Lou Reed · 1 likes
4/5
Lou Reed's most popular album. Has two hit songs on it. It was a pretty decent album, but I don't rate it that highly.
Soft Cell · 1 likes
4/5
Plane listen. Has a hit song everyone knows and a bunch of different sounds that mesh well together. I enjoyed.
Gary Numan · 1 likes
2/5
Ah yes, this has that one song I've heard a lot but keep forgetting the name (and the artist). It was alright for a synth pop album but not high for me compared to the other albums.
Sparks · 1 likes
2/5
Weird because I was looking at this album a day before it was randomized to me. I was looking at the Edgar Wright documentary on this band and this is the album with their biggest hit. From the listen, did not fall in love with this band and found it a bit of a bore compared to the other albums in the book. There were a few highlights in there.
The Rolling Stones · 1 likes
1/5
This was not good. Pretty poor debut album of the Stones playing American blues covers. Didn't sound good at all. Its only here because its the Rolling Stones' debut. It took some years for the Stones to make really great music.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
4/5
Very thankful this introduced me to CSNY and all of their work. Only listened to CSN stuff in the past and this is usually considered the best album from all of their work. Each of the four members contribute in their own way even if it worked for only one album.
Young > Stills > Nash > Crosby
Tracy Chapman
3/5
A legendary debut album that showcases the mysterious rise of Tracy Chapman and her affect on African American singer-songwriting and music in the late 1980s. Who doesn't love Fast Car?
Electric Light Orchestra
2/5
I don't like ELO. It sounds good but it's just a futuristic copy of the Beatles and sounds like Queen and many other 70s groups. Mr. Blue Sky is the worst hit song ever from a rock band like this. A necessary evil to influence better acts.
Franz Ferdinand
2/5
A very okay album. Nothing that special since their just the UK Strokes. Take Me Out became a huge hit for the 2000s indie rock era for some reason. The Strokes are better then this copy band and FF have not improved upon this record.
John Coltrane
4/5
A Jazz album that is a mini symphony that tells a personal story of John Coltrane. Jazz albums don't only need to be a highlight of an artists work and that is why this is received as one of the greatest jazz albums. Great solos toward the end by the band. Best to listen in one sitting since its a short and sweet four songs.
Eminem
3/5
Eminem's second album is pretty solid and sets the tone for his early 2000s work. Changed to 3 stars which makes more sense, but it was nonetheless influential.
Stephen Stills
3/5
Surprised I got this a few days after Deja Vu. Not as good as that but this utilizes many big name guest appearances including Hendrix, Clapton, and Ringo. Brilliantly produced, sounds great and seems to be a very underrated album both then and now.
Tito Puente
3/5
An album only known for being in the book, its quite a random listen. It's a pretty clean mambo album that is rated low solely for its little known significance.
U2
3/5
Not much of a big U2 fan but this is a good introduction to their work and not all of their later crap. Disgruntled Irish people hating the British is fire.
Black Sabbath
5/5
Very clean, its a classic and the father of metal music. Crazy how they peaked with their first two albums all in the same year after existing for only two.
Can
5/5
So many haters dislike this masterpiece? Very influential that not many know about. I like jam music so this is clearly up my alley.
UB40
3/5
Listened to the wrong UB40 album at first before listening to this one. Very solid lyrically and is some crisp reggae. Interesting transitions from lyrical tracks to instrumentals/jams. Another artist that musically peaked during their first album. Not many people like UB40 I guess but their early albums are very clean. Literall 12 minute track hating on Thatcher
Blondie
4/5
Oh yeah, very good. Love Blondie and this is the only inclusion on the list. All of their early work is easily listenable. Essential album for New Wave listeners. Heart of Glass and Sunday Girl 💯 💯
Red Hot Chili Peppers
4/5
The first of the great RHCP albums. It was pretty long but still a blast to listen to. Many references to other musicians throughout.
The Zombies
3/5
It was just alright. A well crafted 60s album with a huge hit and a cult following. However, it wasn't that much for me.
Sparks
2/5
Weird because I was looking at this album a day before it was randomized to me. I was looking at the Edgar Wright documentary on this band and this is the album with their biggest hit. From the listen, did not fall in love with this band and found it a bit of a bore compared to the other albums in the book. There were a few highlights in there.
Santana
4/5
One of Santana's best. Oye Como Va is my favorite song from him.
Buffalo Springfield
3/5
Already my 3rd album with Stephen Stills and 3rd as a different act. 2nd album with Neil Young. Probably the best Buffalo Springfield album with some great songs and vocal performances by Stills and Young.
Megadeth
2/5
I have never been a big thrash metal fan and while I know this is one of the best thrash metal albums, it ranks lower than many other albums I've listened and will listen on this list.
The Velvet Underground
4/5
This is the first band that I've listnened to one of their albums all the way through before starting this and as I do love the Velvet Underground, it was plesant to listen to these songs as I've only heard a few on this LP. Very decent album, not as good as TVU & Nico and Loaded but I'd say #3 is a good spot for a great band.
Dr. Octagon
3/5
Not familiar with Kool Keith's work, but this is one of the projects he worked on and its a pretty good album that includes his custom persona as a concept kind of rap album. Its pretty underrated and pretty much a cult favorite. Some weird lyrics in here but I thought it was funny and decent.
Iggy Pop
3/5
Very experimental for his debut album. Inspirational and mainly was due to David Bowie's masterful songwriting and production on it. Really stands out at the time but Pop's second album has more of the hits.
John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
3/5
Decent 60s blues album. Its Eric Clapton so it even makes it better!! I enjoyed the What I Say cover with the Ray cameo at the end.
The Doors
4/5
Have never listened to the album in full, but have listened to some of the songs many times in the past. Peace Frog is probably my favorite Doors song and one of my favorite songs from the period in general. The transition into Blue Sunday always is beautiful. As someone who performed Doors songs in the past, I've grown a liking to them despite not listening to them that much. Land Ho is one of those funny songs that I was recommended years ago and would have been fun to play that but never did.
Louis Prima
4/5
Somehow, this is the first album I've gotten that I've already listened to all of. I am a pretty big Louis Prima fan thanks to Martin Scorsese movies and the Mafia 2 video game. I listen to Louis a few times a year when I'm in the mood. This is pretty much a compilation album that doesn't include my favorite song of his "When you're smiling." Its also one of the oldest albums in the book.
Fred Neil
3/5
A decent 1960s folk album that is pretty underrated and given a boost by inclusion in the book. Known for the original version of Everybody's Talkin, it includes some beautiful tracks in it.
Elton John
5/5
Elton's best work. Many people agree with this as its got a wide range of stuff from hits to more niche songs. Its a double album and sure is long, but nonetheless enjoyable for one of music's greatest icons. Enjoyed the first time listen of the album.
Beatles
5/5
Listened to this a bunch over the years (as with every beatles album) and of course this is one of the greatest albums ever made. I suppose this is the first album I've gotten that I've listened to a bunch and know all the songs by heart. All in all, its great. Never had a problem with Good Day Sunshine or any other song on the album. It's very well put together and Tomorrow Never Knows is still insane for its time.
Black Sabbath
4/5
Yeah, it gave me the fourth album after I listened to the first three the day before. RIP Ozzy the legend, the prince of darkness, and the best rockstar to be on reality tv. Clearly, the generator knew I already listened to the other two (I got Paranoid a few weeks ago) and gave me this one to listen today. I really liked this album since it wasn't all heavy metal, although I can't quite tell what it has influenced.
Femi Kuti
3/5
Pretty decent Afrobeat album, not his most famous album though so I am curious about its inclusion in here.
Dire Straits
3/5
A good album to throw at zombies. Thought they were really cool sounding like Dylan.
Marty Robbins
4/5
I have like 2,000 hours on Fallout New Vegas and I listened to this album a month ago. 5 stars or the game was rigged from the start. I love when I mod the game and add all the songs from this album to the radio.
Public Enemy
4/5
One of the best 1990s rap albums, impactful for what was to come the rest of the decade. Quite the global album in its themes. Its most popular song is included as the closing track even as it was released a year before.
The Black Keys
3/5
It was alright. A band whose music I've heard over the years which mostly includes the hit Howlin for You, a song that is probably on most 2010s indie playlists. Haven't got that many 21st Century albums yet on here but this is just alright.
Ice Cube
4/5
It's kind of hard to rate these 90s rap albums because alot of them follow the same formats, themes, etc. Ice Cube is just a terrific rapper in this album and that eclipses him over some of the other rap album's I got.
The Who
3/5
Nice little experimental concept album. Had no idea that they made this (like I even listen to Who albums). Easiest showcase of corporatism in music.
Cream
3/5
A pretty decent 60s psychadelic album. Obviously has the hit song everyone knows and a few other good tracks. Pretty crazy album cover too.
Nine Inch Nails
2/5
Mixed emotions musically, great lyrically. Not sure if this is my kind of music. I like Trent Reznor's voice, though.
Iggy Pop
4/5
An improvement of the debut album, although its much more Iggy "Pop" than his other works. It has his hits on it and works as a pretty good mainstream follow up. Bowie can produce and create any work to be great.
Joe Ely
2/5
A simple country album from an artist I've never heard of. Apparently, he sang the Spanish lyrics on Should I Stay or Should I Go. Lucky for him to get an album included in this book. It seems he's made other more popular works than this. It was pretty short and alright I suppose.
Curtis Mayfield
4/5
One of the 70s soundtracks that were miles better then the movies they were for. I really enjoyed listening to this one.
5/5
Always one of my favorites. Didn't listen to it the day it was generated since I am disappointed that its given me Revolver and this before #50. Listened to it plenty of times over the years and is an easy 5 star album.
4/5
Blur were still trying to find their sound in their second album. Still before the main Britpop era, it included many different sounds from Madchester to Beatles-esque 60s. Lyrics were a huge improvement from their debut album which I thought were pretty basic. Overall, a joy to listen to and some hidden gems in this one.
Gary Numan
2/5
Ah yes, this has that one song I've heard a lot but keep forgetting the name (and the artist). It was alright for a synth pop album but not high for me compared to the other albums.
Joan Armatrading
3/5
This was a perfectly okay 70s album from another artist I don't think I've heard of before. None of the songs were familiar but it was very 70s studio. "Armstrading" sounds a lot like Christine McVie also, and I guess Tracy Chapman is the American version of "Armstrading."
Mike Oldfield
4/5
I really enjoyed this little album. Not really familiar with Oldfield but this was really good for an amateur up and commer who recorded it all himself Will watch the Exorcist soon since it uses part of the album.
Elbow
4/5
Deleted my review but I really enjoyed this when I first listened. Quite a surprise and I really like one of the songs in here.
Metallica
4/5
The essential black album. Always a go to when getting into metal and is pretty decent considering I've only heard a few of the songs before.
The Monkees
1/5
This is the first album I've gotten that I didn't really care for. The Monkees were a pretty overrated commercialized American Beatles knockoff and this album wasn't anything special.
Radiohead
4/5
The hipster Radiohead album. Great to listen when you're high. Hard to rank because its just a part 2 of Kid A, but I'd defend this album more than most. I don't really dislike any of the songs also. I also rate this too high because of personal bias.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Kind of a shame the best songs in the album are in the beginning and the second half is whatever. Still some good songs there, but doesn't beat the first four tracks. Probably the 2nd best Stones album.
Joni Mitchell
4/5
Pretty solid album by Joni. great production and musically very strong. The last song on the album is a cover of something I haven't heard in some years.
Suicide
2/5
The pioneer synth pop album was pretty alright. Didn't seem mildly impressive though the songs were pretty crazy.
Guns N' Roses
4/5
Crazy how many metal hits are on one album. An essential must listen for mainstream heavy metal.
Bill Evans Trio
3/5
Warning: Glass knock over jump scare! Quite an immersive live album that feels like you'd listen to it at a fine dining restaurant.
The Notorious B.I.G.
5/5
Top 5 rap album of all time, its pretty long but it was great to finally hear the hit songs as an album and as a whole. It's very explicit though!
Jane's Addiction
2/5
Pretty mid, wasn't anything special. The memes about this band having the fight on stage were legendary, only special thing about them?
Paul Revere & The Raiders
2/5
Didn't write anything down for this but its just pretty mid 60s stuff. I recognized one of the songs.
Simon & Garfunkel
3/5
It's a fine Simon & Garfunkel album. Not one of my favorites, its pretty short, has two of their hits.
The Black Crowes
3/5
Decent album, good debut. Maybe they should be in the RnR HOF.
Tom Waits
4/5
Listened to this on a long drive. Really fun live album. Might get into more Tom Waits now, he had so much fun doing this.
Kraftwerk
4/5
A pioneer album for much of the 80s sound. The Man Manchine is an enjoyable experience for those who enjoy electronic and synth pop music and want to know where its origins lie.
The Charlatans
3/5
Good britpop album, started liking this band recently. Not 100% sure why this was included in the book and I'm sure its not going to be to everyone's liking. It's what the Stone Roses could have been if they kept making music.
Nick Drake
4/5
An insanely strong debut by Nick Drake. He hones the sounds of nature and tranquility through the use of various strings, wind instruments, and percussion to create beautiful 60's folk music. Wish I listened to it in a different setting.
The Rolling Stones
1/5
This was not good. Pretty poor debut album of the Stones playing American blues covers. Didn't sound good at all. Its only here because its the Rolling Stones' debut. It took some years for the Stones to make really great music.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
The generator gave me 2 Stones albums in b2b days. This one is clearly much better than the debut album. This album was the start of the peak era for the band and the records that were coming out. A well-defined blues rock sound completes the album.
Björk
5/5
Bork's masterpiece. This became my favorite of her albums from awhile ago and is probably one of the best albums from the 21st Century. Homogenic belongs in the book!!!
Small Faces
2/5
Interesting little concept album from a band I never heard of. Very English with the radio bits. I wouldn't consider it very memorable though, especially compared to something like the Who Sell Out which is pretty similar.
Ray Charles
3/5
Pretty good from Ray, not as great as his other work. I enjoyed this.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
4/5
One of the best from Costello. Great blend of genres, interesting lyrics and fun songs. Some hits, plenty of reissues that makes it difficult to see what the original album was. There even is a Spanish version of the album released a few years ago! While I have listened to some Elvis Costello over the last few years, not sure if I am a big fan.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
4/5
I really enjoy this kind of 2000s music. Heard some of these songs before over the year. Really enjoyed this album and the use of instrumentals. Essential Indie music.
Prince
4/5
Prince's first masterpiece. Greatly expanded the length of his previous LP's and included the hit 1999!! Most of the songs are only good when listening to the whole album as a whole. Quite an inspirational album for the 80s and a preview for what was to come. I enjoyed it even if it can be difficult to listen to the first time.
Jeff Buckley
5/5
Depression album starter pack, an essential.
Cyndi Lauper
4/5
Yay Feminism! Last two songs were weird. Essential 80s stuff.
Mariah Carey
2/5
Not really my kind of music. It was alright. Interesting production. This is probably her second best album.
Amy Winehouse
5/5
Quite possibly a near perfect album. Plenty of hits that defined Amy Winehouse as a huge star for the short time that she was. Great vocals, instrumentation, production, just one of the best from the decade.
David Bowie
4/5
He was so good he released two great albums in a single year. While this one is usually considered the less acclaimed one, it still produced one of his most famous hits in Heroes. While I have listened to Bowie's Berlin period of music, I have not heard this album, and I enjoyed the ambient tracks at the end. He simply made all kinds of great music in the span of a decade.
The Electric Prunes
2/5
Another 60s group I don't know. Short album, some good tracks. Not very memorable. Why is a band like this still existing after all these years?
Harry Nilsson
4/5
A legendary album. Some of these songs have been favorites for years, not 100% sure if I listened to the whole album before but I may have. A top tier album in my opinion and I love the cover with Nilsson's outfit.
Ramones
4/5
A pioneer punk rock album. Very defied the sound. I enjoyed even if all the songs sounded the similar.
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Bruce's breakout album and one of his best works. Never had been a big Springsteen fan and don't rate is as high as others would place it. It's a perfectly fine and enjoyable record with some of hits and good production for the mid 70s.
Wu-Tang Clan
5/5
Best rap album ever (as said by mostly white people). Heard this shit so many times, so its always great to relisten to a masterpiece. Method Man da goat.
Patti Smith
4/5
This is
Patti Smith's
Horses
A very good album
And I really like
Horses
They gallop around and around
It's time I sling the baskets
off this overburdened horse
Sink my toes into the ground
and set a different course
Cause if I were here
and you were there
I'd meet you in between
And not until my dying day,
confess what I have seen
Manic Street Preachers
3/5
I like Britpop and many of the 90s UK bands and while I have never listened to Manic Street Preachers, I of course enjoy this kind of music. The beginning of the album was pretty good but it started to drag on till the end and I got bored from much of the same sound it was pushing. Moved from 4 stars to 3 stars.
The Who
4/5
I guess I have to rate this a four stars, it's the Who and it has some of their hits. I probably wouldn't say its their best album (probably most popular), but its still pretty top tier and very enjoyable. This was definitely when the band was peaking and its still confusing why the band has continued to exist after Keith Moon's death.
Talking Heads
3/5
Difficult to rate this one as its not a Talking Heads album I've listened to really at all. Take Me to the River, I've heard a bunch of times, but not much from the other stuff. Definitely an improved sound and better production than the debut album even if that one has Love Comes to Town, which I very much love. This album definitely got a nice mood to it (should listen high), but I think they've made better. I will have to give this three stars on a first listen, but could sway to four.
Sex Pistols
4/5
The only Sex Pistols album, its an essential work for punk rock. It has some hits, it sounds great, it's overall very good.
Def Leppard
3/5
Enjoyable 80s hard rock. Pour Some Sugar on Me always a classic and fun song. Wouldn't really say this something that great or special compared to many of the other albums. It was also pretty long of a record with some okay tracks in it.
Killing Joke
2/5
An alright debut album from an industrial rock/metal band that I have little knowledge on. I thought it was pretty boring and went by quick. Some decent tracks, still not my favorite kind of music.
Pulp
5/5
This is already my most listened to album of the year and Its a clear 5 stars for me. Simply one of the best albums of the 1990s and all time. Took me a few years to really get into Pulp and now they're one of my favorites. This is album is simply a masterpiece and is the best Britpop album. It sweeps anything Oasis or Blur has made in my opinion. Jarvis Cocker is such a great lyricist and singer. The production is just fucking great and this album has been something of a addiction for me. You thought Common People was great? You also got Disco 2000, Sorted for E's and Wizz, Mishapes, Bar Italia, Underwear, Something Changed, and Live Bed Show. Just crazily goated.
Lou Reed
4/5
Lou Reed's most popular album. Has two hit songs on it. It was a pretty decent album, but I don't rate it that highly.
Milton Nascimento
4/5
I enjoy these international albums from artists I don't know. Pretty long album, in Portuguese. Definitely sounded great as a 70s album from Brazil and I think it deserves a high rating. Plenty of different moods present in this album too.
Janelle Monáe
4/5
Probably the second craziest album I've gotten from the generator. Have little to no knowledge on this kind of music and was quite enthralled early on with this concept album. So much going on but by the end it was dragging on. Hard to rate this, but because it was pretty unique compared to the rest, I'll give it a four. Would be great to listen to baked also.
DJ Shadow
3/5
Very nice DJ rap album with some great remixes. Felt it dragged a bit.
Gene Clark
2/5
An alright singer/songwritter album. Didn't think it was that special or great in any way. Had two covers in it, sounded good, probably won't relisten.
Klaxons
3/5
This was fine, some good tracks. This kind of 2000s music goes hard but I kind of forgot what I heard a few hours ago from it hehe.
Queen
2/5
As its Queen II, I'll give it 2 stars. Never have been a big Queen fan and this was whatever. It has the Bohemian Rhaposdy video as the album cover but that song is on a later album. Only recognize one song on here too.
The Zutons
2/5
Didn't listen to this in time and mixed it up with another album from a few days ago because the band names sounded similar. Why you giving me two similar sounding bands within a few days of each other? I even ended up listening to the album a second time without realizing I just listened to it. I did not think this was that special, so there you go. Making up the 2000s album quota.
Sugar
3/5
I really liked some of the tracks on this one. Other tracks were just mid. Not a really great album but I enjoyed it. Sounded like an American Stone Roses with the production, idk.
Deep Purple
3/5
A nice album with some big hits. Its pretty short and good enough for some hard rock but I aint that all impressed.
Little Richard
4/5
Haven't heard this album in full, but have heard most of these tracks before. I've always enjoyed this kind of music and I rate it highly.
Terence Trent D'Arby
3/5
Afrobeat funk and soul album that is a solid debut from an artist I am not familiar with. Some good tracks on this, but not quite special. Also someone I just found out shares a birthday with me.
Lynyrd Skynyrd
4/5
One of the best southern rock albums, truly some great hits on this one and mainstreamed the genre. After not liking this band for some time, I came to grow a liking to some of their stuff and southern rock as a whole.
The War On Drugs
4/5
Finally growing in to liking the War on Drugs. Listened to their stuff over the years on the Indie stations and forgot that there was an album from them in the book. Red Eyes is already a song that I listen to regularly and is in my playlist and this record was a very nice listen. I'd give this a high rating solely for my enjoyment on the genre, but I think there are some really good instrumentals and productions that make this a great 2010s Indie album.
Neil Young
4/5
Finally got my first Neil Young solo album. CSNY was my first album I got generated and soon had Buffalo Springfield with NY. Listened to his first two solo albums before this one as I haven't really listened to much NY yet. This is pretty good with some recognizable tracks. There are still better albums from NY (he has too many) but I'd rate it highly.
Caetano Veloso
2/5
This was very mid. Last Brazilian album I got was actually good. If the music doesn't move me, the lyrics won't because I don't know Portuguese. Apparently, Caetano does not like this album and I agree that it isn't that great.
Funkadelic
4/5
First time listening to Funkadelic. Have listened to Parliament. Some recognizeable songs on this too. This is very good and influential in it itself. Should be sure to relisten to this one.
Dr. Dre
4/5
An essential West Coast Hip Hop album. Its got the Doctor and the Dogg what else do you need? Great use of samples. Crazy this was only 1992. Its also crazy I got this a day after I got Funkadelic since this is very Funkadelicish.
Jurassic 5
3/5
This rap album was fine. Decent production and great rhythms, would relisten again.
Big Star
3/5
What in the world is this? I could see why there could be a big cult following for this band, but I didn't feel it. Some weird covers, some other tracks that are okay on its own.
5/5
One of the best albums ever. Simply a masterpiece and songs you can always easily listen to. Simply Bowie's best by default, but it is definitely arguable that this isn't his #1. I once played Five Years in a band and had a great time with that even if its a simple song. I also played Star on the guitar too. Lady Stardust a personal favorite. Such a great record!
Guided By Voices
2/5
A 60s psychadelic sounding album with hints of grunge and hard rock. 28 songs in less than 50 minutes is quite a lot of scrobbles! A very weird concept that I have never heard of before. It was a whatever listening experience. Some good tracks over others but they were all short songs.
The Kinks
4/5
Fucking ass Spotify got three different versions of this album and all of them are deluxe. If it only wasn't convinient to listen to stuff with. The year seems to be off on Spotify too. Also, this album is much shorter than I thought because of all the additional tracks the Kinks made at this time. Anyways, this is a very good 1960s album, a concept album of sorts and I really enjoyed it. The generator has a lot of mid 60s stuff so I am glad I am getting something that's great that also isn't the Beatles, Stones, or Who.
Norah Jones
3/5
Funny because I somehow had no idea who this was. A fine jazz pop album with some notable covers in it.
Michael Kiwanuka
4/5
Enjoyed a pretty modern album for once. Good indie sounding work, enjoyed the lyrics. Nice introduction to this person.
Miriam Makeba
2/5
Fucking Javier Bardem cracking up on this one
Love
4/5
Da Tago Mago more like. This shit fucking slapped, especially that 18 minute track at the end. Every track was clean and beautifully produced for 1966. Pretty underrated record right here.
Van Halen
4/5
Van Halen's best. Great 80s hard rock, big hits, very enjoyable. Surprised I haven't really ever listened to any Van Halen.
Prince
5/5
Prince's masterpiece, simple as that. Thankful to listen to this for the first time. I can see how this is very much a bridgeway from 80s-90s R&B + Pop.
Kings of Leon
2/5
Didn't know this band is as big as it is. This was not that great in my opinion. I only enjoyed some of the instrumentals on some of the tracks.
Badly Drawn Boy
3/5
Very eclectic kind of English indie. Felt it dragged a bit in length and the number of songs, some good transitions out of short tracks.
The xx
2/5
Some generic crap. Why is your most popular song on Spotify the Intro song? Heard this sound with better bands.
The Rolling Stones
5/5
What a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz!!
Creedence Clearwater Revival
5/5
Back to back days with bangers. Never listened to a CCR album all the way through before. Gotta love the hits I already know and the other good songs I've never heard.
Jethro Tull
3/5
This didn't move me much. Probably need a relisten again at some point. More interested in hearing Thick as a Brick.
Pantera
3/5
Ehhhhhhh, this is just more thrash metal that is not my cup of tea. Nonetheless, I understand this is a highly regarded metal album and has some hits in it.
Burning Spear
3/5
Jamaica Strong!!! A coincidence I got an album by a Jamaican artist during Hurricane Melissa? It was a short album and pretty enjoyful reggae. Probably some good lyrics here but I didn't pay much attention and isn't special outside of that.
Air
3/5
Soundtrack album to a movie I have not seen, but plan to one of these years. Very trippy and would have been a great listen baked. Last song on the album kinda spoils the plot?
Green Day
4/5
One of the most popular albums ever; never gotten around to listening it until now. Its pretty good even if I feel it was a bit long.
Dagmar Krause
2/5
"Oh, you think you know music? Well, I bet you never heard of Tank Battles by Dagmar Krause. You can't call yourself a music connoisseur without knowing this one."
Miles Davis
4/5
"Hey fam its Miles Davis from Jazz. I need $2,000 so I can make Bitches Brew 2. Can you give me your credit card information? Anyways, I have Wayne Shorter with me. Say hi shorty"
Air
3/5
Thought the generator could get away with giving me a 2nd Air album after only 4 days? Think again. This is definitely better than the Virgin Suicides soundtrack.
Duran Duran
3/5
Only Duran Duran album in the book. Might have given it 4 stars if I liked the non hits that I haven't heard before. I guess Duran Duran is not a great album artist, but rather someone whose greatest hits would be the best way to listen.
Queen Latifah
2/5
Didn't feel this was anything special.
Bad Brains
2/5
Thought this was going to be rap but was a metal, 80s hard rock record with some punk. Pretty mid, streaming lists the album as coming out in 2019.
Janis Joplin
3/5
Pretty good, some of the songs could have been stretched out in length as this is a pretty short album.
Ray Price
2/5
Standard 1960s country album that isn't something special. I liked the introduction part, though. A good listen on a Saturday.
Fleetwood Mac
4/5
Have only heard a few songs on this one. Did not have any opinions on this going into listening and I enjoy the experimental nature of it. I expect to grow a greater liking to this with additional listenings.
Alice In Chains
3/5
Popular grunge band that I have not listened to, really. Recognized some of the songs, but as I am not a huge grunge fan, I'll only give this three stars since it has some of the band's best work.
Sheryl Crow
2/5
While Sheryl has made some decent and catchy pop hits, I don't find her wider music particularly great. This is still a very decent debut album, but I am not the biggest fan of these tracks or her voice.
Ravi Shankar
3/5
Listened to this one on a long car ride, very busy day and this one kind of went by. It is essentially an introduction of Indian music to Western audiences and it is enjoying to listen to Ravi play his sitar.
Kanye West
3/5
I stopped listening to this blud for the last year and more. Haven't heard his debut I suppose and I can't rate this one that highly right now. 3 or 4 stars.
Bob Marley & The Wailers
5/5
F'ing masterpiece. Who doesn't love this one? Some of the best music ever.
Michael Jackson
4/5
Great blend of disco and 70s funk. One of Michael Jackson's best and essential records. I may have listened to the whole thing before but at least I have heard the hits many, many times.
Deee-Lite
2/5
One hit wonder group with the 90's dance pop sound. I like this kind of music but these kind of albums aren't that special.
R.E.M.
5/5
If R.E.M. had a 5 star album, it would be this one. There are two songs on here I haven't listened to before, the rest I have had. I have heard the hit ones many times. Such a great album!
R.E.M.
4/5
This fucking generator can read my god damn mind. Yesterday, it gives me Automatic For the People and when I am rating the album I am thinking about how Green, my favorite R.E.M. album, is also in the book and others like Out of Time are not. When I finish voting for the album, leave it to my surprise that the generator gave me Green, my second R.E.M. album in a row. What are the odds that something like this happens? Anyways, Green is a 4 star album and Stand is my most listened to song of all time. I really love this one.
Emmylou Harris
3/5
I have heard some of these songs before I believe. Not a huge fan of this kind of country and was not in the right setting to listen to this, but I understand its importance.
Beyoncé
3/5
A highly rated and regarded Beyoncé album. I don't listen to this much pop from the big names of recently. While I admire the production, the guest artists, the audio samples, and Beyoncé's vocals, I'll need to listen to it much more in order to admire it more.
Sly & The Family Stone
4/5
Should have had "Crackers" in the title of the 2nd track.
Animal Collective
5/5
Masterpiece. Thankful this was included in the book, as this was some of the stuff I listened to as a young child.
Radiohead
5/5
Radiodread is actually better
Neil Young
4/5
A fair Neil Young album. Folksy, short, some blues too.
Bauhaus
2/5
Whatever, I can see how this band influenced many future artists, but this is not my style.
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Relatable and understandable lyrics, the kind of music I like from Springsteen.
Afrika Bambaataa
3/5
A fun album to listen to with recognizable beats. Not sure why the average rating is so low on this one.
ZZ Top
4/5
ZZ Top's best, another southern rock staple that gets 4 stars for me. La grange and JJLC are always fun!
Raekwon
3/5
Wu Tang Forever, but this one is very similar to all other Wu Tang stuff, especially Enter the Wu Tang. Has a bunch of clan guest appearances and I can see why these solo albums aren't all that special. I still enjoyed it though.
Gene Clark
3/5
Better than the other Gene Clark album on here. Why are there even two? I really enjoyed the production on some of these songs. Sounded very good when I was working.
Run-D.M.C.
4/5
An album with only bangers, seamless transitions between tracks, its just fun. Definitely deserves a good average rating since its pretty easy to like this.
Ride
4/5
Didn't expect this one to be pretty good. Not that familiar with this genre of music and I loved the sound. Will explore more and listen to this one again as this is a pinnacle of British shoegaze.
Depeche Mode
5/5
Definitely on my top 5 albums of the 1990s. This is an album I'll listen to a few times a year. While the last two tracks may seem to drag, I still find the whole thing a blast.
Songhoy Blues
3/5
I may have heard something from this group before but not positive. Interesting background for the band and I was just looking at Mali on Google Maps, which is funny.
Coldplay
2/5
Nice try.
B.B. King
3/5
Screamed my lungs out and fainted. Wow!
Muddy Waters
4/5
A very influential blues live album from the legend himself. While I wasn't fw the part 2 of GMMW, I thought everything else was pretty good. Remastered version added a bunch of random tracks at the end so there was that too.
Curtis Mayfield
3/5
A standard Curtis Mayfield album that sounds like all of his other work from the time.
Steve Earle
1/5
Mid ass country that I ain't fucking with. Give me a better album book.
The Shamen
2/5
A standard EDM album from the 90s that went a little long. Pretty random for the list and there is another album in the book from a very similar group.
Fela Kuti
4/5
Such a tasty-looking zombie, yum.
Kendrick Lamar
3/5
Flipping burgers song spotted.
Soft Cell
4/5
Plane listen. Has a hit song everyone knows and a bunch of different sounds that mesh well together. I enjoyed.
Ice T
2/5
A pretty standard 90s rap album from everyone's favorite NYPD detective. Really the kind of album that makes you want to have relationships with women and sex with men.
The Allman Brothers Band
5/5
Love me some ABB and their all-time masterpiece in AFE. Definitely the best live album of all time, this is some elite jamming.
Marvin Gaye
4/5
An essential breakup/divorce album. I love the cover and the fact that Marvin Gaye tried to make something bad because of the alimony royalties and ended up making something pretty good. First of his albums that I have listened to all the way through also.
Ms. Dynamite
2/5
Another plane ride, another rap album. This one is nothing special and is just 2000s British rap, a genre I have not really listened to before, but I am familiar with its popularity over there. Listened on low volume for most of it.
Simple Minds
3/5
"I think it was probably around 82, 83 was it? 81, 82, 83. No, 82, 83 I'd say, 84. Around that."
Elton John
3/5
This Elton John album is pretty fine; it has a hit song as the opener and a bunch of other decent tracks. Album cover is not that great.
Destiny's Child
3/5
Not my favorite, but I enjoyed some of the tracks. Not even sure how you would rate the DC3 albums.
Everything But The Girl
4/5
Merry Christmas! Heard that one Christmas song many times before but did not expect to hear it on here. Not really familiar with this group but I really enjoyed this album. Similar UK sound to the Beautiful South whom I love.
Herbie Hancock
5/5
Heard Chameleon many times but did not know the name of the song until now. A very classy and inspirational jazz masterpiece that is quite clean.
Peter Gabriel
3/5
Love me some Peter Gabriel and #3 is quite a nice album. Have heard Game of Frontiers a few times and enjoyed listening to this one on a night walk.
Gang Starr
2/5
A simple rap album with some interesting samples woven in. Didn't feel very special.
Various Artists
4/5
Listened to this on 12/23 and around twice the year before including a radio broadcast segment about this album. Some great Christmas and movie hits are in this one but the damn last track is just weird. Shut up Phil
Adele
4/5
The two 2010s albums from Adele are very good. Plenty of hit tracks and is certainly a well crafted record that's also very, very popular.
The Smiths
5/5
Simply a masterpiece, one of most listened to albums ever, I am glad this is included in the book even as it may seem unnecessary to have three Smiths albums in it. This has become my second favorite of the four studio albums and Girlfriend in a Coma is simply a beautifully crafted song.
Carpenters
2/5
Its the Carpenters. I don't really think they're an album group. This one did have two of their hit songs on it and some covers. It was just a decent listen but nothing I'd hear again.
Eagles
4/5
Forgot to edit the review but this is quite good and has some big hits. Probably not my favorite Eagles album though.
Common
3/5
A level 6 2000s rap common rarity build of an album
Morrissey
3/5
I have listened to the two hits on this one many times, the rest of the album I listened to most of it one other time. Its a fairly fine album but it is Morrissey. Why does he have so many albums in these books?
Grateful Dead
4/5
Welcome 2026! Like the Grateful Dead so what a nice surprise to have it as my first of the year. While this is the most normie of the Dead studio albums, this is still pretty decent with plenty of the more well-known songs.
Talking Heads
5/5
Facts are useful in emergencies
Charles Mingus
3/5
This is a fine jazz album, but I felt it was pretty short and could have had more to it.
Dr. John
3/5
Dr. John's debut album is a pretty decent listen. Not too long and has some interesting sounds with the trademark New Orleans voodoo and medicine show sound. He has made better records so I would say 3 stars.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
3/5
Was never a big fan of Tom Petty's music. This signature album is not that long, clocking at under 31 minutes. It has two big hit songs that make this one up. While it sounds fine, I don't see how its that great or special.
Waylon Jennings
2/5
A fine sounding country album for the early 1970s, but man does Waylon Jennings have many albums. This one isn't even over 30 minutes long.
My Bloody Valentine
3/5
Shame this isn't on streaming. Will need to listen to again.
The Police
4/5
Funny enough I heard the king of Pain on the radio before listening to the album later in the day. Its the Police and so it tends to be quite good and even has probably the most popular song of the 20th century on it.
Neil Young
4/5
Listened to this some time ago and thoroughly enjoyed. While I wouldn't say its his best, there are some great and popular tracks on here.
Sister Sledge
3/5
A decent 70s sound, production, songwriting, and singing. A fine album with some big hits from the time. Not the biggest fan of the whole thing, though, with some okay tracks in it. 200th album generated.
Malcolm McLaren
4/5
One of the funnest albums this generator has given. I really enjoyed it and was surprised about the mesh of different sounds. McLaren is like an 80s Fatboy Slim and would definitely listen to this again.
The White Stripes
4/5
First time listening to a White Stripes album and was not sure how I would really rate the whole thing with it having one of the most popular songs ever on it. While it could be a 5 from me, I'm only gonna give it a 4 for now.
Q-Tip
2/5
This is quite a well made late 2000s rap album from an artist who doesn't seem to be relevant anymore. It has a bunch of guest appearances and is overall well made. However, I don't think there is a standout song on here and I probably wouldn't listen to again.
Stan Getz
5/5
An essential jazz and bossa nova masterpiece. A delightful listen for the first time but many have probably heard the opening track on its own before.
Talvin Singh
2/5
It seems everyone got an album from a random nobody today from what I've seen. Apparently, this guy worked on Bjork's Debut. It was a nice listen and a 11 minute opening track was interesting.
Beatles
4/5
The third Beatles album is a major improvement over the first two. While I consider Help! and most of the albums that come after as better than this one, it still is a very important and significant album for the Beatles' career. Its back when an album was just a collection of songs rather than its own constructed thing. This one is a great example of what albums used to be.
Ramblin' Jack Elliott
1/5
A hard to find late 50s folk album from some guy who pretended to be from a folk background. Said to be a Dylan inspiration, you can definitely hear the similarities to both. Not really sure why this would be included in the book but I don't think it really sounds good at all.
Suede
3/5
Good britpop and glam rock. Would have listened to this one earlier but only got around to it with this. Very dreamy and beautiful sounds, great 90s era British vocals. Not gonna give it a four though because all of these bands sound the same.
Sarah Vaughan
4/5
A lovely 50s live jazz album by a lesser known by prominent jazz singer. Listened to the longer version of the album, which makes the whole thing more complete rather than a few selected tracks. I enjoy these live selections.
Korn
3/5
Just another metal album with some big guest appearances. Some fun songs but am not the biggest fan here. Guess there are some metal hits in here too but I am not familiar with Korn at all.
The Psychedelic Furs
2/5
Some of these lyrics are pure brainrot. The music is pretty solid and coherent, though.
Goldfrapp
3/5
Interesting group and a decent sounding album. I enjoyed the production and might listen to similar music from the era in the future.
Fleetwood Mac
5/5
5 stars to the most normie goat album of all time.
Kraftwerk
3/5
This generator is stalking me as I got this one as I was traveling to Europe for the first time and after listening on a plane is a fair three stars.
4/5
What a beautiful little album late in XTC's run of making great-sounding records. Definitely not that popular but should be listened to more. Opening track with the long delay was weird though.
ABBA
4/5
This album appeared after my arrival to Europe for the first time. As a big ABBA listener, I have this a many of times but three of the albums they made after this one are better.
Dwight Yoakam
2/5
I bet this made a lot of people wanna say buenas noches to this album and pass out in a lonely room from boredom.
Bob Dylan
4/5
Good stuff. Predicted I would get a Dylan album for today and I did.
John Lennon
3/5
Not as great as I would think. Some good songs I have heard before and decent production. Good thing there's no Yoko singing.
Ella Fitzgerald
3/5
So long they gonna make someone do a Ella Fitzgerald Songbook of all the songbook albums she made and its gonna be 48 hours long.
Circle Jerks
1/5
Not surprised that I would get a 15 minute album generated a day after getting an over 3 hour album. This is just some short brainrot punk rock with a funny name.
The Youngbloods
3/5
Nice ambient 60s listen of one of those psychadelic american bands that nobody cares about anymore. Liked the Francis Drake track
Radiohead
5/5
The Super Mario N64 version clears.
The Afghan Whigs
2/5
This was very bland. Band has a cool weird name I guess. Very questionable album cover too.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
The album that has Paint it Black, but only in the US version. Also has Under My Thumb and Lady Jane. Other songs in it were quite fine. While I prefer 69-75 Stones, this is still quite good.
Isaac Hayes
3/5
A well made soundtrack album, liked the 19 minute track. Good theme song, jazz and funk fusion, and the Chef's voice every so often.
Beatles
3/5
Not a great album but it is the Beatles. Listened to this many, many times over the years as with all of their other work. Never a fan of most of the cover songs they did early on. Still have some good songs nonetheless. Overall, a mixed bag.
Fleet Foxes
4/5
A lovely debut album with a great medieval art cover. WWH has always been a favorite and I've only heard a few other songs from this album in the past. It definitely deserved the hype when it came out but sadly this band peaked here.
Billy Bragg
3/5
I enjoyed the beginning of this album but got a bit bored by the end. Surprised this was a 2000s album felt very late 80s-90s British indie/britpop. Nice social themes that are especially relevant today.
Otis Redding
4/5
Considered Otis Redding's masterpiece, its a wonderful album of popular original songs and well done covers of popular songs from the period.
Bob Dylan
4/5
Dylan's last 20th century album, a soft and quiet blues rock and folk that is definitely mellow. I enjoyed it and definitely enjoyed the longer tracks on here.
Kanye West
4/5
I mean, its a great album and I've heard it a few times over the last few years, but you know.
Johnny Cash
5/5
What a masterpiece of a live album. Iconic album cover of Cash and was nice to hear more songs other than the title track. Noticeable covers too. Liked the live banter.
Lauryn Hill
5/5
An album about love that I assume everyone gets on Valentine's Day. Frequently high on many greatest album lists, it is a very well produced and lyrically themed album even as it felt some of mid to late tracks lagged on.
The Damned
3/5
Listened to this one at a royal palace. Decent punk with some good sound but nothing that special.
John Lee Hooker
3/5
Thought I would like this more. This helped revitilize Hooker's career w/ all the guest artists on it. It was just okay blues stuff but not as good as his older work.
Metallica
4/5
Very likeable metal and iconic tracks. Ending felt a bit dragging, though.
Pink Floyd
5/5
Masterpiece, obviously. Have only parts of this album in the past and probably some live versions of the songs. Really good and iconic cover.
Pixies
4/5
Heard this once before all the way through. A great debut and some songs I love. As a lot of albums do, the ending drags a little bit so I wouldn't give it 5.
Bob Dylan
5/5
One of his best. Great hits, fun lyrics, fun time.
Beastie Boys
5/5
Loved to hear this one. Such a goated group and some absolute bangers on it. 5/5
Paul Weller
2/5
Eh, this was a weird one that clearly had the washed artist trying to make music in the 90s sound. A lot of albums have this sound but this one tries to blend in a bunch of 70s stuff in it. The instrumental tracks are a nice touch though but this ain't anything special.
R.E.M.
4/5
Listened to this once all the way through last year and a couple of the songs a bunch of times. It's really a two hit album with a bunch of other good politically lyrical tracks on the first side. As good as REM is this probably their 5th best album.
Led Zeppelin
5/5
Fantastico! Simply a masterpiece of course and one of the best albums ever. Just banger after banger and was glad to listen to it again.
ABBA
5/5
Here we go, one of my favorites and most listened to albums of the last year. This is simply ABBA's best and the stuff on this album (and on the deluxe) are very good. If the group didn't make anything else after this it would still be a fitting conclusion to their run. While some of the lyrics are cringy, the sound is still very well produced and is the main reason why I like this album so much.
Morrissey
3/5
Oh boy, the Reform UK national anthem. A nice comeback album but it is still Morrissey. Probably should not be in the book but I won't complain for this one. Liked a couple of songs on here for awhile and this was the first time listening to the whole thing.
CHIC
2/5
I like the name of the album, the disco sound, and the popular first track. It wasn’t that great though.
Aretha Franklin
4/5
A fine album from the Queen. It starts off with one of her biggest songs and the rest are some decent covers. Songwritter credit on a single track.
Aerosmith
2/5
Lol what the heck was this mid? Never a big Aerosmith fan for many reasons but why would this album be on here? They've made better stuff but I guess this was influential for hard rock.
Eels
3/5
This album felt like it was ahead of its time. Could have fooled me for a 2000s album, I was not familar with the group until this listen and enjoyed mostly, but there were some questionable parts throughout.
A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
A banger of a debut album, I enjoyed listening to these rhymes on a walk. Can I Kick It? Will forever be a classic and the use of samples was classy. Fun lyrics too and I love Q-Tip.
Hole
4/5
A highly regarded album with Courtney Love vocals. I enjoyed it for the most part even if it killed Cobain. If there was one rock album with a female vocalist to define the decade it would be this one.
Meat Puppets
2/5
Eh whatever. It was nice to hear the original Lake of Fire if I hadn't already heard it before. Weird listen and lyrics.
Sonic Youth
4/5
Have heard Teen Age Riot a few times but not very familiar with this band. The late 80s period of alternative rock made some pretty underrated music looking back and this overall a very well made record. I like that the songs are long and experimental.
Elvis Costello
3/5
Seems I heard half of the songs on this album and did not listen to the first half and stop before. Had another album from his early on from the generator and I enjoyed overall. Liked the hit songs but it went by very quickly.
Wilco
3/5
A fine Wilco album but not my favorite. It was pretty decent and I liked the acoustics. Some good sounding tracks but a bit long.
Primal Scream
3/5
This was a very relaxing listen with a wide range of sounds and samples. Some more britpopy tunes and others experimental. Listened out in the sun and had a great time.
MGMT
3/5
A strange album that isn't really great. It has three great songs that I have heard many times over the years and the rest are kinda eh. The 2nd half is pretty mediocre and the lyrics aren't great. Listening to MGMT is for the beats and mood.
Radiohead
5/5
This album is such a mood and a beautiful listen. An important album that brought music to the 21st Century and deserving of the title as Radiohead's best if you aren't putting OK Computer above.
Nightmares On Wax
2/5
Random inclusion from a group nobody has heard of. Alright instrumental listen but is not anything special compared to most of the albums from the generator.
The White Stripes
3/5
Like this one more than Elephant, but is it really great? Good to hear My Doorbell again and I like the more experimental style that made it a bit more interesting to listen.
David Bowie
4/5
Pretty good album here. Have not heard it before and know it doesn't have a huge Bowie hit on here. Have liked songs like Cracked Actor and Panic in Detroit for some time. I really enjoyed Lady Grinning Soul for the first time and would say its a good mid to high ranked Bowie album.
Hugh Masekela
3/5
Some nice easy listening Afro Jazz. Listened to it mainly while walking at night and it set the mood just right. Always love these little obscure album inclusions.
Carole King
4/5
A great album for my birthday. Good selection and nice to hear it for the first time. Already enjoyed a few songs on here in the past and it really sounds quite good. I lean more toward 4 stars over 5.
Deep Purple
2/5
Didn't enjoy this one really. First song was a Little Richard medley and the rest was just fine. Cool album cover, though.
Spiritualized
3/5
A fine easy listening album that I enjoyed walking at night to. Couldn't hear parts of the album too well but it was overall fine.
Michael Jackson
5/5
I was mad I didn't get this on Halloween and that was when I listened to it last. Instead, I get it in mid March, ok then. Of course its a masterpiece and the most popular album of all time and deserves the praise.
The Libertines
3/5
Some fun UK stuff. Liked some of the songs and would probably listen to more of. Surprised this was a bit more popular than I would have thought from a group and album.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
Didn't enjoy as much as the other CCR album I heard from the generator. It has like three hits, which there are two I have heard many times and the rest not so much.
Gillian Welch
2/5
A fine alt country/bluegrass early 2000s album with decent lyrics. Nonetheless, it didn't move me that much compared to the many other genres the generator gives you. The 14 minute extended bluegrass song at the end was also cool to listen to.
Joy Division
4/5
An innovative debut that's acclaim is more so through its groundbreaking sound than being a great listen on its own. I didn't enjoy it as much as I would. Disorder is a noticeable hit from the group that I have heard many times, but I felt I expected more from it. Maybe this is because LWTUAA was only a single. Anyways, this album inspired 1980s British music and for the better deserves its acclaim.
Bob Marley & The Wailers
4/5
What a mood. The transition from side one to side two was perfect. The Wailers knew how to cook with poignant lyrics and beautiful sounds.
Bee Gees
2/5
Can't believe they made me listen to a early Bee Gees album. Thought I would never see the day. I can see how they were inspired by literally everyone from their contemporaries to the past. I've heard of some alright music from other groups that sounds just like this. Do I really care for this album? Not really, but at times it was plesant.
Nas
5/5
Simply one of the best rap has to offer in the 90s. So many hits on one record that its crazy I've heard most of the songs on here separately. The album clocks in at a perfect length of under 40 minutes that makes it feel like it isn't dragging on with a lot of filler tracks. Album cover is iconic too, 5 stars.
Tangerine Dream
3/5
Quite strange to hear this kind of ambient music in the 1970s. Feels way ahead of its time unless this is a kind of music you enjoy. Could have came out in the 90s and it still would've felt new.
Nina Simone
3/5
A fine album and a nice listen at night. There are many Nina Simone albums to choose from for the book and this one seemed to get a lot of acclaim. Nonetheless, certain songs felt a little dragging and could have finished stronger.
Jane's Addiction
3/5
Another Jane's Addiction album from the generator. I suppose this one is much better than the other one and I thought it was just fine, especially for late 80s music.
The Cult
2/5
Fun to listen to a Cult album for the first time but I wasn't that moved. Makes sense why I only like their one hit but think the rest of their music is just okay.
Miles Davis
4/5
Definitely very cool, especially when listening at night on the streets. Hits different.
Count Basie & His Orchestra
3/5
I don't know why I got back to back jazz albums. This one sounded very similar to the Miles Davis one I had and both came out around the same time. This is not as good as that one but isn't really bad in any way.
Anthrax
3/5
This is fine metal. I have heard much worse and much better. Definitely right in the middle for a group I have never given a thought to.
GZA
4/5
Love this album. Have heard it a few times I suppose but never in depthly. So many bangers that I forget are on here. Probably the 2nd best album from a Wu Tang member.
Nirvana
5/5
The goat of concert/live albums, this is truly special and is led by its strong and popular on its own covers.
The Cure
5/5
A late 80s masterpiece. Finally glad that I got around to listening to this finally, even if it felt long to listen to in a single sitting and I had to listen in chunks. I just love how long these songs are stretched out and how beautiful it all is. Pictures of You is one of the most beautiful songs ever written also.
Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
3/5
Nice to listen to a salsa album. RIP Willie Colón, but guy's brain was eaten out by some worms the last decade with those tweets. This is really all Ruben Blades' work and its crazy how this guy was also on the Walking Dead.
The Police
4/5
Police Rock Reggae pretty fire. Some ecclectic side tracks on this one too along with the hits.
Super Furry Animals
4/5
Very cool listen with nice sounds and some catchy songs. Nice introduction to the music. Singer sounds a lot like Jarvis Cocker from Pulp.
Ozomatli
2/5
Weird mix of genres. Somewhat interesting but not that impressed from a group I never heard of.
Christina Aguilera
1/5
First album I really, really did not want to listen to and could barely get to finish it. It being 70 minutes also is another reason to stay away.
The Temptations
4/5
I had a fun time listening to this one, a bit of a surprise. Good production and much better than the day before's.
David Bowie
4/5
Great to finally listen to this one. First side has all of the hits you've heard before and the second side has some underrated gems. He just keeps getting better and better from here.
Elastica
2/5
This didn't feel that special. Its 90s girl punk rock in an era where it was more of a revival than something very new. It was overall fine, but not my favorite.
Isaac Hayes
3/5
Another Isaac Hayes album from here. Liked the stretched out songs and is pretty good for late 60s.
Jamiroquai
4/5
Wow, what a nice little treat to listen to this one while relaxing. Not familiar with the group at all but they did a pretty good job on this one and would listen to more.
Ananda Shankar
2/5
Fine sitar rock album from a Shankar. Only liked the light my fire cover and the rest were just okay. There's better.
Teenage Fanclub
3/5
It was fine, had some good pop songs but didn't feel very memorable. This was also overhyped when it came out.
Pixies
3/5
I listened to this once before and would not consider it one of my favorites from their classic era.
Johnny Cash
5/5
Fuck it, this shit is 5 stars. Idc if its got a bunch of covers and all, its got iconic shit all a year before he died. He went out and chose violence before his death that has only really been seen with Bowie's Blackstar since then. These are definitely good cover choices too before dying and its got Fiona Apple.
R.E.M.
4/5
A fantastic debut for a band that changed music. Have listented to this many times before with Sitting Still always being one of my favorites from them. However, I never felt the sound was that polished so I give it closer to a 4 than a 5.
The Stooges
3/5
This is a good early punk rock album. Having listened to Iggy (happy 79th birthday!) solo albums before I still prefered those better. There was also a Bowie and Iggy version to choose from and I chosed Bowie. There was a good enough variety in the songs but I was not the biggest fan.
Steely Dan
4/5
Always has been a hit an miss album with me because of the amount of times I've listened to this. While I have gotten used to the filler stuff on here, I still don't think they're great. There's still many hits on here that are great but I agree with people who put this lower on their Steely Dan album lists.
Paul Simon
2/5
Ehhhh, idk why this is on here but it sounds like Graceland but it aint. 1980s mediocre from Paul Simon and I would rather listen to other stuff. It's alright but not 3 stars alright.
Mylo
3/5
Not familiar with this DJ at all but it seems this is the only album they made. I thought it was some pretty good house music and made a nice listen. Some good experiments and mixes too.
Amy Winehouse
4/5
A very strong debut album and a nice listen. Already off the bat there's strong lyricism, fluid production, and a pleasing mix of sounds. Not really any huge hits compared to her later work but is still fine on its own.
Morrissey
3/5
I read a review saying this was Morrissey's best solo album and I might have to agree with that. Steve Lillywhite made this and Under the Table and Dreaming in 1994 so I can see why this album is pretty solid. There's one hit track that I've heard before. Still, its Morrissey solo and its not that great at all.
The Flying Burrito Brothers
2/5
So I am glad that I listened to the right album because I got confused there for a bit. Still didn't think it was all that great lol.
Bob Dylan
5/5
Such a great-sounding album for 1965. It's why it is one of the best ever. The long final track was a bit interesting but also a bit too much when trying to finish it.
4/5
Pretty nice and diverse set of sounds. Always liked that album cover looks like it inspired the Breaking Bad color scheme.
2/5
Good god, nice try Fred Durst.
The Stone Roses
5/5
Generated a few days before its 37th anniversary, this is up there for all time albums with me and one of my most listened to ever. Been really loving this one for years and its my favorite album cover ever also.
Dolly Parton
2/5
Yeah, whatever. I guess it sounds fine but it isn't much and am glad it wasn't that long. Don't think it should be in here though.
Goldfrapp
4/5
An artist I'd definitely return to listen to. This was quite nice and sounded very good as someone not familar with folk electronic music.
Venom
3/5
This was quite nice. Enjoy some short 80s metal. One of the songs had that tits out football chant in it too.
Arcade Fire
3/5
I know this was highly acclaimed at the time and even if I like this band somewhat it didn't move me that much. Its an interesting concept album about suburban decline and the inevitable of the future but I didn't enjoy many of the tracks in the middle. Nonetheless, the title track is always a great listen.
X-Ray Spex
3/5
A decent 70s all female punk album. Obviously, the sax is what stands out the most here and it is nice to branch out to some lesser known punk acts. Nothing higher than a 3 stars for me though.
D'Angelo
3/5
RIP D'Angelo. I guess I am a bit surprised the generator didn't give me any of his albums after his death in October. Listened to it now though. Pretty good 90s R&B soul but Voodoo is usually considered the better record. Still a very strong debut.
Underworld
3/5
This was an alright electronic/house album from a DJ I have no knowledge of. Apparently has some hits though but not on here. It's a simple 3 stars for me.
Stevie Wonder
4/5
Classic 70s Stevie Wonder, his second best album. Plenty of hits and a fun listen with thematical lyrics and a blend of genres.
Leonard Cohen
4/5
Final album generated during my time living in Europe. Fitting somewhat since this is Leonard Cohen's last album before he died. It is quite emotional and produced fine enough for an aging artist in the 2010s. Still, not as powerful as Blackstar but still a nice quick listen.
2/5
Not that much in the mood for another punk rock album a few days after I had another one generated. These aren't that special but shoutout Ray Manzarak producing this.
David Bowie
5/5
They sat down and told me this was the best Bowie album. Yeah, probably it is and it finally took for now to listen to the whole thing. Heck, maybe I did listen to it before but I just don't remember but its quite the experience for a first listen. It was mainstream of obscurity and pretty influential. One popular hit track too. Lovely Berlin Trilogy.
Pink Floyd
5/5
Fucking generator paused it despite visiting the site daily just because I had a backlog. Now, I have lost two days in completing this thing because of it. I am not happy. Anyways, this is a banger obviously and shoutout West Valley City Utah '98
Earth, Wind & Fire
2/5
Nothing special at all and not something I would really listen to again. It was just alright 70s soul.
King Crimson
4/5
Hmm, if its peak King Crimson then its probably gonna sound like some fucking clean prog. I enjoyed it despite not being someone who would listen to prog a lot. Gets high marks from me.
The Associates
2/5
Did some reading into this band and many similar bands like this and how they were very underground and lesser known today because that era was just weak for UK music. Overall, not the biggest fan, it was long but there were some good tracks. Not an essential listen at all.
Elliott Smith
3/5
Never got around to listening to any Elliott Smith over the years as far as I know. This is pretty good indie music and well made but I'd need another listen to rate it highly.
Jeff Beck
4/5
Lots of star power on this one. Endless names and of course, cheaters' justice!
Pretenders
3/5
It got better later into the listen as there were tracks I've heard a few times before. While this got pretty good reviews and is a strong debut, I wouldn't rate it higher than a 3, lucky to not be a 2.
Brian Eno
5/5
Very impressive work of samples here. Interesting to see the history behind the copyright for all of the samples and how it was all a mess. Debated on how influential it really was, its still very innovative and quite a fun listen. Impressive considering it started work in the late 70s.
Soundgarden
4/5
Peak and essential grunge. I prefer Soundgarden to some of the other grunge bands and I quite enjoyed this. Dragged a bit at the end but wasn't shocked there.
Queen
4/5
Probably the only Queen album I like??? Not sure but I think its a fine enough listen and made very well considering its a concept album/rock opera. Also has the most popular rock song of all time on it, so.
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
1/5
Man, what the heck was this garbage? Some of it sounded okay but the vocals were all over the place. Felt like a mix of different genres and sounds too. Very unnecessary listen.
The Cars
4/5
I was surprised I enjoyed this one as much as I did. Never would have said I was a big fan of the Cars even as I liked some of their songs. I thought this whole thing was quite strong and sounded very well for a debut. Was considering giving it a 5 but gonna settle for a 4 for now.
Pentangle
2/5
By Azura, by Azura, by Azura! It's the Grand Champion! I can't believe it's you! Standing here! Next to me!
The Dave Brubeck Quartet
4/5
The album with the legendary Take Five. Very solid 50s jazz album, and I particularly enjoyed the second side.
Thelonious Monk
3/5
Two 50s jazz albums in a row is mad and while I liked this one as a listen, I find many of the other similar albums to be a bit better. Still great for the era though but not my favorite Monk.
The Go-Go's
3/5
Really, the Go-Go's are on here? It's a fine album I guess and it is still well received. Good for the era and for that kind of music.
50 Cent
5/5
Absolute rap banger and a classic. First time I listened to the whole thing too.
Richard Thompson
3/5
A fine folk album by a husband and wife duo. Not great but a nice listen. Good lyrically.
CHIC
4/5
Very well made for a disco album and since I don't rate many disco albums highly and that I enjoyed this, I'd give it a 4.
