled to seek this out.
Shoutout to the saxophone on Fireplace
There are some Bauhaus songs that I absolutely love but many on here are for a very specific mood. The production quality is not great on the version I listened to.
Liked this way better on a 2nd listen - I knew none of these tracks other than Once in a Lifetime, they're all pretty spectacular.
This didn't live up to how I had it built up in my mind - I'm sure it's great but there's a number of tracks that I don't connect with.
Totally unexpected sounds on this album - I thought the Freddy's Dead cover was totally bonkers on first listen but I've fallen in love with it. Lot of tonal & musical variety on this. Need to listen to this a lot more.
No surprise but pretty great all the way through - another one I need to listen to more.
Beautiful album, definite Wes Anderson aesthetic, needs the right mood.
Even though nothing here really catches my ear, it's an enjoyable listen throughout
Nary a weak track on this LP - there's a few I was not at all familiar with and those are all a good as if not better than the greatest hits.
This is an interesting one to be introduced to - I certainly know her name but have never really dialed in on her work. The Coen bros movie collaborations make sense. This is certainly a beautiful album and one that I'll listen to when in the mood - the production and sound quality is great. Her middle name is Howard.
All timer maybe the Sone's best - Can't You Hear Me Knocking & Dead Flowers on the same LP is god tier. 12 stars out of 5.
I know this is absolutely essential to the oeuvre of Dylan and the genre of folk...not so much to my taste tho. There are some unfamiliar deep tracks here that are beautiful, intriguing, and touching and then some that are forgettable.
Never heard of this band or album, so let's check it out...
WTF, where has this been?!? Instrumentation is awesome, production quality v good, there are some great tracks (I'm only half way thru). Definitely want to listen to more.
Big band sound's not my cup of tea, and this Complete version is a little too complete, but there are some tracks I love (Diminuendo in Blue)! Great recording, sound quality is tops.
Not a miss on this album. Most of the tracks are known hits...I'm in Touch with Your World is brand new to me but a great, complex trip of a track.
Only way this wouldn't be 5 stars is if I had to rank it alongside other Dan albums. Shoutout to Midnite Cruiser
Hard Day is a banger and a great showcase for the hi-fi system's bass dynamics. Actually, a lot of tracks here are. Also, there appears not to be a bad track on this - so far they're all musically engaging. Also, also, George Michael apparently is a very good singer.
Beautiful singer and lovely album. I've never heard of her but I am glad to have discovered her. Sad to hear that she has already passed, she seemed like a real one.
Sure, I'll listen to this if I have to...better than expected, more jazz oriented, will listen more f'sure.
There's a lot of action here - 14 tracks in 39 minutes! Not sure I was familiar with any of these but there are some great tracks here - sound is what I'd expect based on what I've listened to from them. Lot of driving distorted guitar, but also some dreamy, melodic rock (Havalina).
Stone cold classic sure. The hits are familiar 60s R&B but I'm surprised by the number of acoustic guitar-forward tracks on here - that's a sound I didn't expect but certainly dig.
Another one I can't believe I hadn't discovered sooner. Great all the way through. Great production and sound. Will def be in my rotation.
The well known hits hold up very well, I was surprised by how good the deep tracks are.
Starting to really love this upon multiple listens - way for accessible than I expected and some great tracks I can't wait to revisit (who are you, jesus gonna be here).
Definitely need to add this to the rotation and listen more, great album
I wanted to hate on this as over rated but failed - too many good tracks even tho it's too long. Some ridic bullshit (revolution no9) for sure, but also some hidden greats - see Yer Blues.
Halfway in, really digging this...great bass on take your time...symphony space is just atmosphere.
Not a lot of memorable tracks outside of Family Affair (except for Spaced Cowboy - I can see that one getting in my head), but they're all solid funk tracks.
