Opening track was the only good song. The rest was quite unbearable

Really not a fan of this album. Pixies are hit and miss. Some label them as essential but to me are mediocre.

Two or three songs that are ok from this album. Otherwise, the sound is like a lot of grunge bands. Not my cup of tea.

I gotta be honest, I would have much preferred if this album were actually bossa nova. I hope there is even a single bossa nova album here instead of just more of the same white boy 80s-90s brit pop punk grunge. Because that's what this pixies album was to me - more of that fade-into-the-background spoilt rich white adolescent 90s brit grunge. Doolittle is already on this list and absolutely no more Pixies are permitted on the list.

I don't hate it. I just didn't think any of the songs were very good for me.

This album was the epitome of dogshit and I never want to hear any of the songs from it again. None of it was unique, original, interesting, or just good quality in general. 0/5 terrible album. Actually gonna kms.

En kyllä tykännyt albumista. Edellinen Pixiesin albumi jonka kuuntelin oli 70-luvulta ja levynä ihan ok. Tämä kuulosti siltä kuin pojat olisivat sen 20 vuotta soittaneet autotallissa jonka seinillä on työkalujen sijaan eri sienilajitelmia. Jos tämä olisi demo jonka Pixies ojentaisi minulle sanoisin luultavasti että kannattaa myös muistaa hommata tasainen päivätyö.

Maybe it's my expectations speaking for me, but for an album with that name, I expected more, much more. The worst problem with "Bossanova" is not that it's the generic of the generic of the generic of the alt rock of its time, but the simple fact that its songs are completely forgettable. It pains me to say this because the album has a good production, but unfortunately that doesn't support the fact that 10 seconds later I had already forgotten what I heard. Regrettable.

I get the album with the fight club song is on here and probably an early noise album of there so the creator can pretend he knew them before they were cool, but this is too much in the weeds for me. I'm done.

I also thought I liked the Pixies, but I really felt this album was best left to my 90s self. My 2020s self has moved on from what now seems like noise music gone to hell in the hands of musician wannabes.

I’m gonna be a hater. Ik that’s predictable but, to me this sounds like an album that’s pretending to be a good album. Idk what is it but the tone/style of guitar I find ✨horrible✨ Obvs I don’t like this style of music but I have was willing to look past it, but it wasn’t enough for me :(

I want to like it, but I just can't like it. I had to force myself to listen, and the only thing going for me, is is was less than 45m long. *whew* Not for me.

ALtijd fijn als een album vol staat met van die lekker ontspannen Braziliaanse bossa nova, relaxte stemmen, geinige ritmes, mooi gitaargetokkel. Als een album alleen maar zo heet, dan is er natuurlijk een stuk minder aan. Met name als het weer van die baggermuziek is.

Pretty typical and ordinary for the time period (90s) - perhaps choosing 1001 albums was a stretch too far and landed into "what we know of", rather than "what is actually good".

Edit: This is the 2nd album generated for me, and I gave it a 2 because I figured there would be things that are much worse than this. And there are, but this is still pretty bad. Downgrading to a 1. I hate the Pixies. This was okay. I think the Pixies just aren't really for me. I thought the latter half of the album was decent, but I just wasn't a fan overall. "Dig for Fire" and "Down to the Well" were the standouts for me.

yikes- “rock music” has got to be THE worst song i’ve heard ever, and given some of the albums we’ve had that’s saying a lot. compared to that song the rest of the album was bad but not as bad as the previous album we’ve had. but i genuinely can’t say one good thing about this album? other than it’s not their worst? i cant decide between a 1 or 2 but i think given the fact nothing about this is good i’ll have to go with a 1. 1.5 at best. the length is good- one more minute and i might just hang myself 🙃🤓

Oh no, why two Pixies in a row.? Loud and irritating and I just don't want to hear this music right now. It's the kind of thing that makes you feel unglued, unhinged, unhappy! Not a fan at this point in time.

Not that good

They really throw you for a curveball with the first three songs. It just switches genre so fast you can't recover. However, past that, its genre stays constant, but it's not a good genre. It's like more digestible noise, which isn't the worst thing? But I don't know who enjoys this mediocre stuff.

Pixies were actually one of the first bands I ever saw perform live. First it was The Wombats who were opening, and then Pixies then Weezer. I didn't know Pixies at the time, but their live performance sucked so bad that it has tainted my perception of this band. I barely even like "Where Is My Mind?" and usually, I listen to covers of it instead. The Pixies just ruined any chance they had of me liking them that night.

First song sounds like cowboy surfer music, the second song immediatley turns into some grunge-punk scream Kinda dig it so far I spoke way too soon, couldn't even finish the album, hated every song except the first one which i liked enough to add to my playlist
