Awful. Sounds like yoko on crack.

i'd rather listen to pink friday 2 or skibidi toilet for 12 hours this shit is so ass im crying😭😭😭 idk give it a chance tho this is just not for me❤

strange, and not in a good way.

Listened on subway in NYC. Not great. 1.4

This is some of the most ass music I’ve ever heard. The 80s truly were a low point for society.

This was horrible. Like a really bad knock of of the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack.

Don’t grab me. Not a huge fan of this one.

I consider falsetto a technique sparingly as a dramatic effect because it is not a pretty sound... Kate Bush just hangs on it. I cringe every time she goes into scream mode and not in the modern slang sense. actual closed eyes, contorted face cringe in the traditional sense. If you exclude the annoying hi-pitched screams the rest of the album is your classic "weird for the sake of being weird" art pop. The most bearable song was night of the swallow but you can almost hear her shaking from holding back screaming in your ear at the chorus.

Ugh, this was nearly unlistenable. I enjoyed the last KB album, but this album was just irritating. The falsetto's the vocal bouncing paired against the boring music set this up for a giant fail. I might as well listen to Tori Amos.

There are three Kate Bush albums on the list. There don’t need to be. “The Dreaming” has “often characterised as her most uncommercial and experimental release,” and to that I would add “almost unlistenable.” There are some hints of Bush’s talent here, but they are overwhelmed by too many head-scratching moments. Artist should absolutely experiment. But not all of those experiments should leave the studio. I laughed out loud at the ridiculousness of so many parts of “The Dreaming.” NPR made a list of The 150 Greatest Albums Made By Women from a reader’s poll. The 1001 has women underrepresented, but Kate Bush’s three entries isn’t the problem. Somehow “Dreaming” made the NPR list, at #24. 🤷‍♂️. But ahead of it, and not on the 1001, are: Beyoncé - “Lemonade” Adele - “21” (was on but was taken off) Tori Amos - “Boys for Pele” Taylor Swift - “Reputation” (ok I don’t agree with this one) Then after 24, but also more deserving, are: Melissa Etheridge - “Yes I Am” Neko Case - “Fox Confessor Brings the Flood” Fiona Apple - “The Idler Wheel…” …and on, and on… Adele should have stayed on the list. Swift I could take or leave personally, but she probably deserves more on the list for her popularity and cultural impact. “Fox Confessor” is brilliant, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, and I’d love to see it on the list. But it’s Tori Amos and Fiona Apple that are most directly deserving of one Bush’s three spots. Apple’s “Idler Wheel” and “Fetch the Bolt Cutters” are experimental, like “The Dreaming,” but I think are more listenable (though I’m sure all won’t agree). Amos doesn’t get enough credit for her body of work and the many artists she inspired. Many women are deserving of one of Bush’s three spots, but I’d give it to “Boys for Pele.”

Actual dogshit

The beat? ass. The flow? Ass. The lyrics? Don’t fucking no (ass) this album makes me want to kill my whole family. A disgrace to the album that came before this. Not a good look for the women community.

I did not think it was possible for an album to suck this bad yet here we are. I genuinely wanted to stop listening to this album about 10 seconds in. It sounds like something theater kids would listen to.

Probably the worst album yet. Experimental pop punk is not for me.

Kate Bush doing a Bert The Chimney Sweep. A load of absolute balls.

A little too odd for me

Her voice is awful

What an interesting, creative, quite talented... absolutely unlistenable drivel? I rated two other Kate Bush albums we got so far 3 and 4 stars. So I'm not a great fan of the rest of her work, but I found it at least very listenable. This one was bordering on torture though.

1. zat in your lap - 0 2. there goez a tenner - 1 3. pull out the pin - 0 4. zuzpended in gaffa - 0 5. leave it open - 0 6. the dreaming - 0 7. night of the zuuallouu - 0 8. all the love - 0 9. houdini - 1 10. get out of my houze - 0 11.

Just horrible

Fucking atrocious.

You can tell she’s a good musician but this album was a little strange and all over the place. It didn’t really have an 80s feel about it and sounds like a weird B musical or film soundtrack. Have to say I didn’t enjoy this one very much. It almost became unbearable to listen to at some points.

0/10, 0%

I get that she's experimental and unique but I really struggle with this.

Nope, she is not my cup o 🍵

Absolutely fucking dreadful again, just like everything she's ever touched.

Meh. Almost fell asleep listening to this.

Mijn hemel is dit voor rond een vuurtje de regengoden oproepen

Really a struggle for me to get through this one. Not my taste.

Kate Bush has to be one of the most overrated artists ever, she has maybe 2 good songs?

Nah. Made me want to punch music right in the dick.

horrific nonsense whispering and overall just strange music.

I couldn't get through it. This album was disgusting. You can be yourself Kate Bush but I don't want any part of it.

I think this is album I 100% do not “get” but either way I thought it was trash.

this definitely deserves its place on the 1001 albums list because its fucking batshit mental. i find her popularity as confusing as i do for the popularity bestowed on Prince. i just don't get it.

Pretty awful. First exposure to older Kate Bush. Hopefully my last as well. 1/5

she kinda sucks

??? maybe it is something you need to acquired a taste for, but life is too short for this. Never heard this before and I'm really fine with never, ever hearing any of this again.

Holy fuck my ears are bleeding in the "The Dreaming" song. Please make it stop. This album is fucked on my rating. On the last song, still so bad. So glad it's almost over. this shit is getting a 1 star from me

Very busy with a lot of random noises and talking Sounds like it is from a musical It's like a PG version of that Suicide album

This might be the weirdest fucking album I’ve ever heard and not in a good way. It’s like trying to be weird for the sake of being weird. I don’t even think I can respect the experimental aspects of it. Not a fan.

I *really* dont like the nonsense of this album, I dont know if theres some deeper meaning that I have to delve into, since she is regarded as such an icon, but I cant emphasise how much it seemed like gibberish

One of the most obnoxious things I've heard in recent memory.

I’ve never understood why people like Kate Bush. I mean, “running up the hill” is solid, made all the better by Stranger Things but this was not good.

Bjork on coke. This is one experiment that doesn’t work for me.

When will we all admit that Kate Bush albums are rubbish?

Don’t like Kate Bush

What a terrible day to have ears

She had a couple of songs I didn't mind but this album is awful. By trying for interesting effect instead of just singing she has created a complete mess.

A truly weird and awful album. Songs had to be skipped.

Endnervig.

Seems like no one ever told Kate no, and that's great for feminism but terrible for my ears. This was going to be a 2 until the last track which is literally Bush screaming like a banshee while a man screams HEEE-HAWWWWWW like a donkey for 5 minutes

MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP

Not a fan of Kate Bush’s music or this album. Not one I’d ever really return to but not a fan of any of her other stuff either

Enjoyed: no Listens: 2 Just not my vibe I can see why someone else could find something in it. The voice is very eccentric, complimenting the music beautifully, it's more just annoying to me

On a first listen, I'm really not a fan of the sound direction here. Apparently this is Bush's most eccentric album, so I might be missing something.

Not for me. Some tracks put me in mind of Chas and Dave

Cue nervous laughter

Cant stand kate bush

This suc...was not for me so hard.

NoT my vibe

Can't listen to this shit

I do not like Kate Bush.

I hate her voice so much. The screeching made me want to puncture my eardrums. Otherwise I probably would have liked this at least a little. But yeah, my first one star, and I don't know if my eardrums will ever recover.

Borderline unlistenable. 1

Genuinely hated it... Was annoyed almost the entire time.

Houdini and Get Out Of My House were listenable. Apart from that, utter rubbish. Another 1001 albums bomb. Maybe there aren't 1001 albums you should hear. Or, maybe some are here just to show us how bad music can be.

wtf is this 1/5

Nothing like screeching carnival music!

Trying everything until something sticks? Nothing did though

sucked back then and still does

Sorry Kate. Not for me.

I thought this would be a good opportunity to understand the cult of Kate Bush. It was and I don't. Weird, scary and unenjoyable.

Different sound but didn’t like

Love Kate normally but hated this.

Very different sounding voice. She iPad a lot of skill. I was not a fan of the album. On the cover it was interesting because she looks like my niece.

This album has a combination of some of my most hated musical aspects. The canned synths sound horrible, the vocals are shrill and confusingly distorted, her accent is disgusting, the tunes are annoying, and the maximalist production makes sure that everything I hate comes to the forefront. Borderline unlistenable and certainly headache-inducing. 2

Absolute garbage. 1/10. Horrible singing, trash songs.

Definitely not a fan. This was a tough listen.

She is the coolest! I really want to like her but she's too avant-garde for me I think!

Wow, I just really hate this so much. It sounds like experimental music, I guess, and I just really hate it.

Couldn't finish 2 songs. Not for me

Ach, nein? Ich bin überrascht.

About equally entertaining as it was abrasive.

Different from anything I've ever heard. Lack of instruments in my opinion, sounds like a lot of keyboards/piano and maybe synthesizers (and of course drums). Some songs sound kind of like modern day pop. Very experimental sound, many uses of he voice. No recognizable or memorable lyrics. Probably wouldn't listen to again. Album Rating: 4/10 , Highlights: Swallow of the Night, Pull the Pin.
