The music is solid though somewhat repetitive, and the album is overstretched. They have much better works.

Were I born in US in 50s, I'd probably react differently, but today for me it's a complete miss. Dated poorly and has little to no relevance outside of its homebase. Right after this album ended, Spotify switched me to Joni Mitchell's Blue, issued on the same year, part of the same 1001 list, and boy that work is soooo much better! This album was quite good but nothing special really, so I read the reviews and someone from the band's fans suggested to listen to their other album instead, Zen Arcade. And boy that's a completely different - and much better (to my taste) beast. So I'm putting 4 not really for this particular album but for the brand itself.

This is exactly why I like this list. I’d never heard of this group before, and their sound is not ordinary. While I didn't care for every track and won't be putting them on repeat, it was a great discovery. Interestingly, I caught a lot of familiar elements - hard to say who influenced whom - and overall, it was a pleasant listening experience. A strong four stars.
