Well. 4-5 songs excellent, the rest I don't really care for. Mother's Lament is incredibly annoying. Clapton is a massive clanger also.

Alright background music, all songs sound the same. I would never seek out to listen to this album specifically.

Cannot be denied pleasantness, cannot be awarded greatness. Neat production without mastery of vision; the album wants to be generous but fails to commit or transcend towards firm realisation, be it psyche/grandiosity/bluesy. Good enough songs, but no particularly honest one.

Honestly, it's a little all over the place. Just a bunch of blues riffs, a drinking song (Mother's Lament), and none of them are particularly catching except Sunshine. Clapton sucks as a human. His music and blues jams are still overrated.

Famous song on an eh album, and I don't particularly like the famous song anyway. Also, wtf is with the last song... I didn't get actively frustrated with this album so it gets a 2

It's one of these major albums that changed music. Clapton is a person who I have so many personal disagreements with that I find him a bit hard to stomach and I think his dangerous opinions will ultimately dilute his popularity as a musician.

Never rated cream. Hate Claptons falsetto. Repetitive and over lauded as a guitarist. And an A-hole. The skittering jazz drum seems wrong. Its all flat and dreary.Couple of decent tunes up front. Not a believer. 2

I will probably never not be bored by blues records. But here, the genre comes with some psychedelic sprinkles on top, which makes the music somewhat easier to bear, but not enough to really like it. 2/5

Worth a listen once, psych rock is not my jam

The supergroup Cream were indeed influential. And popular. The musicianship shown is exemplary. Sunshine of your love is the only track on this whole damm album that sticks in the memory. I remember enjoying a couple of the other tracks - no more than a couple - but not enough to have them stick in my mind. Most of it was not aggressively bad... Just meh. And for that it gets a meh score.

Is this one of those white bands who lifted all their stuff from black musicians? Kinda sounds like one of those white bands that lifted all their stuff from black musicians. Not that it's bad or they're not talented but yeah...

4 stars for music. -2 stars for Clapton, the dick

I don’t give a shit about Cream. This album is surprisingly way more mellow than I thought it’d be. Point added for Sunshine of Your Love, but the rest of it is junk.

Liked a couple of songs, but that was it. I couldn't get into it.

I remember this album -- I might have owned it, or maybe friends did -- and for a time I liked some of it because when I was an early teen I was really into guitar-centric "classic rock" (as it's called these days). Cream, though, did not hold my interest for too long back then, and I never returned to it. Super-talented musicians, definitely, but the style is too psychedelic for me. I just don't really like that kind of rock.

I was able to push through the fact that Eric Clapton is an awful fuck of a person (separate art from the music for melanin challenged folks, I know, I know). The album was ok and I know that people love it so I’m stoked this ain’t Twitter or Facebook so that I can’t get lectured to right now, but I found it monotonous and tiring. Actually, I’m tired writing this write now.

Great hits, great sleeve, the rest of the album, less so. Ever since I heard the Ella version of Sunshine the original has seemed underwhelming.

Weirdly difficult for me to rate. I have this possibly overly-unrealistic dislike of Eric Clapton - I feel like his solo work was and is absolute trash and the worst of lazy-middle-of-the-road so-called "rock." Also seems like a right dingus. But. I admit Cream were different - I'll give Jack Bruce all the credit to make myself feel better. "Sunshine of Your Love" is a classic that everyone knows (although the lyrics are just dumb dumb dumb but who cares) and overall there is a unique and probably for the time groundbreaking sound they had. "Tales of Brave Ulysses" is hilarious/ridiculous lyrically (wtf?) and boy did Clapton like that kind of chord progression but it's a great tune - this is one of my favourites by them. In a number of songs you can hear what I assume is Ginger Baker (drums) shouting out changes which gives those tunes a cool live-in-the-studio effect. But "sound" only goes so far, and too many of these songs are just....snoozers. "Blue Condition" sounds like a bunch of guys who were up drinking for 24 hours against their will and told to record RIGHT NOW. "We're Going Wrong" is about as accurate a song title as is on the album. I realize this is considered a classic and it's fun to hear a few of these songs again after a while but it's not something I can listen as a whole any more - Cream is an excellent "Greatest Hits" kinda band for me. Most of the songs here are just dull. 5/10 2 stars

Mother's Lament sucks and drags the whole album down 1 star. Otherwise, just average blues rock. Sunshine of Your Love is the highlight.

Not massively impressed. Surprisingly, a bit boring. Better when Clapton is singing. Best song are the first two on the album, "Strange Brew" and "Sunshine of your Love". Downhill from there.

Not my cup of tea. At times I thought Jack Black might join in or Austin Powers. The lyrics were cringe at times. It was a bit too groovy - classic songs strange brew and Sunshine .. excepted. Sorry Eric and crew

Woof, this sucked. The stuff that may have once been good (or at least tolerable) is absurdly overplayed and the rest is nearly unlistenable - leaden, plodding, tedious crap.

Ooohhhhh Eric Clapton is in this band? No wonder I couldn't stand this. It's just so boring and dreary, and from start to finish completely uninteresting with how the entire album just sounds exactly the same. Eric Clapton has got to be one of the most overrated musicians to have ever existed. He's often hailed as one of the greatest songwriters and guitarists of all time, but just 5 minutes of this man's music will make it obvious that the first claim is a complete load of shit, and as a guitarist I mean he's perfectly competent but I really don't see what makes him anything special.

This is not the worst album I've ever heard. However, for a guy you would have to pull out the "Separate the art from the artist" card to defend, Eric Clapton sure is boring. Also, I just briefly checked the album lists and learned that man is involved in at least five more albums on this site. I feel violated.

I wasn't ready to be surprised by this album, but truly was after track one: "Whimsical, catchy, not too flashy, hmm maybe Cream aren't too bad after all, doesn't seem a world away from Syd" After track two: "Well everybody in the world knows this riff. I don't love it but fair play it's clearly a big song. I wonder what will come next" Throughout the rest: "[winces] oh yeah this is more what I expected, [shivers] yikes those lyrics are embarrassing, [cringes] what is happening in this song right now? It's just drifting from one guitar flourish to the next, [winces again] yikes the original bluesmen must be turning in their graves." Final thoughts: "Cream's own Spotify bio confesses that they are overrated and Clapton is a prick. Despite some early promise, I won't be returning"

The only song I even remotely enjoyed is (shock and surprise) the main hit. And even then I don't really care for that track that much, it's just mildly passable. So if that's the bar this album set, I can't say I enjoyed my time here

It was ok, fun and funky but skippable.

Another one I was excited to check out since I hadn't actually listened to much of Cream beyond Sunshine... I found the majority of this album to be completely "meh" for me. Sunshing of your love was the sure high point, and I don't know how much of that is just because the riffs are so iconic in popular culture at this point. There's some other decent elements, but not something I'll be revisiting. I appreciate the guitar skills in the same way I appreciated what Megadeth was doing - high skills but not something that connected to me in the same way that others of this era have.

this album was kind of boring to me. not a fan of the high pitched elfin drugged out 60's singing in the first part of the album. Sunshine is the only song i went into this knowing. it's the only one that i wanted to listen to. i listened to it while i was driving and that made it slightly better. I kept hearing songs that I thought I was going to like that ended up annoying me. Tales of Brave Ulysses was ok. I mean, I'll take anything Homeric. SWLABR started out sounding cool and psychadelic but the words ended up bothering me We're going wrong was the best album on the track IMO. It was cool and minimalist and ominous but didn't quite seem to get there. Take it back - Clapton can't do blues like the stones or zepplin Mothers lament sounded like a monte python skit.

Oh, joy! The moment I knew had to be coming is finally here! Clapton's third gig! I sure do hope this list contains ALL of them - not the least of all his solo career! Look, I hate Eric Clapton. And nothing is going to change that. Not even the iconic riff on Sunshine of Your Love. While this is better than the Bluesbreakers and Derek and the Dominos, it's still Crapton.

Psychedelic garage rock with more interesting guitar work than the vocals deserve. Especially “Sunshine Of Your Love,” with its iconic guitar riff. Nothing else on the record comes close to that particular high, and it isn’t even that great of a song to begin with. I guess the bar for mediocrity was lower in the 60’s. I don't really enjoy this period or style of music .

This may be the worst of the "great albums" I've ever heard. It's honestly terrible. Strange Brew is a'ight, but it's downhill from there. I've never cared for Sunshine of Your Love, but maybe that's just me. The lyrics are hot garbage, the production lame, the songs are often just plain silly (not fun silly (aside from the last tune) just pretentious silly), and Jack Bruce's voice gives me a headache. But their worst offense is that they're fucking boring as hell. Even the hits are leaden affairs. God they're so dull. And also, fuck Eric Clapton, that white supremacist POS.

Sunshine of Your Love? - Great Imagine walking into a record store and passing over The Beatles, The Kinks, The Beach Boys, or Bob Dylan for this. I’d be upset in retrospect. Of course Clapton is a great technical guitarist, but there’s just nothing resembling any emotion in his playing. Outside of “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs,” I think EC has been riding rock’s coattails to stardom. At least he did a cool Michelob commercial back in the day. He cannot hold a candle to Hendrix or his contemporaries.
