Reviews (page 8 of 8)

I didn't mind Martina's vocals too much, but Trippy rapping underneath it was incoherent and does not mesh well with her vocals. Overall, I found this to be very boring and further solidifies my dislike of trip hop.

Absolutely hated this album. Lyrics nonsensical and annoying

Never been a fan of British rap. I can see how some may like it but personally it’s not in line with what I like. It’s probably worth more than one star but it’s my review and I get to choose the rating!

Honestly stopped listening after the 3rd song

What...is this? Not good. That's what it is. In fact it's bad. Answered my own question.

Boring

now this website is starting to piss me off was this bad? idk bc i turned it off after a couple songs

Wow. Couldn’t even get thru the first song. Not sure what that’s about. Excited to read Andy’s review to find out.

This album sucks

Nope lol. Knew one song the rest were just ok. I regret giving Faust a 2. Feels like this was better than that by a mile.

Meh, I don't know I don't even know how to justify but I couldn't tune in. Sorry

I don't like this. it's sounds too experimental and dark for me.

New pet peeve unlocked it’s a guy talking while a girl sings the same words

I wasn't able to give this album a second listen before I had to rate it like I'd wanted to, but, frankly, I don't think any amount of listens would make this album any less boring to me.

This may be harsh, but... I really think it’s actually the worst album we’ve listened to so far, at least for my sensibilities. I think my main problem is that it’s just really boring. Like, with the other “bad” albums we’ve had, they keep a consistent theme, there’s at least an attempt at some energy, and there’s usually at least one song where I go, “you know what, that was kinda catchy,” but on this one… it’s just not there at all. The most important thing an album can do is make you feel something; the “bad” albums got me to feel, even if it was anger at repetition or never evolving a sound, but for this one, I felt quite literally no emotion whatsoever. I feel like I’ve just listened to a bootleg album composed entirely of raps and instruments from old 90s CD sample discs; you know, the ones filled with nonsensical verses or random lines that ended up in like, Marvel vs. Capcom soundtracks and stuff. The problem is, there’s no way to make any of these songs actually interesting to my ear. Every track here feels like it’s got absolutely no energy, whether it’s in the production, the tempo, or the vocals, and that just goes against a lot of my musical sensibilities. It’s the first 1 I’m going to give – it’s just that boring to me.

Sampler, Atari, ADAT und 1604... Nix für mich. 1S.

Sultry background music for a nightclub party, where everybody’s high

Pas du tout.

Not my thing, explicit language only added to my low appreciation.

This was not enjoyable. Felt like zero effort went into it. Vocals felt so drab, beats so simple and repetitive, and not in a good way. The "rapping" was cringy. Album felt like an eternity to get through

Absolute trash

Oh God please help me …

There were a few songd that were alright, most were a bit slow.

I would be confused if a friend ever recommended I listen to this.. not a fan

So 90s it hurts.

Yeah, no thanks

I can't say anything really besides this album is actually boring. I skipped almost every song before I got halfway through. 1/5

Quirky departure from the typical trip-hop groove of the 90s, but aged quickly and is now largely forgotten. Miss.

This album sucked

The gorillaz but worse in every way

not my jam

Atrocious. Annoying.

AJ: NOPE Cat: A little weird. Don’t hate it. Don’t love it.

I'm already not a fan of this genre, whatever it's called. Throw in the terrible and sometimes crass lyrics, the creepy whispering and attempts at "sexy" singing, and I'm out. I probably would have rated this higher if it had no lyrics at all. The music is sometimes OK, but gets repetitive. Black Steel was probably the best track, but again, the lyrics ruined it for me.

“Great another electronic album”, he said, sarcastically. Maliciously rating them all 1 star at this point.

Fell flat for me. One and done.

Seemed like the filler left over from better Trip Hop albums. I keep waiting for it to kick in but it never delivered.

This was terrible. Not only did the music not grab me even a little bit, but the mix was terrible. Call me wierd, but I think you should be able hear the vocals and not push them so far back in the mix that they're unlistenable.

Couldn't get through the whole thing so it gets a 1

genre is trip hop. originated in the UK in the 1990s. psychadelic fusion of hip hop and electronic, with many other elements. experimental. black steel was on a good start until Tricky decided to keep repeating the lyrics?? her voice is nice. not too demanding. yeah theres a lot going on with this style. 4 is rap, with mood around it. incomprehensible lyrics throughout the album. Abbaon Fat Tracks with insane sexual and drug lyrics. i can see why some people might be into 8. actually its good. very loud and overwhelming. all over you from start to finish from all angles. not a fan of the frogs. he goes overboard with his outside the box expressions. songs like 9 are really eerie. music and lyrics intertwined. 69 a thing back then. you can feel the drug influence in the album. but it’s disturbing. sure, if thats the point of the album i can see it. but at best case i can never see this album going over 5/10. for me it is lower than that. it just doesn’t consistently work and even when it does it is a short experience that you don’t wana go back to soon. ragga’s voice is really strong and nice. Strugglin is incredible in what it’s trying to do. for a minute you feel like you’re in a basement floating on the edge of consciousness with dark thoughts looming in the background. the laugh at the end of strugglin is haunting. what a song. obvious heroin vibes from velvet underground. given a 3 only because i can see how it can sometimes work and give you what you’re kinda looking for. strugglin is an experience worth reliving. highest rated song Strugglin’ 5/10.

it's amazing how many versions of vapid lazy 90s beats and pointless droning vocals this album contains. the oddly crass lyrics are hilariously bad. the music of waiting for your mom to finish shopping in an overpriced boutique store

Fuck me this was a grind. Got maybe half way through and quit

Not for me. Should've stuck with massive attack

This album is mysterious, rebellious, and ambiguous enough to be considered avant-garde/experimental rap. It sounds like something the goth kids from South Park would probably obsess over. I will always be open to revisiting Tricky's music in the future, but for the time being, I am not in the mood for British trip-hop.

pretty dull

Trip hop type stuff. Did not like

I’ll never get that time back. Thought this was the top 1001 albums

I don't know how to describe the music I just listened to. The album is technically about an hour long but I skipped through some songs. Nothing about it was memorable or good. At times it felt like a good beat was going to be put down and then it wasn't. Then there was just speaking which are not lyrics. Skip it and do not even consider listening to it.

Not many enjoyable moments

Not my thing

Eesh, no thanks.

nononono. thank god that like half the songs weren’t available on apple music because i could not have listened to it anymore. it was so unfortunate to listen to.. there were weird noises and it just was not good.

Very 90's UK. Not a fan.

Ne mogu opisat kolko mi se ne sviđa. Al dala san priliku. Poslušala san cili album

Beginning was ok. The rest was borderline annoying.

Not for me. I felt very uneasy listening to this...as if impending doom was upon us so we are all killing each other.

Ekki minn tebolli. Ábyggilega voða merkileg plata, en bara ekki fyrir mig. Góð innkoma hjá Röggu Gísla.

“themes of cultural decline, dysfunctional sexual relationships, fear of intimacy and recreational drug use.” He seems like a right laugh.

Awful, aimless. Sounds like a highschool project, recorded inside molasses, with none of the potential or impact of a slow album.

Doet een beetje denken aan PJ Harvey, die hier ook al in de lijst gestaan heeft. Geen goed album.

It sounds too much exotic and bad music. Not my kind of thing

inascoltabile
