Reviews (page 14 of 14)

Another case where the album doesn’t really do it for me. It sounds like 60s Schlagermusik. Sure, I know ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ and ‘Can’t Buy Me Love. Don’t know the rest of the songs and don’t care much about them either. The one Beatles song that I’ve come to really love this past year is ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’. None of these songs on this album come anywhere close for me. I’ll add to it that I even prefer that song covered by others, like Girl In A Coma, more than by the Beatles. It’s just hype pop music of its time and that kind of boy band sound is way past its time for me.

Boring really 😭 and honestly overrated

All seems to roll into one.

the beatles fall into a category of foundational, influential inspirational media where i consumed everything it inspired before i consumed the media. boring, but i don't hate it.

Meh. I don't see why it's necessary to include *every* Beatles release in this list. Some of these olders ones are still very rough and not indicative of what the band would eventually become.

Better than I expected, you have to go into this album thinking about where music was at the time, which was mostly bubble gum pop and love songs. Can’t believe this album came out in 1964 then Revolver came out 2 years later. Quite a change.

Pretty early rock. Flashes of the sound to come, but very 50s esque sound. If this is their first album I wouldn't be surprised. Actually kind of surprised this is a must listen album

You know, before I heard this album, I thought love was a wonderful thing - but this album is seriously making me reconsider that premonition. It's like the 13 songs on here are competing for which one can annoy me the most. With the exception of "And I Love Her", which was actually kinda decent. 2 broken hearts out of 5 💔💔

Pretty boring. There are far better Beatles albums.

They're getting there but it's not for me just yet

This was surprisingly dull. Yes, there were a few big hits from the film, etc. but the rest of the album was just packed with the same, short, rather obnoxious songs that sounded incredibly dated and shallow. I can appreciate the Beatles, but their later work was far superior to this.

the night that i listened to it was indeed hard as most songs on here sound kind of the same. not terrible, just boring

Seeing this sitting at nearly a 4/5 average while an album like Hounds of Love barely pushes 3.5 is pretty depressing. Sometimes I just want to grab a Beatles fan by the shoulders, shake them and ask "Why do you all like this album so much?!", and you aren't allowed to talk about it's "influence" or anything like that. Just what are you hearing in this music that I'm missing, it's just the most plain uninteresting pop music you'll hear from the 60s. I'll never understand.

A quickie from the Beatles, not bad not great

Perfectly fine. Not really a style I'd listen to much on repeat, but I enjoyed this while it was on

05.06.2023

I've spent a lot of time saying that The Beatles that I don't like is the psychedelic stuff because I thought that was true. I also don't like this. I just don't like their voices. Or the music really. They have some songs I like, but none of them were on this album.

Look. It's ok. Enough beetles.

This album sounds a little too friendly. I subscribe to the idea that every song on this album would be perfectly suited for a breakfast cereal or coffee commercial. This album isn't for me. I like later Beatles albums better.

boring!!

These songs are largely so familiar that it's hard to have any objective opinion about them. I guess this was the start of the band trying to break out of their boy band mould. Some okay songs here, but nothing I would choose to sit down and listen to out of choice, unlike some of their later work, and certainly not their best set. Quite like the cover though.

This album kind of annoyed me. Plain music about insecure, controlling lads

I listened to this one many times as a youngster and this was the first time I realized that I dont really like it 2/5

Catchy tunes, cringy lyrics

A hard one to rate. It doesn't have the genius songwriting and production of their later albums, so the handful of great songs on it aren't enough to make me want to go back and listen to it today.

I get no joy out of being proverbially “that guy”, but. I just don’t like the Beatles much, especially their early stuff. 2.5/5

Album 99 and first from the Beatles. I know this is the first of many. I am sorry to say that I’ve never really liked the Beatles. We’ll see if that changes as I go through the rest of this project. After Hard Day’s Night, my opinion hasn’t changed. I did like I’m Happy Just to Dance With You. Maybe because it’s Harrison singing lead. I’ll have to pay attention to that. Lennon and McCartney’s voices have always annoyed me. Maybe my lack of appreciation for the Beatles is simply that. 1 = bad 2 = average 3 = good 4 = great 5 = outstanding

Honestly, a pretty middling album. This is probably only included because it's a Beatles album, and while I think the Beatles were really important, it doesn't make their earlier work any more enjoyable.

Not really my cup of team. Was OK, few known hits but not much else apart from that

A couple of OK tracks, the rest being average to bad pop music. Why are they so highly rated? I don't get it. I suppose that if you write and perform enough music some of it is almost bound to be good (There are exceptions to this - looking at Frank Zappa). Once again, this falls way below expectations given their reputation

ok, after a long hiatus I'm back on it. Saw this Beatles album and had a hard time starting back up. It's not that I hate 60s bubble gum pop but it's just really hard to get excited about. There are some good songs here but still.

Not a fan of the earlier Beatles 2/5

This is boy band Beatles. Terrible

Personal taste, but I just don't really enjoy anything pre-Help! 2.5/5

Not my favorite or go-to Beatles album. There are some decent songs, but not enough to make it worthwhile. Thankfully not a single song goes past the 3-minute mark.

Technically gifted saccharine pop that was ultimately rather unsatisfying. Interesting only in the sense of showing how far they traveled.

My relationship with The Beatles is weird. I nothing them. I don't mind a lot of songs, and feel nothing about most others. Just very middling stuff that doesn't provoke much emotion from me.

Early Beatles do nothing for me. Songs are boring and repetitive. If it wasn't for 1966 and on – essentially, Revolver – I don't think I would like the Beatles at all.

leiðist bítlarnir

A couple of good songs but its all very one paced

poppy as fuck and the pair of them finding their feet so a bit, eh, samey. 2

Yeah, I'm glad they got better over time

Couple of good tunes but still not having the love for the Beatles

It was ok. What you’d expect really. I prefer their later stuff.

Not a Beatles album I would ever choose to play

I don't think I'll ever get the hype behind the Beatles.

Horny jazz

Not a fan of their earliest work.

Good harmonies, but nothing making me want to relisten

I didn’t realize till now that the Beatles were the boyband of the 60s

Can't buy me love A hard day's night La partie chiante des Beatles néanmoins

It's ok.

please no not the beatles again help me

It was ok. Not my favorite Beatles album

Catchy and all but yeah what else

Okay, but they're not to "good Beatles" yet

I didn't like it

A hard dumb album

Involves booze! Lots of booze!

Not for me malignant

Na can’t do it. So boring

Not for me

Album sucks sound like 60s Disney music

I don't really care for the old Beatles and struggle with most of the later stuff as well.

I don’t like the beetles

Most songs made me angry. Has aged terribly. I get it was probably super progressive for boys to say they were crying back then but this whole album just read as one big immature whine to me. The lyrics (in terms on depth of content and the rhythm produced) is so basic and uninventive it sounds like it's been churned out by ai or a 7 year old. Woooo, I love you,  yes I do. It's true, don't make me tell you, I doooo Wooo woo woo Musically unimpressive, repetitive and boring. The fact I've never heard this album is testament to my mother's good taste in music. Clapping in 4/4 is for church and children and shouldn't feature on a studio produced album. The one time I thought "oo this is good", the album had finished and had started playing something else

I cannot stand the Beatles. I mostly just avoided them before but I've now had to listen to four of their albums in 60 days and it's pushed them into "visceral reaction of pure rage" when I see their name pop up. I hope this is the last one.

too noise

Nothing but sugar

I dont like it

Did not like it

I don’t like the Beatles

this is my sixth beatles album. wtf? they can be as legendary as they want but there's no way this legitimates putting 6 of their albums into a best of compilation of all times. i'm starting to give them 1 star out of spite now...

Didn't like the vocals nor lyrics. Could appreciate some of the compositions. I've always disliked the Beatles whenever ive heard them so I am biased against them for sure.

Gaan we weer. It's been a haaaaaaard days night and I have been workiiiiiiiiing like a dog". Eerste zin nr. 2: “IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII should have known better with a girl like you” Eerste zin nr.3 “ If I fell in love with you, would you promise to be true (gaat nog goed) and help meeeeeeeeee (ahhh, toch weer) understand. Dus: vertel me meer. “The songs are great, too”….

I didn't get through it.

The Beatles are the single most overrated band. Listening to this full album was torture.

It's time for me, again, to assess another album from the most overrated musical artist of all time-except this time, it actually hurts me a little. While the over-glorified boy-band/1960s One Direction is overrated, I tend to say their music is at least mediocre. However, this album reminded me more of an NSynch album than a typical Beatles album. It's just boy-band pop love songs throughout the album. Favorite Track: "A Hard Day's Night".

Booooring, listened to three songs and put on "Bottomless pit" by death grips, a much better album

Needs stern editing . Piss weak

I had to listen to this on a monday morning and I made it everybody's problem God I hate lennon, the only songs that didn't completely annoy me were And I Love Her and Things We Said, I really don't understand why lennon was the lead singer what the fuck was wrong with them

I cannot imagine how much better a place the world would be if these insufferable cunts never existed

I just don’t like the Beatles!

This album sucks, this band sucks

Growing up, there were only 2 ways to listen to music: buy it (usually via the Columbia Records and Tapes: 13 for $1 as long as you bought 8 more within a year), or listening to the radio. I was a kid without income, so the latter was the main method. Unfortunately, the decent rock station in town had "Beatles Sundays": every Sunday all day, all they played was Beatles. This Clockwork-Orange-style torture and conditioning has resulted in me not enjoying listening to the Beatles except in very occasional small doses. This album is not a small dose of the Beatles, and the age and mixing technology means it's a very bright, treble-heavy, and frenetic assault on the listener. While I have an appreciation for the breadth of the Beatles' abilities, the new ground they forged and the broad influence they had on the music scene, that does not extend to an appreciation for listening to this album. I didn't even get halfway through before I just had to stop and listen to something else to calm my jangled auditory nerves.

I honestly don't get the hype. Was neutral at best to 75% of the album, but honestly I actively disliked most of it. A product of it's time perhaps? I couldn't imagine this gaining traction these days if a modern group released this. Actively turned off a few because I disliked the lyrics or the song enough that I just didn't want to listen to it any more.

Fucking Christ No

Radio friendly silliness.

First song was not so bad. Then the second song reminded me why I don't like them. Ughing for the rest of the runtime

Its insane how this album is only 30 minutes long but by the halfway point of the third song I was already checking spotify to see if I was close to the end of the album

All sounds the same, all love songs. NAE MINOR!

I dont get the appeal

I have (almost) never liked the Beatles. I once went through a brief Sgt. Pepper phase as a teenager. But tunes like this mystify me. I know it is heresy, but I just don't see the appeal of the Beatles. It is Koolaid--something you only drink as a kid and only if you have bad parents. I know millions of people love it, I know what it sounds like, but I can find no more appeal in it than listening to a Backstreet Boys or Insync. This is nothing but lady-pandering teeny bop before there were synthesizers. Move along grownups, nothing to see here.

I tried to give this a listen but I really couldn't make it past the first few songs. I've never been a Beatles fan and this definitely didn't change that. The vocals sound too whiney for me to listen and I don't enjoy the composition of the songs either.

Best thing about this album is that it's short. "You Can't Do That" is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

I did not like it. Most of the songs sounded exactly the same to the point that I have a hard time telling them apart. I knew 2 songs off this album before hand but they aren't songs I would go looking for to listen to. I only made it 10 minutes before I was getting bored. Would not listen to again.

I hate the Beatles

Still waiting for that entry point into these guys. I wouldn't willing sit through that album again. Only saving grace was the songs were short.

Don't really like the beatles, and the album love theme is annoying

outside of abbey road and a couple specific songs i don't really care at all about the beatles. rather boring. you can do much better within the 60s or in any other decade.

The Beatles is really boring.

ass album

Not my music at all, beatles is just too abstract most songs that are not part of top 2000

Overrated.

No! No! No!

Shit album

такое

Has some of my least favorite Beatles songs on it.
