a hangja számomra elviselhetetlen, a muzsika viszont chill
too easy listening for my taste. probably not the fault of the musicians of this album, its just what it is strong 2
2.5 not bad, just not for me.
Aivan hyvä. Rauhallista pimputtelua.
Did anyone else think the saxophone was way too loud in the mix? The Girl From Ipanema and Corcovado are classics though.
I know this is good music just not my style.
Laivamusaa viimesen päälle. Ei selkeää otepintaa ja soi sujuvasti taustalla. Vaikea antaa enempää kuin 2*
Really chill and i think mostly background music. Also can't really distinguish between the different bossanova songs. Kinda sounds all the same.
It’s good, just a little too “elevator music” for my tastes.
What
When you go to a shitty gala and they hire a shitty band to play the music while you eat... this is what you get. I think there are better Getz albums that could have been picked to show off the improvisation he was known for with this sax. Take the tracks O Grande Amor and Vivo Sonhando. These are brilliant and show off Getz's skill with the sax, but everything else really limits this man's brilliance on this album and that is a shame.
Nice and smooth, should be listened to in a posh hotel foyer! All tracks very similar on account of the need for a sax and guitar solo
nice enough to have on in the background without anything particularly to note musically - wouldn't bother again
Bossa nova? More like bossa no-thanks, amirite? Talk about a boring genre. It's just utterly empty of energy. Just... flaccid saxophones, lazy guitars, and near-comatose vocals all day long. Seriously, being a bossa nova drummer has to be the most boring gig in music. And don't get me started on the obnoxious stereo mix. Almost everything is hard-panned and the mix is unbalanced. And, at times the bass completely overdrives the mic. Which is WILD considering how apathetic the bass player seems to be about the gig. It's not like he's digging in going hard. He's not even paying attention. And neither was the engineer, I guess... No, this isn't a great listening experience. Not on any level, really.
enjoyed the swingy swings
No issues with this album at all. I can't say I'll ever revisit it, but it was enjoyable enough and short. Girl From Impania is the highlight. A high TWO
Nice elevator music
Okey dokey
When he started singing he sounded like a perv. Not really my bag. Too MOR
I don't know that much about jazz so it's harder to gage, but in general it was alright
Stan and Joao's covers are a little slow for me - a little too subdued and sleepy. The album is mostly known for "The Girl from Ipanema" - the shorter, all-English version that sold in the US as a single (vocals by Astrud Gilberto, Joao's wife at the time) has a bit more pep to it.
smoother than a veeted testicle.
It’s ok I suppose. I see this pop up on a lot of vinyl groups I’m in so it’s obviously one that lots of folk love (either that or it’s somehow become known as a MUST have on vinyl for some reason and people buy it because they think they should have it?) Either way, it wasn’t my bag baby.
Ok. Similar to some other Brazilian samba type music I’ve listened to before, but have to be in the mood.
FFS, another bossa nova album? No. I refuse. Giving it a 2 and moving on.
WTF is up with all the bossa nova albums?! It's so irritating. Like I mentioned before, there are international albums that deserve attention. Boooo!
Can we just say no to the Bossa Nova
I couldn't really get into this. Wanted to like it but every song sounded exactly the same. 2.5 stars
As albums go, it's fairly one-note. It's more like one song played 10 times. I guess if you like 'The Girl From Ipanema', then you're really going to enjoy this.
I’m not a jazz girl.
its a mid
Great coffee shop music
Not a fan of Bossa Nova in general. I found the guitar and vocals quite boring. I did enjoy the sax playing though.
The musicians show impressive restraint, but to be honest most of the Latin music I’ve fallen for on this list has a bit more vim and vigour to it. I was charmed at first but it quickly became indistinguishable from any old smooth background jazz. This would probably be the perfect soundtrack to a romantic candlelit dinner on a balmy evening in a South American restaurant. Unfortunately that’s not a situation I find myself in very often.
Me, the heartless fuck, the absolute buffoon, found this album to be very boring. I'm very rarely in the mood to listen to some bossa nova, and this day was no different. I can't even say this is "elevator music" as a gotcha, since "The Girl from Ipanema" is literally the cliché elevator music they use in movies. It's also the best song on the album and the only one that I can recall.
Pure wallpaper - and nothing more
I'm trying to avoid making any major life decisions that would lead me down a path that ends in appreciating bossa nova. Best track: Girl from Ipanema, I guess
Really not my thang, cat! I get how people dig this kind of thing though.
I wanted to like this a lot more than I did - because it's a legit classic in jazz circles. I guess I'm not into bossa nova...
I got through it fine. Soundtrack to some 60s romantic comedy. Nothing I would ever pick to listen to again though.
no. wasnt for me at all.
I liked the jazz-like sound, though it's not something I'd normally listen to. Portuguese is a nice language and it was really interesting to listen to it in music.
Not my thing.
Just not my taste
Pleasant enough I suppose, but not my bag
Pleasant enough but not something I would listen to
Really quite unpleasant to listen to. One star. Tom.
No me gusta...
One song doesnt make an album
Not for me
0/10 bekannt 3/10 Beste Songs: the girl from Ipanema, Corcovado, doralice Jazz ‘ne
Unfortunately, I think this has become synonymous with "elevator music" or "musak" 0/10 liked
Not really my vibe. Can see how it might be pivotal in the shape of jazz music but just a bit boring for mind
Not my cup of tea.
Meh
The only truly bad music is boring music, and this is super boring. Might actually be the worst music I’ve ever heard, because it is so incredibly boring.

Bosta nova
It's a shame that this music became the background sound in elevators. I'm sure it's good, but it fades away that I completely forgot it was playing.
Cool and breezy… And kinda boring. Elevator/hold music.
Definitely not worth it.
Jazz
Boring but I get why someone might like it. Elevator music.
i hate girl from ipanema
Bland and boring. The vocals are not the highest quality, and instrumentation is at times atrocious. Much better music was already played probably 20-40 years before. I can't seem to fathom how this album could be held in any regard and be inspiration to anything after.
Sorry not my style at all. I actually recognized the first song Girl from Impenema.
Can I just say, the cover is a real beaut - the fonts, the palette, the composition - all top notch. I'm almost tempted to give extra marks for the design alone. Sadly, the music sounds like pages from Ceefax. I mean, there's nothing "bad" about it - it is cheesy, breezy bossa nova and you can certainly stick it on in the background and chill out to it without being in any way challenged or invited to think or participate at all. But, in the end, doesn't that just make this little more than muzak?
I had a strange feeling that I was in an elevator during this album...
Nah
Summer days listening.
Not at all my thing
Kadett, Ulm, Deutschland. Turboschlecht!
?? no thanks
I can't get past the whisper/mumble and gooey mixing on this. It just rubs me wrong.
👎🏻
blues jazzet. Gider ikke at høre det.
“The Girl from Ipanema” is good but that may be from familiarity. The album isn’t bad, but I just felt nothing from it. I thought I’d have enjoyed it and found it relaxing. The brass was mixed too closely to the front and was startling at times. I didn’t get it and that’s probably on me
Not my jam.
Nah, mostly just singing. 1/5
39 minutes my ears will never get back
So repetitive
Not for me.
Not my thing but I did recognise one song
I usually am not one for hyperbole but this may be the worst album I have ever heard. Like it was absolute rubbish. No disrespect to Stan Getz of course. I would have happily not had any issues if I had not listened to this album before my death. In fact, this has made me question my life choice such as why did I listen to this album. I wouldn't even recommend this to my friends, let alone my enemies.
1 Star (2/15)
Perfectly fine if you're into this sort of thing but I am definitely not. Very delicate piano over even more delicate drums. Vocally doesn't blow me away. At least Sarah Vaughan has a beautiful voice. Theres nothing to grab onto, no vocal melody, catchy ear worm that gets stuck in your head. It's very nice background music at a fancy dinner party, or when drinking your morning coffee on a summer's day. But to actually sit, listen and concentrate on it, it's 40 minutes of the same, slightly dull stuff. This did absolutely nothing for me and I want a little bit more from music.
👎
Elevator music at a fancy hotel? Or soundtrack for Love Boat or Fantasy Island? To quote the legendary music critics Beavis and Butthead - "Uhhhh....what the hell is this crap?"
Absolutely not for me.
elevator music
There’s only so much that can be created from a bontempi organ on the bossa nova setting, and a saxophone. It was the perfect soundtrack to shredding old bank statements. The sound of the shredder added something that was missing on the original recording.
Sadly it got too repetitive with the same beat and rhythm near enough all the way through. A change of Latin beat may have boosted it up from 1
Nope! Not for me.
Like lift music, not for me
Well. It was certainly something
I tried but just couldn’t do it. Had to give up early. Just not for me.

What a snoozer. The entire band/sound engineer team must have been half passed out in hammocks or bean bag chairs while recording this album. I recognized "Girl from Ipanema" which is alright. Not going back to bossa nova samba jazz anytime soon unless I'm having trouble sleeping...Buenos Noches Senior Getz...0.8.
Felt like I sat in a hotel lobby lounge with mediocre background music that you don't realize is even there unless you specifically focus. After the first song it seemed like it was just a loop of the same dull jazz song. The one benefit of this album is it was very easy to tune out and ignore without feeling like you missed anything. Jazz albums continuing to get horrible reviews. Save your 30 mins and remove this from the list. .55 stars
So muss Montags keine Woche beginnen. Völlig überbewertetes Album eines völlig überbewerteten Musik Genres. Schön, dass es überstanden ist.
Boring
And…. Nope. Bossa Nova= elevator music Really, really good Bossa Nova= elevator music Some of the greatest jazz musicians playing really really reaaaaally good Bossa Nova= elevator music I don’t like elevator music. One bonus star simply because it’s in Spanish Blech.
I'm not on heroin
Classic album, which I listened t occasionally in the past and could appreciate then, but for some reason is getting on my nerves these days.
More 60s crooning from this list, this time in Portuguese. Bland, yet irritating. I think, with the 2 versions on this album, I have heard The Girl from Ipanema five times now, and it is really starting to grate.
Corcovado is okay. The rest is a bit boring, really. Unless you like Bossanova, it's not going to set anything alight. Yes, some of the sax is good. The vocals are not interesting.

Igualmente pra Corcovado.
Good - Girl From ipanema Rest of album poor
Bossanova not my type
Ugh
Not something I'd ever want to listen to. It wasn't bad, but not my style.
Not to my liking
I put this on for my drive home and almost immediately resolved to change it. Ten minutes later I remembered it was on and changed it. Jazzy bossa nova background music. Ew.
Would give 0 if possible.
I don't understand spanish
Nope. Pas pour moi
This sounds like muzak to my ears
Really not my style, got boring after 2 songs. Had a hard time even getting to the 3rd
Bossa nova soninho.
Not for us. Corey likes the girl from impanema though
No Not ok No
Oh
NOPE
This album popularised Bossa Nova in 1964 - it's now 2023 and it's not popularising Bossa Nova in our house. Boring.
Here we go again, sure Girl from Ipanema is beautiful and all the voices and instruments are amazing and you can absolutely have no negative comment on this. Why am I then after listening to the album bored, sleepy and even angry with the world? Cause I apparantly hate bossa-nova and wished it had never exsisted.
Utterly pointless
It has that song that everyone sorry of makes fun of, The Girl from Ipanema. But this is boring, well made jazzy non music. It's fine I guess.
Not horrible but I dislike that style of music, also lyrics have no meaning as I do not speak Spanish. Pretty boring honestly.
This just doesn’t do it for me.
