It might be great country music, but I can't listen to it
I really don’t know why these sort of country albums keep appearing on the list, I think there’s a big gap between singer-songwriter and country/singer-songwriter albums and I really did not want to finish this album. This country sound just really isn’t for me and I don’t find this sort of music to be something that’s essential especially for albums that I need to hear.
Way too country for me and I really hate how a lot of these older country albums are just credited to the performer but most of the songs were written by other people. That should auto-disqualify an album from here in my opinion.
This is fairly typical sound of the 70s. She's got a good voice, but it's not for me.
Name one good country album and I'll give you 23 that sound exactly the same. This is one of the 23. Songs about Rodeo and pick-up trucks don't resonate with me; coming from the UK.
Boo country
Sure, I'll admit she has a lovely voice and sure, I'm sure that lots of people love this. But I just can't get away with the overwhelmingly vast majority of country.
howdy, i'm gon mosey on dooown to the ole railroad bridge and throw myself off to save my ears from this darn misery. y'all be good now.
Like eating an ice cream cone full of dog shit. My God, my ears will never recover from this. Suck my hairy cock.
oh god this is torture
Absolutamente cheesy.
There's nothing here that I needed to listen to before I died. Some songs veer into gospel. The only redeeming feature is that she sometimes sounds like Queen Dolly.
Oof, awful genre
Deprimente
This is some old school country. It's literally 'hokey'. Old school country has a touch of polka in it.
My streak of not enjoying country continues...
Meh. Country.
She has a beautiful voice but her songs were so sad. I can turn on the news if I want to be 😞.
1.5
Zzzzzzz. 1.
Pièces préférées: Before Believing, For No One
Musically upbeat country music, I can only imagine the bar atmosphere, I can’t relate to this to be honest. Mostly cover versions, it’s a nice warm homely atmosphere but her voice grates at times - those louder higher pitch moments. Marked down from a 2 to a 1 as mostly cover versions - controversial I know.
Country, eh? Nah, no feelings here.
Nice voice, boring karaoke album. I am getting a wider education of country in this process, and I still think it is rubbish, no matter how hard I try to enjoy it.
More of an album for Ross than Don
Nope
A little to country not enough rock and roll
Couldn't sit through
No thanks.
Nope.
Barf
I'm afraid this is going to be one of my less helpful reviews. To my ears, Pieces of the Sky is homogenized country music. Unlike the Grateful Dead, Commander Cody, or even the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Emmylou Harris has nothing to add to Country music, such as rock or blues--she can only weaken it and dumb it down. If I wanted to listen to pure 70s country, I'd go with someone like Charlie Rich. That said, I have to grudgingly admit that the album is technically well performed from top to bottom. It's just flat and flavorless.
Bluebird Wine reminds me too much of 5-Piece Chicken Dinner. 2/10, definitely not for me
Not great
