Do you like Jazz? Sometimes, and this was a solid entry in the genre.
Peter Gabriel
4/5
All his best songs on one album
Femi Kuti
4/5

Metallica
5/5
Just a classic album.
Metallica

Radiohead
5/5
One of the greatest albums of all time
Bob Dylan
2/5

Happy Mondays
3/5
Emmylou Harris
2/5
Good for what it is; it’s just not my genre of choice

Faith No More
4/5
It has been a while since I’ve listened to this, but it mostly holds up

Metallica
5/5

4/5
Surprisingly enjoyable on the first listen. Not sure how it will hold up over time, but for now I enjoyed it a lot.
The Who
2/5
I’d really like it if they stopped pushing the Who on me- they’re not good. Also, live albums don’t really belong.

Throbbing Gristle
1/5
This was just bad.

Zeppelin. Enough said.
Peter Gabriel
2/5
UB40
4/5

Beth Orton
2/5

T. Rex
4/5
A solid 70s rock album
Brian Eno
3/5

The gold standard for dad rock
Underworld
3/5
Good as background techno but nothing to lift it up beyond that

Undeniably a Queen album, but clearly not their strongest

PJ Harvey
2/5

The soundtrack for the villain in a New Orleans-themed musical.

2/5
Certainly not their best album

Christina Aguilera
3/5

2/5
I was optimistic early on, but it just never got there

4/5
Now that is a proper Bowie album.

5/5
A quick 10 songs in 30 minutes, but solid all the way through
Joy Division
4/5
The Smashing Pumpkins
3/5
I remember being so excited when this album came out only to be wildly disappointed because it wasn’t nearly as good as the first two. It has aged ok, but still a distant third.

Leonard Cohen
2/5
Sooooo slow and sleepy

1/5
Just terrible
Jack White

Not as good as his non-solo work, but still good. Not super different than late White Stripes, but not quite to that level.

Quicksilver Messenger Service
4/5

An odd, very mood setting orchestral album. Enjoyed it but probably just the once.

2/5
It was just a bit too much to get into.
Miriam Makeba

Sigur Rós
2/5
If it were a score to a movie it could be good- as a stand alone album less so.
Taylor Swift
3/5
There’s a reason she’s as big of a star as she is, but the style gets a bit repetitive for me over the course of a full album.
The Specials
2/5
As a longtime ska fan I feel like I’m supposed to love this, but I just couldn’t

4/5
The hits are great, but some low end filler too.
Love
2/5
60 psychedelic / like old Pink Floyd, but not as good

3/5
I enjoyed the fast paced dance tunes- the slow ones weren’t my jam
Buck Owens

Not an old timey country music fan, but a lot of very recognizable songs
Amy Winehouse
3/5
If anyone was ever born to sign the theme song for a Bond movie, it was Amy Winehouse

Buffalo Springfield
2/5
A bit too all over the place for me.

Pink Floyd
5/5
I can’t imagine not liking this album

4/5
Far and away the moodiest Springsteen album, but in a good way
The Stranglers
2/5
It was fine, but it blends in with ever other album from this genre
Os Mutantes
3/5
This is a weird one. Definitely some similarities to very early Pink Floyd, but in Portuguese. Still, I enjoyed it (at least for a one off drive to work).
Death In Vegas
3/5
Creedence Clearwater Revival
5/5
Gil Scott-Heron
2/5
Not available though Apple Music and I’m not killing myself to track it down .
Kacey Musgraves
1/5
I’m sure this album would speak to me if I were a 15 girl growing up in Oklahoma. For me it’s just plain awful.
Ice Cube
1/5
I was never a fan to begin with but this has aged very poorly. The lyrics just seem juvenile and very misogynistic to the point of being unlistenable.

Decent, but like a lot of these albums unmemorable.

CHIC
3/5
Surprisingly familiar disco album
The Cure
4/5
Suede
2/5
David Bowie
5/5
John Lee Hooker
3/5
Decent, but it would be better as a solo album than the stream of celebrity cameos
The Psychedelic Furs
2/5
Nick Drake
2/5
Not bad, but a whole album was a bit much
Funkadelic
5/5
Annoying that it isn’t available on normal platforms, but still worth the effort to track down because it’s a classic.
Bonnie Raitt
1/5
I agree that this belongs on the list but boy is this an enormous swing and a miss for me
T. Rex
3/5
Sepultura
2/5
It had potential but the guttural scream vocals aren’t working for me
The United States Of America
3/5
A very weird mellow psychedelic album. It grew on me as it went on.
Germs
2/5
Anything less than 100 seconds isn’t a song. It was ok, but there is just too much mediocre punk on this list and none of it stands out.
The Police
5/5
Jazmine Sullivan
1/5
How is this on the list? It’s neither culturally or artistically important in any way- just a crappy R&B album.
Basement Jaxx
2/5
Very 90s dance club background music.
Moby
5/5
2/5
Elliott Smith
3/5
Pleasant, if uninspiring. That said, I made it all the way through without skipping so that’s worth at least a 3.
3/5
Some distinct Pink Floyd and Grateful Dead-like songs, though not on that level
Nirvana
5/5
The Notorious B.I.G.
2/5
Two stars, all on the back of a single aong. The rest had nothing to offer me.
Pet Shop Boys
3/5
I’m very much a fan, but this is not one of their best albums in my opinion.
Moby Grape
2/5
Underwhelming 60s fare
Simon & Garfunkel
2/5
Mekons
1/5
This was just consistently terrible all the way through
Aimee Mann
2/5
Good for what it is- it’s just not my thing
5/5
From the same band the wrote low rider? Very surprised but very enjoyable
King Crimson
3/5
Björk
3/5
Am I a Bjork fan? That might be going too far but this was far more approachable and enjoyable than expected.
James Brown
4/5
Not a live album fan, and this isn’t his best stuff, but I still enjoy James Brown
Creedence Clearwater Revival
5/5
Heaven 17
2/5
Low end 80s synthesizer music
Astor Piazzolla
2/5
Like going to a children’s music recital and the band is much better, but your kid isn’t playing.
Tears For Fears
3/5
A few hits with some uneven 80s fare in between
Tim Buckley
2/5
The slow, mellow vibe was fine- it was the length of the songs that killed it.
Megadeth
5/5
I used to own this album but it’s been a long time. Still a very enjoyable thrash album after all these years.
Yes
2/5
One pretty good song followed by a very different rest of the album.
The Pogues
4/5
Very early Dropkick Murphys-esque which makes sense because it’s from essentially the same time.
Saint Etienne
3/5
A good upbeat driving album.
Linkin Park
3/5
Started the fed better than expected, but it was too much of the same thing all the way through which lost my interest
Red Hot Chili Peppers
5/5
A funky jam all the way through
The Libertines
3/5
Reasonably enjoyable, but not all that inspiring. That said, it certainly doesn’t deserve much of the hate it gets in the reviews.
Kraftwerk
4/5
A little too out there for a 5 but still a fun album
The Rolling Stones
3/5
This is only on the list because of what they became- on its own it’s a mediocre album with a bunch of covers
4/5
Echo And The Bunnymen
3/5
Very 80s with a lead singer very reminiscent of a lot of others from that era.
Jethro Tull
2/5
Surprisingly more folk rock than hard rock
Isaac Hayes
4/5
That Isaac Hayes sure can cook. The songs are insanely long, but after a bit you really settle into them. Could have been a 5 without the 8.5 minute spoken word intro to the last song.
