Reviews (page 8 of 8)

eh it's not bad but it's background music to a country pub or something. it's kinda country, kinda rock, kinda soul-ish at times, a bit bluesy, just a whole heap of stuff but none of it grabbed my attention. 2/5.

Not my cup of tea

This shit was ass

I listened to the first track, saw the timeline of the full album track on YouTube, and thought: "Oh crap. Still more than an hour to finish this." The recording quality and use of instruments change so much throughout the album, and I really don't understand this lack of consistency... The style of the songs changes a lot, too. Sometimes it sounds like a boy singing to a Lou Reed song, sometimes like a boy singing to a Rolling Stones song...

I just found this so boring

Not for me. 1/5

I have always found Wilco to be utterly and hopelessly boring. This album to me is no different. And it’s a friggin double record. Jesus Christ. I know they are popular, but I just cannot ever figure out why. Most of the songs are musically boring from everything I’ve heard by them, I’m not really a fan of Jeff Tweedy’s voice. They are just a really, really generic sounding band. All are completely competent musicians, but they don’t ever seem to do anything interesting with their talent. I get some of the heartfelt, bygone era, missing home type lyrics. That’s all well and good, it’s just not for me in this moment. Maybe one day they will resonate with me, but it is not this day.

Indie country rock? Not for me thanks.

I was bored. V bored

Got dumped by someone who was a Wilco fan and can't listen to Wilco for a bit, sorry

I really don't know how this made it on this list

There were moments in here that conjured up The Killers/Brandon Flowers - which should have been an easy win. However, nothing ever felt all that well put together, and I was left feeling largely bored, annoyed, or both. Perhaps I'd have a better appreciation for this with more playthroughs, but its length seems too high a price to pay for entertaining that notion. Had it been halved, I'd have given it a 2 (or possibly higher with attainable replays), but at 75-minutes, it's a flushable fail that I'd rather just forget.

Someday Soon I won't have to listen to any more Wilco. Can't wait.

Didn't do anything for me tbh. Some echoes to the Byrds, Burrito Bros, etc (which Uncle Tupelo did better anyway), mixed with more contemporary sounds as if trying to be determinedly "different", it just comes across as a bit schizotic to me. Not one I'd return to.

Not too shabby! Didn’t rise to the one of the greatest albums of all time standard for me. Won’t rush to listen again.

Not a fan.

Yee-haw. Folk country music is annoying, even if they have a cool band name.

Duller than dishwater. Even the cover art is garbage.

Two whole discs of these dweebs. Ugh.

Groupe inconnu. =>1/5

So apparently indie country is a thing - wish it wasn't...

Bisschen lash nicht mein ding

I wish I had more thumbs so I could give this album 4 thumbs down

This wasnt great. We stopped at about 3 songs in, too whiney and we werent in the mood for it.

Lazy album and dire lyrics.

I decided to listen to this in my morning run. It outlasted the run. Then I kept listening to it during my drive to work. It outlasted that as well. Then I had to drive product to a client. I put on random shuffle instead of this because anything is better than continuing through the 57 flavors of beige.

Please shut up and leave me alone. No, seriously, SHUT UP. I don't know what you think went wrong in your life but it's just not all that interesting. And yes, every song sounds exactly like something I've heard before a long time a go. Now please shut up.

This was just terrible.

pmo so bad sorry

157/1089 - It's almost listenable but his voice sucks too much. Flat and monotonous. The instrumentals also aren't nearly as interesting as on the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot album. Very forgettable. Thankfully there's only one more album with them and it's with that country guy with the strong accent so it might sound a bit different. Non-list recommendation: Jamiroquai - Traveling Without Moving (1996) The last of the initial acid jazz/nu-disco sound of Jamiroquai (Toby Smith and Stuart Zender are largely integral to this) with great hits like "Virtual Insanity" and "Cosmic Girl."

Boring and over long. Par for the course for Wilco.

Good god I cannot stand country and their bullshit baby whiny fucking voices.

Huoh 1h 17 min chilling wibing sääntöä…

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long

Wilco's "Being There" cover art is a visual disappointment that fails to capture the album's musical complexity. The design feels uninspired and forgettable, lacking the creative energy that defines the record's sonic landscape. The cover seems like an afterthought - bland, generic, and completely disconnected from the album's intricate musical themes. It misses an opportunity to visually represent the album's rich, experimental nature and the band's innovative spirit. The artwork appears flat, unimaginative, and does little to entice potential listeners or reflect the nuanced musical journey within. For an album that represents such a significant artistic leap forward, the cover is frustratingly pedestrian and utterly unremarkable. Album artworks rated: 25/1001 Music's fine tho

Yikes... did not like this one, made it through the whole thing though

Musics worst crime on itself - the 80 minute CD. These guys need an editor / producer who can say NO. Actually, 80 mins had nothing to do with it. I was well bored before then. Which is weird, because I have heard Wilco before an enjoyed them.

I’ve never really listened to Wilco before, but thanks to 1001 Albums generator I now know they are completely shit.

Of all the boring bands Wilco is one of the boringest

Dullsville.

Boring whiny shite.

Hardly anything special or noteworthy about this album.

Wow, this was a slog! Its not that is was an awful album or a genre that I don’t like, it was just such a vanilla, boring album! This should be right in my wheelhouse, guitar based rock, but it was such a boring album. Sorry, it might be amazing, but it was lost on me. Vanilla shite

Seichter alternative Country.

I can see why people would like this, it’s just not for me

Boiler plate indie folk and alt rock, there's literally nothing special or interesting about Wilco, and I'm already dreading the time I'll have to listen to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot again because of this god forsaken list.

wish you were here instead of me

Oof. I guess it’s for someone. Songs sound really low effort to me. They’ve mastered the country/honky-tonk meander and songs take an eternity to get going. No hooks. Had to speed run this one bc it’s over an hour. Kinda liked what the opener was setting-up but I won’t be taking any of these tracks with me.

Too mellow for me

After what seems like weeks of listening to the same album every day, this list really does show it's bias towards "classic/alt/psychedelic rock with a touch of country" albums. And here's another one to throw on the pile.

I sleep

1. Not into the country vibes

This is what Satan would play for me in hell

No good

I can not get on board with this. Lazy vocals, drab music. Just not good.

When I got the album Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo, I thought it would sound like how this Wilco album does. Man, is this slow, boring, obnoxiously twangy, and way too long. After a while, I started to become numb. Glad they moved away from the alternative country stuff as they went on, as this certainly didn't do any favors for what I thought of Wilco.

Tröttsamt gubbträsk…

I don’t care for it. Nothing special, nothing caught my attention.

Was not the vibe for me

These guys have to learn that singing about greedy goblins stealing your gold stash is way more interesting than whining about leaving your girlfriend back in Tennessee or some shit. What I'm trying to say is, that this is boring and goes on for an insanely long time. Almost 80 minutes with next to no diversity. Pain.

Alternative music flirting with country makes me uncomfortable

This is one of those albums to judge your friends by. I for one, don't get it, and don't get those who do.

Soooooo boring

Not a fan at all. This is the first album that I almost stopped listening to.

Countryish meh, nothing about this album stands out or excites me, nor do I find it pleasant to just have in the background, I would prefer silence to this mediocrity

blechj

Reminds of randy Newman’s retarded son…music was super boring. How do these guys have fans!???

Besides one or two good songs, a long boring album with no personality. I know that Wilco influenced some new bands that I like, but I didn't see anything here.

Didn't like. Everything sounded the same and it was too slow paced for me.

One of my all-time favorites.
