Yo that shit was cheeks….
Jk - appreciate the obvious influence on grunge music.. most of it lacked musicality for my taste but not all of it! Raw and high energy
Miss the old Kanye.
Pretty legendary debut album. Only have a surface level knowledge of Kanye but the lyricism here is some of his best imo. Beats are inventive and well-engineered. That said, nothing had me hitting the download button, but really good album.
Will probably give it another listen soon
A Steely Dan album is like a box of chocolates. I’d heard this album talked about plenty but never listened front to back. Walter Becker and Donald Fagen are clearly virtuosos musically - always some intricate progressions and arrangements. The first 3 tracks had me ready to give this one 5 stars, but I found things getting less interesting by the middle. Glad I discovered that banger “Night by Night” though! 🔥 Any Major Dude rocks as well, and of course Ricky is a certified classic
Not a huge fan of U2. Nothing inherently wrong with this album, just didn’t stand out for me with anything besides the couple of hits.
Banger album. In my opinion even the lows are high, and the highs more than make up for them. I’ll give it 5 stars
“The queerest of the queer” yeah that’s you lol 😂
This band really lived up to their name with this one… nah not terrible haha but nothing memorable for me here personally. Thinking closer to 1.5
Always interesting to check out the hidden albums of one-hit-wonders.
I could drink to this! Maybe didn’t earn any downloads from me - but a fun listen overall.
Gotta love early 2000s rap at least a little. Lots of impressive features on this album. Well produced. Lyrics are pretty corny but it gets points for the laughs lol. Can’t say I considered many tracks bangers.
Reading poetry over music doesn’t really do it for me, But there were a couple tunes I kind of enjoyed.
Props to a Canadian Legend though - I’ll try this again in another 30 years - maybe then I’ll get it.
Some great songs here! Classics and stuff i hadn’t heard. Even the ‘skips’ have something kind of genius about them honestly. Guy’s a legend
Pretenders are very hit or miss for me. Just about all misses here unfortunately
Expected very little from this when I heard the first French lyrics.. actually ended up quite liking almost every song - with the only complaint that I didn’t understand most of it. Then wouldn’t you know it, the second half is the English versions. This album kinda rules
Can’t say I really enjoyed any of this. I can appreciate metal as much as the next guy, but to me this was just loud and heavy for the sake of being loud and heavy
A couple of these were definitely “filler”. But those three big hits more than pull their weight.
There’s everything before Jimi, and there’s everything after. A handful of songs here that don’t make me run them on repeat, but I agree that everyone should listen to this at least once in their life
Wish I was more into jazz, but I don’t think I’m smart enough.. Was fine in the background while I worked, but not my thing. Points for musicianship though
Wow, where have these guys been hiding? Great album. I don’t remember how it felt to hear those classic 70s albums for the first time, but it must feel close to this. I especially liked the guitar work.
Songs are ambitious and interesting, but I can’t say I plan to listen again.
Did not like it. Just about everything was either annoying, boring, or straight up bad
Much more accessible than the John Coltrane album we ranked. I actually enjoyed the jazz instrumentals over the samba rhythms, and found it easier to follow than just about any jazz album I’ve heard.
Never really liked Radiohead. This kind of solidified that lol
I could dig this as a movie score, but as a stand-alone album I didn’t really connect with it.
Starting to lose it with this book lol. Remind me why everyone “must” hear this before they die?
Great voice and very well-written songs
Couple tunes were a vibe - instrumentally really good but not something I’d come back to
Almost didn’t believe this one was from the 60s. Guy was ahead of his time, and clearly had a big influence. Majority of the album didn’t hit me real hard but still solid
Always been a Clapton fan. Twelve-bar blues format often gets tiring for me quickly, but these blues songs keep it fresh and he offers lots of tunes outside of that format.
Always been kind of fascinated with the Dylan obsession. The voice and songs are kind of annoying to me.
Love the 90s beats. The same phrasing structure gets a bit old is all
I can appreciate the innovation at the time. Nothing really connecting with me though
Didn’t really enjoy any of this. Pretty much found everything, even the one big hit, kind of annoying.
Can’t deny that it fires me up lol. And gotta love Tom Morello’s guitar. Pretty groundbreaking
Trippy. Clapton is great, I usually feel like I need to be on psychedelics to fully appreciate a Cream album though.
This one surprised me. Heavy Celtic vibes which I’m a sucker for. Vocals and instrumentals are great
Classic album - too much filler I think unfortunately
I’m sure this was groundbreaking in 1957 - but it really doesn’t connect with me at all
Didn’t expect this much funk! A few good tunes here
Love the simplicity of 90s rap beats, much more than I love the simplicity of 90s rap flow
Very little musicality. Not for me
Didn’t hate it, also didn’t like it
Not many tracks that held my interest for long
Some good songwriting, but a lot of it is overly complex and hard to connect with. Got bored quickly. Vocals are another low point, but instrumentation is pretty good
Good album. Too much filler to consider a great album, but a couple of all-time classics that almost make up for it.
Everything comes together nicely. Love these hits, and I could see myself coming back to it again and giving it a higher rating in the future
Probably not coming back to this guy
Guitar playing is good. Just didn’t care for the songs - most of them anyway
Feels like a compilation of songs all by different artists, rather than a cohesive album
Seen this album cover a lot. Not sure why, nothing that groundbreaking to my ears. Okay vibe for my drive home though
Was really hoping there would be something else here almost as good as Time of the Season. There wasn’t, but that’s a high bar
Only one song saved from me, but solid 90s rap
Might come back to this one
Didn’t expect to have this guy back so soon lol
Gonna have to give this one the home run. Not an artist I would often put on, but too many timeless classics here to dismiss
Bangers originals and funky covers
Good vibe while I worked, nothing that had me hitting save though
I do love a solid instrumental album, still not a jazz fan though
Great voice, just not my favourite era of rock or pop
Great musicians. Still not a jazz fan
The king keeping his perfect record
Hard to keep me hooked on full albums of 12-bar blues
