1001 Albums Summary

5 stars, no notes. I know I’m prone to hyperbole but this album is perfect and completely whole, in both thesis and praxis. Supercut might be the greatest song ever written.

that’s too many songs to be fair i’ve always sort of actively disliked the book of love so this didn’t bode well for me

now THIS is an album i can get behind

foxtel guide ass music as much as i do occasionally love this genre (lofi, d&b) and find it useful for flights and rainy days, my immediate gut reaction was that nothing from it could ever be deserving of any accolades, so might need to examine that but i probably won't to be fair! the only reason i tuned in today is cause i knew i could get through it in a work day (easy listening!)

of course i love it! sits at a very solid 3 for me, but southern man alone adds a whole star. because it's a great song, but also because without it we'd never get sweet home alabama.

if you see me giving a 60s/70s english rock album below 3 stars, that's not me occassionally blindingly gorgeous - the organs in i got the blues, moonlight mile's strings, the entirety of wild horses

i don't know how to talk intelligently about music, i love this so much - probably my favourite kanye album as a whole piece, even though the liked songs ratio is lower than others. he was so HUNGRY and CONFIDENT - it's INTOXICATING to listen to more skits in albums!

i like a lot of these but don't love them (besides we're going to be friends, my beloved) kind of crazy strong opening and closing tracks, so maybe that's all that matters

have always felt like, on paper, i should love TVU, but i so rarely find myself returning to them. this has not changed my stance - i would give 2.5 if i could. that being said, i want lou reed (and many of his following imitators) to **** **** ****** ** ** and ********** ******** my *****.

need to try this in a car driving along the coast to optimise the experience i heard a lot of other songs in this album which, when i googled them, some came before and some after. so maybe this is more just like a capsule of the time period and genre. it's a good one, i'll give it that. i liked the aliens A LOT. i need to really figure out what stars mean to me since this site won't let me give my favourite 2.5, but CTA 102 alone did save this one.

sorry. literally was surprised when i realised it was over because it had become such background noise to me. did make me think about country sort of being one of the peak story-telling genres though

just so, so incredibly interesting i grew up with this album so hard not to be overly fond born under punches through to houses in motion is a near perfect run

added a couple of tracks to my rotation 👍🏻

yep, fab, perfect had listened to Part I a lot while reading THE LONG GOODBYE, so (though a bit anachronistic) was really taken back to my good friend marlowe and los angeles....sigh....

taj mahal was a huge standout for more excellent 70s brazilian music, listen to the I'M STILL HERE (2024) soundtrack
