Almost screamed when I got this album, I used to listen to it often on the way to my college classes. A timeless album about being black and dealing with hate. However theres a lot about finding self love and love for the culture. An album about being unbreakable, even if you feel broken and always finding a space for yourself.

It's Punk. It's New Wave. It's Gay. It's Straight. It's camp. It's eccentric. energetic. telepathic. It's the B-52's.
The Beach Boys · 1 likes
5/5
A beautifully touching, personal and poetic album. The melodies and orchestration blend beautifully to deliver Brian Wilson's genuis vision. You know you've done good when the Beatles reheated your nachos to create one of their greatest albums to later influence artists to this very day.
God Only Knows where we'd be without this album.

Underrated compared to what was to come for this small indie artist from Indiana

I would say this is easily the second strongest post-Beatles release. (Sorry-- I love All Things Must Pass too much...) Its stacked with great and bouncy tunes.

Emmylou Harris
4/5
I've been desperately looking for a new country/folk artist to dive into and she fit my bill. She has such a lovely voice with beautiful lyrics. A lot of sincerity mixed with story telling for this album. I enjoyed it.
Kanye West
5/5
[FYI if you still want to listen to the album but not support the artist, just find a random YouTube upload of it like I did]
I hesitated to listen to this because the last few years Kanye has fallen off the deep end. I found issues supporting someone who has horrid views that I am so against. However, my curiosity eventually won. After all, I am on this website to discover new music. And if the artist has to be separated from the art, then so be it.
To be clear, I've heard possibly a quarter(ish) of this album before, for several years it had a lot of radio and commercial play. I also, am aware of other Kanye hits that I do enjoy, but I cant say I've listened to any of his work in full. All this to say, I am familiar with his work and have not been disappointed (again, with his WORK. him as a person is another story.)
After listening to this album, I think I understand now. It was enjoyable, it was funny, it was daring. Laced with amazing features that brought the album from a 10 to 11. I get why so many people are hesitant to let Kanye go. He makes good music whether its his own or if its produced for someone else.
Bob Dylan
3/5
I haven't listened to this in easily 12 years. Very nostalgic, wordy yet wise. Melodies are relaxing and remind me of a long road trip down a dirt road singing songs of today, yesterday, and tomorrow.
Tears For Fears
5/5
Coming in I already knew 3 of the tracks which solidified how good this album must be. Big fan of the synths (its the 80s theres an abundance) and saxophone is some tracks. There's a mellow tone to the voices which fits all of the songs in some matter. Listen is an enchanting track, very dream like. Favorites were: Working Hour, Mothers Talk, and Head over heels/Broken.
Adele
5/5
Great album. What more is there to say I'm always sold on powerhouse vocals and strong melodies. It's what she's known best for.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
5/5
AWESOMEEEE loved the vocals
Iron Maiden
2/5
It was alright. Never gave them a listen because im not a fan of 80s hair metal. Though, I must say, the guitars on this is crazy. Not sure if ill listen again but i did like some tracks.
John Lennon
2/5
God free us from the John Lennon d*ck riding.
The Notorious B.I.G.
2/5
Dude .....this was not good. Man's was huffing and puffing over the beats and I damn near thanked God when the hits came on. Saying you'll have sex with Raven Symone when she was like 10 at the time is actually insane by the way. Like I dont care what anyone says that line was nuts fjdhfhjfjf
Sonic Youth
2/5
it was alright got real noisy at some parts
The Cure
5/5
Such a beautiful album, I love how almost every track has such a wonderfully crafted opening. The lyrics read far more like poetry, which fits the over all gothic romantic dream feeling.
Johnny Cash
5/5
I really liked it :] I enjoyed his voice, with and story telling. Seemed like the crowd enjoyed it as well ^_^
Beatles
3/5
It was okay. Not my favorite era of Beatles music but there are a few songs i do genuinely like.
The Human League
2/5
It was alright. I'm not sure how this fit the best album criteria but maybe at the time it was more significant than it is now. Sometimes the synths were fire, other times it felt wonky. Many of the lyrics were just repetitive.
Jeff Buckley
4/5
Sing it white boy!!!!!!
Lynyrd Skynyrd
2/5
Leftfield
2/5
It's alright. Probably won't listen again, not the type of electronic music I enjoy.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
1/5
made it halfway through wasnt for me. sorry I tried 😓😓😓
Queen
3/5
fun I enjoy queen but I didnt feel super passionate about this one. it was enjoyable though
B.B. King
4/5
Type of music that would make vampires want to break into a juke joint
Marianne Faithfull
1/5
noooot sure why this is even on this list. production wise it was good, vocals and delivery wise not the greatest. I only knew her as one of Mick Jaggers girlfriends for the longest time, had no idea she had a musical career...and I guess now I know why no one mentioned her music....
Dire Straits
5/5
enjoyed it!! loved it really
My Bloody Valentine
4/5
the coceteau twins evil brother lol awesome album to chill oir and lay down to
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
5/5
They got together made a folk rock classic....what can I say its peak. Road trip or laying out on a grass field core.
Hugh Masekela
4/5
While I dont mind Jazz, I typically dont listen to it. Nice album, nice change of pace.
Robbie Williams
2/5
cornyyyy as hell very predictable lyrics almost as if a kid wrote them
Living Colour
4/5
A vibrant and energetic album. A mix of early grunge and punk with lyrics still relevant to today. These guys definitely deserve more recognition.
The National
2/5
...it was okay i have no real input. pretty bland but not bad
The Beach Boys
The Allman Brothers Band
4/5
Great live album with high energy. Mainly instrumental though, which i had no issues with because everything was so good
The Fall
2/5
David Bowie
2/5
A bit too all over the place. Somewhat messy and odd audio mixing. Not too bad, but not his best.
Jacques Brel
2/5
Björk
4/5
I was only familiar with bjorks first 3 releases. This album still has her charm and artistry that I enjoy but in a much more dream like state.
Steely Dan
5/5
are you reelin in the beers amirite? Always good to listen to some STEELLAAYYY
The Smashing Pumpkins
4/5
An alt rock classic, grew up listening to a majority of this album. I forgot how long it was lol but still good!
Solange
5/5
Almost screamed when I got this album, I used to listen to it often on the way to my college classes. A timeless album about being black and dealing with hate. However theres a lot about finding self love and love for the culture. An album about being unbreakable, even if you feel broken and always finding a space for yourself.
Frank Black
2/5
It wasnt bad, but a bit all over the place. Sometimes punk, sometimes had a country twang.
Janelle Monáe
5/5
I wish I could inject this album into my blood stream. So much passion, funk, love and soul pumped into every track. She's such a criminally underrated artist.
Belle & Sebastian
3/5
Black Sabbath
3/5
RIP OZZY 🤘Strong lyrics on this one but not as polished as future releases. Bass and drums on this album were out of this world. Though, over all , not totally for me but I appreciated it.
Billie Holiday
4/5
An album filled with yearning and desire. Accepting and rejecting those romantic emotions, the toss and turn of love.
Little Richard
4/5
Crazy high energy and fun. I typically dont listen to music from this era but for him ill make an exception. My one gripe is that the music quality is fuzzy, but theres nothing to be done about that I suppose.
Nirvana
4/5
great live album that shows not just the versatility of the band, but also pays homage to the artists that inspire them. Genuinely a nice selection of songs, playing on the calmer side of the group and well fitting for the intimate stage they had.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
4/5
I instantly became enamored with the arrangements on this album. Everything was so well put together...some songs were bouncy and fun while others were more relaxed. Costello's voice took a second to get used to, I never hated it but I always thought it was kind of...goofy? But I can appreciate Dylan and Bjork so I'm fine with this too. I may have underestimated him as an artist (I only knew a few songs prior), it looks like ill be doing some investigating on his discography!
Michael Jackson
5/5
Classic album I always skip the girl is mine though...I just can never wrap my head around that one. Baby be mine is an underrated gem in my opinion. PYT is one of my fav songs ever. What can I say its peak 🤷🏿♀️
The Clash
4/5
Never been a fan of the sex pistols, and the Ramones are okay, but the Clash is always just right.
The Undertones
3/5
Pop-ish punk for the time had a snappy beat to many songs, but nothing really stuck on me. Not bad though.
Manic Street Preachers
2/5
kind of inoffensive, bland 90s music. nothing particularly stood out to me.
Blondie
5/5
God I could gush for hours Harry's voice but I won't. Just know that I love her in each and every way.
This album is a staple in the New Wave genre, filled with hits and one of the greatest songs ever "Heart of Glass." ❤️ The group bounces from mellow songs like "Sunday Girl" and "Picture This" to more up beat songs like "Will anything Happen" and "One Way or Another"... regardless of any track you choose, this album is totally electrifying and cements Blondie as legends in Rock/New Wave.
The Pretty Things
3/5
I suppose if youre not well versed in 60s psychedelic rock, there would be more to say about this album. But as someone who's heard it already...theres a point where things start to sound repetitive!!
If you've heard Sgt.Pepper, early Pink Floyd, the Who, etc. you'll hear it in this. Nothing "new" in my point of view, which doesnt make it bad. But it doesnt make it stand out unfortunately.
Big Black
2/5
Wow! This album is NOISY!!! but energetic... I can imagine this being more fitting in a cramped concert hall but just listening to it alone is a bit much.
Snoop Dogg
4/5
Some of the lyrics and skits were actually hilarious. A laid back album which is expected from a man like Snoop. A lot of songs to catch a groove too as well, which adds to the fun listening.
Sabu
4/5
🕺💃🏿🕺🕺👯♀️👯♂️🕺🏽💃🏽
(twas a good time)
Pere Ubu
1/5
Horrible, its like if David Byrne and Danny Elfman formed into one man who liked to grab his balls and twist them in the recording studio.
New Order
4/5
I love New Order and this album is no exception. However I'm still a bigger fan of Substance which has a few (better) remixed tracks that came from this album.
The energy on this album seems more tame when I prefer their more dancy tracks.
Charles Mingus
4/5
Pretty Good, jazz isn't usually on my radar but it was enjoyable
Manu Chao
2/5
Willie Nelson
5/5
Lovely and relaxing even if you dont like folk/country I believe you can enjoy this one. Awesome covers, no skips. loved it
Donovan
3/5
Television
4/5
An album ahead of its time.
Portishead
5/5
An album that manages to be haunting, romantic and jazzy at the same time. It's such an interesting and enchanting blend, im in love with the direction of this album.
Willie Nelson
3/5
Frank Sinatra
5/5
So this album was like a pleasant surprise to me. I never listened to Kobim and very little Sinatra. BUT! As of recently, I've been getting into (and loving) Latin bossa nova. This album was a nice blend of bossa nova and jazz. I adored it, I'll be coming back to this one again.
Iron Maiden
2/5
Pink Floyd
5/5
Pink Floyd are the kings of story telling intertwined with lyricism. While I dont find this as ground shaking as the wall or DotM, it still stands in its own way. Solid album.
Elvis Costello
2/5
At some point this album almost started to sound like gibberish to me. His voice and the pacing of the songs all started ro sound too similar, mushing together. I dont hate his music, nor am I fan but this didn't land quite as well as I hoped it would.
Meat Loaf
4/5
Wayyy more theatrical than I expected which was interesting. But it wasnt bad!! I appreciated the artistry of it all. Opened strong and closed strong, which makes it a solid album imo.
Pantera
1/5
Count Basie & His Orchestra
3/5
Keith Jarrett
3/5
This was nice to put on while drawing, very calming. However, i'm not sure if i would return to this album, since i'm not a fan of classical music.
MGMT
4/5
Grew up listening to the hits off this one, but never heard the full thing! Very enjoyable, unique and fun but i wished more of the tracks pushed a little more. Good album though
Billy Joel
4/5
Very solid lyric and delivery wise. Reminds me of music i would hear driving with dad as a kid lol. Started strong and ended strong, I kinda see the appeal now.
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
A pillar in rock and roll that has yet to crumble for me. This album is electrifying from start to finish. To call Hendrix a musical legend might be an understatement!
The Doors
4/5
Dr. Octagon
1/5
This is something a white boy would swear up and down is legendary but once you finally listen to it, it feels like you're under psychological torture. Not my cup of tea, off beat and clunky.
The Strokes
5/5
The Strokes came out swinging on this one. Definitely has some 70s/80s new wave hints dashed on this one which you dont hear much in rock music anymore.
Ride
4/5
Bob Marley & The Wailers
5/5
Loved it, grew up listening to a lot of Bob Marley as a kid so it was super nostalgic for me.
Cocteau Twins
5/5
A lovely album. I love the vocals, production and overall atmosphere they gave off here. HOWEVER, listening to gibberish (yes, gibberish there are no lyrics and what we hear is meant to be interpretated by the listener) can get a bit tiring after a while... Sometimes I think its best to listen to the tracks isolated, but thats just me.
XTC
3/5
The Smiths
5/5
Can't stand Morrisey as a person but god I love the smiths.
Prince
5/5
Easily one of the greatest albums of all time with Prince's genuis behind every single note and lyric. Electrifying, Amazing and so full of talent. A staple in rock music whether people like it or not. AND just as important in 80s music as Thriller is. yes im serious.
Green Day
5/5
Saw them live in concert last year (2024) performing the entirety of this album and american idiot. While initially I liked this album in passing, after seeing it live in full-- I appreciate it way more. A lot of the radio hits I grew up with are on this one so its super nostalgic in a way. Great album.
OutKast
4/5
An album with two completely different artistic directions that only seem to intersect when it came their funk sound. Speakerboxxx was way more cohesive than the love below. The love below was a bit more artistic, poetic even. Between the two, I found Speakerboxxx more enjoyable. But overall, a good album.
Elbow
3/5
Felt just neutral about this one, the music was nice but nothing to personally write home about.
DJ Shadow
3/5
This wasnt what I expected at all. A mix of trip and hip hop, which was a hit on some tracks but a miss on others. It's hard to explain but it became too repetitive at some parts and was hard for me to fully immerse myself in it. I think some tracks are better stand alone than listening to an album in full.
Christina Aguilera
4/5
I've never underestimated Christina's vocals, shes a powerhouse through and through. However, I feel where this album falls weak is in its production. Sometimes the instrumentals were battling with her vocals, creating a very loud track which can be overwhelming to listen to. I found myself enjoying the simpler, slower songs especially when her voice was more toned down.
Common
4/5
I went in blind and by 2 tracks in I was like "kanye???" Very well produced album, I found it to be a bit preachy at times... but didnt ruin the overall album.
Goldfrapp
4/5
Really interesting techno jazz something very unique you dont see often. Kind of similar to Portishead in a way.
Gorillaz
4/5
One thing I admire about the Gorillaz is their dedication to defy the norms in their albums. This album went from trip hop, to punk, to rap,to funk etc theres a lot packed in this album that set the stage for what they would later release.
Green Day
5/5
I wish I could say some of the messages in this album werent relevant for today but unfortunately it is. It stings to listen to lyrics about America buying into fear when it only seems to have intensified over the last 20 years.
Soundgarden
4/5
While listening, it finally clicked that theyre like a grunge led zeppelin. Which is awesome! Solid album with a majority of their radio hits on this one.
Moby
2/5
Some of the most mid music ive ever heard. Half of it sounds like music from a flop 90s action movie, the other half just sounds like the background music for car commercials. Not everyone can do electronic, its not as simple as repeating the same phrase over and over 😭😭😭😭
David Bowie
4/5
I appreciate that it wasnt straight forward and every track wasnt the same. Slowly turning into a instrumental album by the end shocked me but didnt turn me away. Tracks with vocals had a lot of glam rock/new wave flare which is an era i prefer when it comes to Bowie.
Pere Ubu
1/5
Wow! When I received a different album (Dub Housing) by this artist I prayed I would never have to hear another song by them ever again. I removed their name from my mind so when I recieved this album today, there was a haunting familiarity "...Pere Ubu...why does this sound familiar?" Ten seconds in... the horrors claimed me and projected graining, horrific sounds from my car speakers. I am once again praying to never hear more """"music""" from them again. But I fear my prayers may go unheard and I will be cursed to hear them once more. Terrifying.
Motörhead
1/5
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Arcade Fire
4/5
A simply good album. Went quadruple platinum on tumblr back in the day LOL
TV On The Radio
3/5
It was just okay nothing really grabbed me but nothing about it turned me away.
The Band
4/5
The Velvet Underground
3/5
Though I really am a fan of velvet underground this album never grabbed me as much as their other stuff. It seems a bit tame, which isn't bad but it doesnt give that edge that they usually have.
R.E.M.
4/5
This came out during the Punk/New Wave era and you can hear it pretty well on here. To me, they dont have what I would consider their signature sound or voice here. That's not bad, its their first album but to me it plays out a little tame. I did enjoy most of the tracks though.
Talking Heads
4/5
I really like this album though its not my favorite release of theirs. I'm always a fan of their blend of funk and anxieties. Jamming and rambling may be one of my fav genres of music ever.
Grateful Dead
4/5
Pretty good, favorite song mightve been death dont have no mercy. (Also first time listening to Grateful Dead!! Woo-hoo!!)
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
Pretty interesting blend of country, folk, and a dash of motown. I see the vision
Led Zeppelin
5/5
Maybe I'm biased but I dont care. I LOVE Led Zeppelin every song is pure artistry, and this is them at their peak. Every song is so intricate and beautifully written it could make someone's head spin. No one wants to make an awesome 5 minute (minimum) song anymore!!!
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
It's been a while since I've listened to this one and it still stands strong. It's hard to find the negatives...I love Jimi's voice and guitar work this is peak 60s psychedelic rock
Violent Femmes
2/5
Kinda of lost me after the first two songs (mainly due to being familiar with them) not something I was super into but I guess it wasnt terrible
Yes
4/5
Vibed more with their harmonies over anything else. Enjoyable overall!
Slayer
1/5
ugh
Isaac Hayes
4/5
Didn't know what i was expecting...this is way more instrumental than I thought it would be. Many of the tracks were chill and enjoyable. I will be revisiting this when cleaning/drawing etc
N.W.A.
3/5
Overall mixed feelings I'm not a huuuge fan of 80s/ early 90s rap because some of it can sound very clunky when it comes to the flow. Some songs were solid on this, some had that flow issue. It was alright though.
The Pogues
2/5
Not exactly my cup of tea and not something ill come back to but some parts were alright to listen to in passing
De La Soul
5/5
A master class of how to make samples work. Overall a very fun album its hard to sit still to this one.
ABBA
4/5
Really cute and peppy. Very campy but I may feel this way because its moden day... but it may have been considered camp in the 70s too lol. Love their harmonies too.
Bob Dylan
3/5
Buena Vista Social Club
5/5
Becoming more of a fan of Latin jazz/bossa nova every listen! Excited to hear more stuff like this 🙌
Talvin Singh
2/5
Can't really figure out how I feel about this album. Maybe its just not my style, felt very empty.
Elton John
5/5
Lovely album!! I loved the strings used on a lot of the tracks.
John Cale
3/5
Shivkumar Sharma
4/5
Pretty relaxing 😌 But nothing much more to add to that. May revisit this one when im drawing/reading.
The Temptations
4/5
No one is begging to keep their love with a funky horn and percussion anymore!!! Smh Anyways much love to DETROIT royalty...those who get it get...and those who don't well...🤷🏿♀️

Milton Nascimento

Neil Young

While it was alright, it was a little too uninteresting for me. Lyrics wise it did stand out a lot
The Flaming Lips
3/5
Grant Lee Buffalo
2/5
Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
5/5
Don't know a single thing theyre saying but I really love the vibe and music. The very first track started with a bit of disco sound? Wish I heard more of that through the album
Fela Kuti
5/5
What an honor! Ive always heard the name and seen his influence in other artists but I havent made my way to his music yet. Love the high energy and great fusion beats
Deep Purple
4/5
Liked it a lot more than I thought i would. Enjoyed the funk and rnb elements to some of the tracks.
The Hives
2/5
Harry Nilsson
2/5
Pulp
2/5
Saint Etienne
2/5
I've crossed paths with this group but I find it odd that this album is on this list. Prior to listening to this album, I knew Spring and Wood Cabin(not featured on this album) both simply cute songs. The rest of the album doesnt really match that vibe, unfortunately kind of boring and repetitive...but theres still a charm to it. Not something id listen to again but I may look at their other stuff.
Ray Charles
5/5
JESUSSSSS CHRISTTT?!?!?!
Muddy Waters
3/5
Os Mutantes
3/5
Really interesting/fun production. Some of the sound quality was a bit fuzzy/harsh but overall it wasnt too bad? Solid 3 on this one
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
3/5
I liked this a lot more than I expected. I understand his voice and lyrics aren't for everyone ( I've listened to a different album of his and couldn't make it past the 4th song) But i loved the overall moody tone of this and it fit his voice very well. Really liked a few of the tracks here.
Tracy Chapman
5/5
Beautifully yet painfully heartfelt. Optimistic with walls closing in and every song poetic about those pressures. Great voice, great album.
Richard Hawley
4/5
Very dreamy yet moody--I really did enjoy it. His voice fit the mood perfectly.
Songhoy Blues
4/5
very bouncy rhythm, you dont hear stuff like this much in America. something new for me, I enjoyed it
George Michael
5/5
Wow. Just wow such an amazing voice....I feel like George is a bit underrated (but missed!!!) voice these days. All songs were beautiful and soulful, soothing and lovely. I just loved it. 5 stars easily. It's a rarity that I play an album recommended via the generator more than once in a day but im typing this on my third listen. Love love loved it.
Guns N' Roses
4/5
3 stars alone for starting with welcome to the jungle. Kept that high energy through the entire album. Pretty solid, certified dad rock classic.
Suede
4/5
Very interesting it reminded me a lot of Japanese vkei. A lot of dramatic sound will be revisiting this one
Roni Size
4/5
It was okay! Some tracks were a bit better than others but I vibed with it
Frank Zappa

Sometimes this list shocks me when it generates an album I was sentient for LMAO
This caught me off guard I remember hearing some of these songs on the radio growing up and liked them...but never listened to their album in full. It wasnt bad at all, the singer has such a theatric voice. Just interesting execution overall.
Simon & Garfunkel

Beatles

My FAVORITE Beatles album. I feel like it's criminally underrated when compared to the albums that follow. (and I understand that) An absolute amazing turning point in their music, so good.

It was alright pretty ground breaking for the time. I love new wave and disco so it was nice to see it intertwine like this. They walked so Duran Duran could run.(...ran?)

I've always been quite neutral to U2, I think they have some genuinely good songs but other songs are either just okay or too preachy for my liking. This album fell more under the former for me, after the first 3 songs (all I did enjoy) it was kind of just alright. Nothing much stood out to me, funny enough they did an anniversary tour for this album some years back. I went because my brother bought tickets but even then I just felt like it was okay.

I wish that the general consensus of this album wasn't "It's not Thriller." Like I get it but it's still a solid album in its own right. I felt like Speed Demon,Just Good friends, and Another Part of Me all could've been stronger though... Otherwise all 5/5 songs very memorable and catchy
Ramblin' Jack Elliott

If the phrase "Memento Mori" was an album it would be this. Which is interesting, considering he was murdered a year after this released. A lot of the tracks read more as something heartbreaking, cautionary and self reflecting to me. It's a shame that since this is considered "gangsta rap," no one will look at it as anything else but violent. Maybe everyone should re-evaluate their biases...

I have a 15 minute rule.
If I've listened for 15 minutes and not a single listenable song has played yet, I'm turning it off.
Gave it an honest try.....I understand one of the top rated reviews on this but I would much rather listen to Kanye West or Beyoncé over this (whats his fucking damage??)

4/5
The reviews on this are so funny "its a product of its time" yeah thats...kind of how music works LMAO An album that came out in 1989 sounds like it came out in 1989 shocker!
Regardless of the reviews, its a very good album but if you care enough to dive into the rest of her discography, you'll realize that she was still finding her footing here. She has a strong body of work but I personally find the run of Janet, The Velvet Rope, and All for You, much more fitting for her. (Be prepared these albums are from the 90s/early 2000s guys !!! so it will sound like 90s/ early 2000s music!!)
Once you hear the rest of her music you will never get over the urge to beat Justin Timberlake with hammers.

Lorde
5/5
I rarely feel the need to write reviews anymore but when it comes to Lorde...I'm sorry its just something different. She released this album when I was 21 and officially had broken the chains off from a toxic relationship and a just as toxic friendship. (I was goibg through it) Her delivery and lyrics were like atomic bombs to me. She has a knack for releasing albums at pivotal moments of my life...I say this because Pure Heroine came out when I was a Senior in highschool and I felt like every song applied to me specifically LMAO
Anyway!! Great album, great production love Lorde. yah yah yah
Mott The Hoople

The Who

I think what I enjoyed most about this album is that the songs dont simply end. Its a very extravagant exit each time...which plays well with how intricate the songs can be lyrically and/or instrumentally. Great album...The Who at their peak I think.

I'm a bit confused...how is this any different than listening to the artists these guys are imitating? Nothing but a lazy rolling stones rip off and a little jab at Elvis? What is the point of this? If I wanted the stones I'll listen to the stones why the hell am I wasting my time on this?? Just because Mick Jagger gave a nod to this the same year STICKY FUCKING FINGERS came out!??! "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" alone dog walks this entire album by a mile. Come on now. How the hell is this siting at a 3/5 ranking when its all shit we've heard before from people with actual talent and longevity?
I find it frustrating how often this generator focuses SOOO MUCH on this era of music, primarily rock n roll. I know its iconic and in some instances fundamental to modern music but MY GOD!!! Theres a point where it becomes exhausting, rehashed, and LAZY and this album is the perfect example of that.
If all the reviews are saying this sounds like the stones, that isnt a compliment btw. Shows a lack of talent from the group and boredom from the listener.
Just a serving of crumbs from someone else's plate.

I hate being the guy that says their hit album is better but in this case I will...Discovery still wins for me.
However, I can't say this album is bad since I still enoyed what I heard. It's their debut and you hear them getting their footing. Yes some parts are a bit too distorted, some repetitive, but overall its not awful.
I'm hoping to encounter their Alive album (and Discovery ofc!) while going through this list 🤞🤞
