Dreamboat Annie is the debut studio album by American rock band Heart. At the time, the band was based in Vancouver, British Columbia; the album was recorded in Vancouver and first released in Canada by the local label Mushroom Records in August 1975, eventually reaching number 20 on RPM's Top Album chart and earning a double platinum certification. It was released in the United States on February 14, 1976, through the US subsidiary of Mushroom Records in Los Angeles, peaking at number seven on the Billboard 200. It also reached the top 10 in the Netherlands and Australia in early 1977. The album contains three commercially successful singles, two of which, "Crazy on You" and "Magic Man", became staples on North American FM radio. Producer Mike Flicker helped the group to polish their sound and obtain a recording contract with the label.

Shocked to realize there were no Heart LPs on the main 1001, so this is definitely a necessary addition. Front-loaded with the classics for sure, but an amazingly consistent classic rock LP throughout. So many people forget the Wilson sisters' incredible ability to craft killer hooks and shred them to pieces on the guitar, technical ability is one thing but the songwriting has more than stood the test of time. Great addition to the list, surely we could drop 1-2 Elvis Costello albums from the books and give some beautiful, killer rock like this its moment to shine instead.

Heart clearly slipped through the cracks on the originals list, this is also there best album up there with the best of that classic 70’s sound.
I hadn’t heard this album (just two radio hits) and loved it! The hits are phenomenal but the rest holds its own.
This is a great addition to the list! Should have been on the original list, but late than never. 5 stars.

Decent seventies rock. Worth a listen.
When I saw this album, Dreamboat Annie by Heart was submitted I wondered why it was not on the original list. After listening to it, I understand. The first half of this album is good ("Magic Man" and "Crazy on You" are even fantastic), but then it gets weaker. All in all a decent album, but not great or to die for.
Yeah, lovely! Very iconic hard rock, definitely list-worthy. Don't ever particularly care for this type of rock, but can't deny how fun this album is.
Heart should've been represented on the original list so Dreamboat Annie is very welcome, they're iconic and this for a debut effort is remarkably skilled and polished. The singles obviously smash it, Crazy On You and Magic Man are iconic, but White Lightning And Wine and I'll Be Your Song are really good too and set them up perfectly for the act they were gonna become for several decades after. Ann Wilson's voice is unique and immediately recognisable, the bass grooves fucking slap, this is so good I wanna give it a 5 but it misses some of their best later work so it's just a really good 4/5.

This is actually a great rock album - very much of its era but mostly not dated in bad way. It does have that problem of frontloading the two big hits- which are genuine bangers - so that nothing in the rest of the album quite hits that level. I also don't know that the Dreamboat Annie motif particularly unified the album.
A classic 70s album. I had heard all the hits/singles like a million times (of course). The other tracks clearly are not as timeless while still being enjoyable. I liked the recurring "Dreamboat Annie" theme. Almost like the album is dipping its toe into concept album/prog rock territory while still staying in the girls' comfort zone.

This was more...60s folk influenced...than I expected. Couple classics though
I know the are called Heart, have the soft focus picture as the cover and have a love heart into parts of it…but I was still expecting it to be heavier. I’m sure they have heavier songs elsewhere otherwise I’ve got them mixed right up with someone else.
