Annie Lennox has a mesmerizing voice but as an album the title track makes the rest look dull by comparison.

The Jam is awesome. Full stop.
Neil Young
3/5
Radiohead
4/5
A collection of odd little nuggets. Most of them are both off-putting and incessantly hummable.

Al Green
4/5
Classic
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
3/5
So I'm not an Emerson, Lake & Palmer fan come to find out. No more please.
Happy Mondays
3/5
Almost liked this but I didn't
Fats Domino
5/5
Tom Waits
5/5
What a joy to finally be made to listen to a full Tom Waits album. It was more than the sum of it's parts for sure.
Nick Drake

Prince

Joni Mitchell
2/5
Everybody's mom loves it but I don't get it
Orbital
3/5
Not sure why there are multiple Orbital albums but ok.
Iron Maiden
5/5
Jesus. Christ. This album would be a five if it was just Number of the Beast -Run to the Hills- Gangland, but then there are somehow MORE songs. Absolutely terrific.
Miles Davis

Crosby, Stills & Nash
3/5
A couple really good tracks
The Yardbirds
4/5
There's something about The Yardbirds that I just like
Bee Gees
3/5
It does a lot and some of it works. Didn't hate it but it's not going in the rotation.
The Velvet Underground
4/5
A great album brought down by an overly avant closer.
Randy Newman
3/5
All I hear is You've Got a Friend in Me.
Talking Heads
4/5
They are better when they are less frantic

Radiohead
4/5

Silver Jews
2/5
Boring indie
Led Zeppelin
4/5

Grant Lee Buffalo
4/5
Excellent find. Jangly and, as the title implies, fuzzy.
Björk
4/5
Everything is music
Pixies
4/5
The Strokes
3/5
Kinda bland but listenable
Femi Kuti
5/5
Any Kuti is good Kuti
The Young Rascals
3/5
A bunch of generic stuff and then is this the Pat Benatar song?
Isaac Hayes
3/5
How did they ever get this man to do South Park?
Depeche Mode
5/5
I think exactly two things with Depeche Mode: the song You'll Dance to Anything by The Dead Milkmen and the Venture Bros. That being said, I love this album so much. Even having listened to it so many times before it's still surprising how many bangers are on it.
Coldplay
4/5
Still their best
Judas Priest
4/5
Solid 80s heavy metal.
Robert Wyatt
4/5
Early Floyd and late Bowie filtered through Radiohead.
Bob Dylan
3/5
He Dylans all over it but it's not bad
k.d. lang
4/5
The first really country western album I've heard. Just a delight.
Ice Cube
3/5
U2
2/5
Perfectly passable but ultimately uninteresting songs
Lucinda Williams
4/5
Something transcendent about this but I can't put my finger on it
Aretha Franklin
5/5
Bliss
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
5/5
Classic early aughts sounds. An absolute delight.
The Smashing Pumpkins
4/5
Like all Pumpkins albums it's both a well put together album and also bombastic and over stuffed
The Avalanches
3/5
It's not ambient but it's definitely passive music
Nightmares On Wax
2/5
Never found it's groove
Patti Smith
5/5
Just an absolute gem.
Bob Dylan
4/5
Maybe it's Stockholm Syndrome but I'm starting to come around on Dylan
Jethro Tull
5/5
Somehow greater than the sum of its already great parts.
Justin Timberlake
2/5
It's fine. Having this against a Michael Jackson album did no favors for my opinion of this one. Not hating but none of his good stuff is on this album.
Tina Turner
4/5
Once Tina sings a song it's her song
Beastie Boys
4/5
Beastie Boys are just fun. Their sound evolved but the fun was the constant.
Stan Getz
3/5
Good for what it is but a full album of samba was never going to make it into my rotation
Jacques Brel
3/5
It wasn't bad I'm just not sure why it was included.
Manic Street Preachers
4/5
Britpop Smashing Pumpkins
Blur
3/5
Wanted to like it more than I actually did.
4/5
So so good. Only familiar with one of her songs before this but it's all so varied but just as strong.
The Darkness
4/5
The mountains of drugs that fueled this album were not wasted. A hair one note but AC/DC made a living off of being completely one note so that's not necessarily a bad thing if you like the one note.
Stevie Wonder
4/5
Equal parts sincere and funky
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Still not big on Springsteen. That's it. That's the review.
Rocket From The Crypt
4/5
As a self processed ska guy it's so refreshing to hear just straight up punky horns that want to tear your face off as much as the guitars. A fantastic listen.
Wilco
2/5
A double album with a bunch of different sounds and ideas and only a couple of them are interesting.
Metallica
5/5
Probably their best.
Belle & Sebastian
5/5
A dorm room classic.
Michael Jackson
5/5
Obviously a classic. My listen through had me notice that MJ understood that catchy pop songs should be 90% chorus, which a lot of these are.
Kelela
4/5
Started off a little ho-hum but then the sound expanded and it turned into an interesting listen. Not a huge R&B fan but I can tell when an album is trying things and reaching and I applaud that.
Doves
2/5
Meh. Indie. Whatever.
R.E.M.
4/5
80s R.E.M. is best R.E.M.
Beastie Boys
4/5
A lyrical banquet. Delicious.
Christina Aguilera
3/5
Gets a bit long by the end
Sister Sledge
4/5
A banger and some decent disco
Amy Winehouse
3/5
Still developing her sound
Metallica
4/5
People who say Metallica "sold out" with Load are clearly ignoring this album. An album so packed with stadium bangers, potential WWE entrance songs, and heartfelt Grammy bait you can hear their manager counting the money in the background. It's a solid album and Metallica is a goated band but it goes to show that Cliff and Mustaine were the heart of the Metallica thrash sound for better or worse.
Lynyrd Skynyrd
5/5
FREEE BIIIIIIIIIIIRD! And also some other Southern Rock classics.
The Doors
3/5
Everything anyone has ever said about The Doors is true. I do wonder if their legacy would have died with Jim if it wasn't for Ray.
Miles Davis
3/5
Laibach
3/5
This is capital "A" Art. Unfortunately that doesn't always translate into listenable music.
Rage Against The Machine
4/5
Sly & The Family Stone
4/5
So funky and with an edge. Sly continues to impress.
The Byrds
3/5
Odd cover choices but done well
Thelonious Monk
4/5
Marianne Faithfull
4/5
What a great album discovery!
Paul McCartney
3/5
Such a short album with short songs it feels more like a notebook of ideas.
Portishead
4/5
Solid trip hop album!
Tortoise
4/5
So glad there were no lyrics because this was a GREAT instrumental album
Pearl Jam
5/5
Comes roaring out of the gate
Japan
4/5
Peak 80s synthy altrock. Reminded me that I actually knew a Japan song before this and also loved it.
The Who
2/5
As far as concept albums go this one is low on the list
SAULT
3/5
Stereo MC's
4/5
A lovely bit of early 90s nostalgia. Despite every song having the same feel some are clearly stronger than others.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Forgive me Rolling Stones I was unfamiliar with your game (this album).
Solomon Burke
3/5
Heavy on soul, light on rock. That's not a bad thing, just an observation.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
2/5
Never understood the Elvis Costello craze
Weather Report
5/5
Jaco Jaco Jaco!!!
Deep Purple
4/5
Cocteau Twins
5/5
Loved this album before; love it still. A just about perfect shoegaze album.
Nirvana
4/5
When you want to listen to Nirvana but you also want to chill
Sade
5/5
Timeless
Talvin Singh
4/5
A very interesting mix of traditional Indian music and techno. It was a great listen but I don't know that I'll come back to it.
Ghostface Killah
4/5
Everything Wu-Tang touches is great. I've yet to find a counter example.
Mudhoney
3/5
Decent enough grunge
Michael Jackson
3/5
Michael Jackson is the best above a certain BPM
Queen
5/5
Perfection for what they were going for
Eurythmics
3/5
Annie Lennox has a mesmerizing voice but as an album the title track makes the rest look dull by comparison.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
3/5
Sonic Youth
3/5
I guess you had to be there
Kraftwerk
4/5
Listening to this is like driving on the Autobahn and if you just relax and enjoy the trip it's wonderful but if you spend the whole time looking for your exit it's going to be miserable.
The Undertones
3/5
Early Britpunk.
Sleater-Kinney
4/5
Not what I was expecting
Travis
2/5
Radiohead meets U2.
David Bowie
5/5
What's to say that hasn't been said? It's a groove and a bop. From the moment the clunky piano notes emerge from the shrieking train whistle you know you're in for a good time. All of Bowie's eras were so distinct that trying to pick a favorite is often apples and oranges, but this is a strong contender.
Run-D.M.C.
5/5
"He's the Big Bad Wolf in your neighborhood/Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good" Still wildly influential. Still infinitely listenable. Always down to raise some hell with these three!
The Cult
4/5
This strikes me as the kind of music the lost boys (vampires, not Neverland) would listen to. Very into it.
Public Enemy
5/5
Just incredible. Wildly incendiary but ultimately based in love and compassion. Public Enemy are legends.
Genesis
4/5
Every time I see Genesis I go "you mean we get Peter Gabriel AND Phil Collins?!?!"
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
3/5
Reminds me of when I got together with my high school friends in the summer and we noodled around in the basement
Prefab Sprout
3/5
Started off like store brand The Smiths but quickly devolved into generic 80s pop.
Common
3/5
Nina Simone
3/5
Kendrick Lamar
4/5
The Beach Boys
3/5
Simon & Garfunkel
3/5
Music for all levels of depression
Hole
3/5
Under produced but decent raw material
Slipknot
4/5
A three star album that happens to have Wait and Bleed on it.
Fever Ray
5/5
Never doubt bizarre Scandinavians
Lenny Kravitz
4/5
One of my first albums and concerts. The fact that this album was a one man show was inspirational. Sure, he was part of that 60s revival nonsense in the 90s, but for me he gets a pass on sheer enthusiasm alone.
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Took them a while to settle down into their sound prior to this but the result is solid.
Todd Rundgren
2/5
Nope. Nothing.
Elastica
4/5
Delightful
Elvis Presley
3/5
Why anybody would listen to an Elvis cover over the original is beyond me.
MGMT
3/5
Enjoyable enough. Didn't really leave an impression, good or bad.
Steely Dan
3/5
Listening to this made me realize my parents were big Steely Dan fans because I recognized so many of these songs from my childhood.
N.W.A.
3/5
Strange album. Aggro lyrics over dated beats. It's obvious how this album was influential but to a modern listener I'm not sure it holds up on its own beyond being a time capsule of an era.
Willie Nelson
3/5
Q-Tip
3/5
OutKast
4/5
If you can't find something you like on here you might need to reconsider if you actually like music or not.
