Just not my thing.
Not my choice…1/5
Free form jazz, blech
Too discordant. Didn’t enjoy
Jazz - I just don't get it!
yea, jazz is not for me
I can appreciate that it took a certain level of musicianship and creative freedom to create this, but it didn't interest me at all.
too many notes
opposite of my thing
Noise, just screeching noise. Who gave John Coltrane a musical instrument? I just have one question, how dare you?
Meh
I didn't enjoy this. Too jazzy! All over the place in parts and too jarring. I know that's probably part of the appeal and I'm meant to appreciate the technicality, but I don't! I enjoyed the Hugh Masekela album more than this so this is getting a 1.5
I really tried with this. I want to like jazz but just find it irritating. I’m sure the musicianship is impressive but i just don’t get it. An aimless racket. Emperors new clothes.
Kept waiting for the song to start but it never started :(
Don't like jazz
ENOUGH WITH THE JAZZ ALBUMS!
I listen to some weird shit, and several of the bands are heavily influenced by free-form jazz. But they at least carry a theme over, around, and through which they play their instruments. But with this there were many many times when it just descended into a cacophony. Not for me.
I used to think I had a pretty diverse music taste, but this week’s selections have thrown a few different genres, and I’m struggling to enjoy stuff that’s out of my lane. I can appreciate this for its technical brilliance, but it just doesn’t inspire any of the emotions that make me turn up the volume, or listen again.
Awful
A Love Supreme Pt V - Hideous
Wow this is another level of horrible
Nice
Got anxious
Not my thing. It didn't move me emotionally and didn't work as background music, found it too distracting
Not the biggest fan of jazz but I can appreciate it in some ways. It reminds me a lot of films set in New York such as 'Taxi Driver' and 'Mean Streets'. I've always seen the saxophone as a sleezy instrument. Half way through the first song the best began to become a bit more cohesive compared to the beginning. Towards the end when he keeps repeating 'Love Supreme', it reminded me a lot of Viper the Rapper. He raps in that monotone voice similar to John Coltrane and often uses repetition. Jazz just gives me anxiety and makes me uncomfortable as a genre. Overall, was not a fan.
Awful. Of course.
I didn't share the opinion of the YouTube comments.
No.
Honestly just sounds like a 3 year old let loose on a trumpet.

Jazz not for me, I’m afraid
Jazz is a fucking mess isn’t it!? I don’t have a clue how to go about this. I’m sure it’s all very good to those who ‘get it’ but I’m not about about to gush about something just because I feel like I ought to… at times this borders on unlistenable. I don’t understand it and I don’t like it.
I haven’t heard John Coltrane before. Prior to this review project I was pretty much a blank slate with jazz in general, but Miles Davis easily won me over. So let’s see if I enjoy this as much! Songs I already knew: none Favourites: A Love Supreme Patient 4: Psalm This album gave me a headache. There is an old saying in jazz in that it’s all about the notes they AREN’T playing. Well I’m pretty sure than John Coltrane plays all the notes regardless of what the rest of the band is doing which ends up making a big mess of sound. There are parts where you can hear the brass instruments squeaking (I think it’s saxophone) and it’s just an all round unpleasant sound. The one positive is that track 4 was a little easier to listen to, but it’s still not good by any means.
100
Like it's jazz I get it, but just sounded like an unorganised orgy of instrumentals
Fuck jazz
Too much for moi.
I am comfortable with not being a jazz person 1
Mmmmm. Jazzz. Niiiiiice. But not for me.
p78, 1965. 1 star There is a reason that jazz fell out of favour, and this is a prime example of why. It might be technically excellent, but for the casual listener it simply isn't accessible - it comes across as formless, self indulgent, meandering musical wankage. This is 32 minutes of my life I will never get back.
no jazz
This sound wasn’t for not me.
Just don't like jazz
Jazz.... Still not a fan. This album was a grind to get through
Yeah, I just don't get it. It sounds like he's playing a different song to the rest of the band. I'd be interested to know if he actually plays it the same every time he plays it? It almost sounds as though it's a bit random? A lot of the time it didn't even sound good, it was just messy. Like the saxophone bit was ok, and the backing band was ok. Individually they'd have been fine. But they just don't seem to go together?
perdón pero se me hizo RE aburrido y encima yo q no me gusta el jazz que más puntuación le voy a dar
ça prend la tête de fou, à part la dernière track
They are very jazzy, but I could listen to a whole album worth🎷.
I appreciate the attempt to create an album that has "movements" instead of songs in order to tell a story. Free form jazz, as far as I can tell, is just a bunch of really talented musicians each playing their own song, but all at the same time. It just doesn't land right with me. There's too much going on. I loved Alvin Jones's work on the kit in this one though.
Nope
I really don't care about music theory. Maybe if I did, I would think this is cool, but there are so many points in the album that fall flat. I really didn't enjoy that the first song separated the instruments to left and right making it unbearable. The album was also missing my two of favorite jazz instruments, the drum and the piano. Jazz standards and key changes are not things I find interesting.
I'd love to like this sort of music, but I can only really listen to this in a bar with lots of loud chatter, and a glass or 3 of red wine.
inascoltabile
1/5 kann ich nix mit anfangen
Hated it. I really tried but it did nothing for me
false
Pretty good!
Good jazz but not for me
